  1. Hey bro...Put the letter away...you can absolutely land a sponsorship. You don't need to fish a major tournament or win anything. First....Do not send a form letter out to a whole bunch of companies...it looks like a sales pitch and they will throw it away Second....never lead with "what can you do for me" lead with, "This is what I can do for you" Third..Figure out what you need. If you are looking for a product sponsorship meaning if you want discounts on products then you need to be very specific. Pick the company that has the product you use and focus on them with a tailor made proposal. You will need to show them how you will help them with their product sales and branding Fourth.... read up on the sponsorship topic so you can put together a strategy...I've gone through a few books some of them were way to business like and tough to understand but some were pretty good..Theres The Sponsorship Seekers Toolkit there is a new edition out I haven't read it yet but the last edition was pretty helpful...The TASK Sponsorship Guide is good. This is a good start to give you some strategies. Best of Luck Don't give up
  2. There are several types of sponsorship and endorsement opportunities out there you need to figure out what type of sponsorship would benefit you at this stage in your sport. A sponsorship is a mutually beneficial relationship between you and the sponsor. This means you both need to profit from the relationship for it to be successful and more to the point, worth it for the sponsor. Before you ask a sponsor for anything you need to be able to show them how you will have a positive impact on their product or service. How you will increase sales, how you will increase brand recognition of their product, how you will increase their foot print in a new territory or with a new market. This process will start with YOU. You must build your worth...Be sponsorship worthy...having a logo on your shirt will not be enough..winning a couple of club events will not be enough, winning in and of itself will not be enough.. Have a strategy and educate yourself on the sponsorship process...Some good books are The Sponsorship Seekers Toolkit, and The TASK Sponsorship Guide they weren't too long and they were to the point and easy to read. best of luck Tony
