  1. he was a jerk when i met him and snubbed my fourteen year old boy ... can't stand his show either - the guy is full of himself...must of had a reason to treat you better
  2. i have quite a few i'm happy with ... snapped a halo daylight into shredded wheat on a hookset ... other than that, i've been lucky to get good rods.... due to reviews and forums like this helping me research before buying ... i'm looking for both spinning and casting ... right now i have a long lists of possible brands to try - i'm interested in hearing people's input on what they feel that they wouldn't buy based on personal experience... i realize that good rods inevitably have a lemon every now and then, like the dobyns savvy i broke trying to get loose from a snag on the bottom - i may have damaged the rod before that happened, dont know - but i'm going to return it for another , and would buy more from him ... i don't lock myself into a price, more so a good value ( bang for the buck ) i'm willing to spend a couple bills, just not on something that people can tell me to be wary about, which is what i'm asking
  3. if charlie moore uses it... i don't buy it - met him personally, total knob ... his show should be called " look how awesome my life is "
  4. i think the abu garcia vendetta , and even the vengeance fall into this category..... great performance for what they cost , and the vendetta is new and improved this year
  5. i appreciate the input ...i have tried to ask about certain rods before, and it usually turns into recommendations for a whole bunch of rods i didn't ask about , not to say that i don't learn something - that's why it's good to see when people debate....not fight over opinions, just debate
  6. like i originally stated, i'm looking for people's bad experiences...thanks to everyone for their feedback
  7. i heard the same thing about carrot stix...that's good enough for me
  8. bad reputations is what i'm looking for... sometimes it's only one or two rods out of a whole line up... i do stick to a couple brands that i really like , but i found them by buying and trying them ... so every year i try a couple new ones, usually read a bunch of reviews and pick a couple
  9. looking to add some new rods to my arsenal - brands i don't have, so obviously don't know.... i want to know what rods people have had bad experiences with so i can stay clear of those
  10. x 2 ... 7-6 h fast for me on the swimbait rod.... up north and i usually don't throw giant swims....which is another setup all together
  11. out of the ones that you mentioned, i would go with the shimano crucial
  12. most of my rods are spinning and more than half of those are 6-10 to 7 ft.mh.....i use them for almost anything 1/4 - 3/4 oz unless i need something softer, then i go to med....it doesnt hurt having the extra backbone for bigger fish
  13. the falcon - jason cristie series also would be a consideration, or maybe the diawa tatula xt
  14. i've read an article or two on this and the industry knows it , and the more reputable companies are experimenting with different kinds of patterns in the way they form the rods for this reason....i believe there is a g-loomis article about it if you search for "hi- modulus" or i-m ratings
  15. excellent...next couple of days off and 5 inches of snow in my yard.....it was 70 degrees in february ....what a trip this state is - gonna try for some smallies at the chu , i guess
  16. it's all good rippin- lips...i've been in construction for 35 years and we bust each other way worse than this- i've heard the term sissy stick more than once-.i was enjoying myself as well....maybe it looked liked my feelings were hurt - but i was just trying to get some digs in myself..fair play , right ?.i really don't care about how someone else fishes , and i would think nobody really cares how i fish either -
  17. right....thanks cottny27 - maybe i am a little too sensitive ....i'm going to go and powder my ****** now and then go put some new line on a couple of my spinning reels - some lightweight 8 # mean green - carry on gentlemen
  18. well then what i'm able to throw or catch must just be all my imagination then
  19. that's why i own some .... i fish up north and usually manage just fine - it's not often i'm in heavy cover or fighting anything over 5 or 6 lbs... but also remember that saltwater guys are fighting pretty big fish on spinning gear ...you just gotta know how to use it ....it's actually something to be proud of...i brought in a 15 lb. pike on champlain with 8 lb. test - just sayin'
  20. it's all good.....sure i'd like to be more accurate with a baitcaster ,i do own a couple nice setups , but if i can drop a jig into a bucket from 80 feet away with a spinning setup, why wouldn't i continue to do that ? i think the colors are cool , but i'd rather by more gear...that's just me....i guess those thousands of fish i've caught on sissy sticks and the money i've won don't count...i'm not a real bass fisherman - guess i should just quit now and take up knitting
  21. really ? what a super studly manly thing to say .....i have no desire to become such a super macho man like you by becoming a masterbaitcaster ....i'll stick to being the little ***** i am just because i catch tons of big bass with a sissy stick ....you must be like the king of your own jungle ....bet you drive a really big truck too
  22. i'm like fishing fool.... i am much more accurate and can cast farther with my spinning gear .... i have 2 bait casters , a lews bb1 and a bb1 pro , which are also my only braids and they only see heavy lures and heavy cover ...i can do anything with spinning gear with any lure and my heaviest line is 10 # on one set up out of 10 that i use for rougher terrain ...
  23. mccoy , sufix promix , yo-zuri, a lot of guys like braid , as did i for a while , but wind knots and snapping from shock drove me away
  24. i have a ts magnesium i bought last year and it's one of my favorite rods....6-10 mh , but has more of a med feel as far as casting goes - and very light...also have a carbon steel 6-10 mh and is pretty close to the same thing - don't know about about the magnesium 2 , but i give kistler nothing but high praise. the guides are just fine
  25. next time switch with him so you really know if it was you or the lure !!
