I just got a small order of Siebert finesse jigs in the mail the other day. Let me say first off, that the positive word of mouth on here led me to try them out. I don't have a lot of jig fishing experience, but I have used finesse jigs in recent years. They work great for smallies here with a kalins grub trailer. Well, the jigs I got look fantastic! Haven't used them yet obviously (winter in WI) but my first impression screams quality. I opted for the wire tie and got 4 different colors. What I like the most is the jig head itself. Unlike other finesse jigs it isn't a ball head, it a stand up head like on a flipping jig. Thats awesome for me and hopping along for smallies. I can't wait to try them out! Anyone else ever use Siebert finesse jigs? If yes, let's see some pics! Fish and jigs welcome haha.

Northland Tackle Mimic Minnow. I got into fishing at 19. I found my old 2 pc pole and brought to our family cabin. We stopped at the small town tackle store up north and my mom bought me these and mini mites. I spent hours standing in the cove our cabin is on, catching bass after bass. I'd never caught so many fish before, and in such familiar waters. The rest is history.

X2 on the pike. Every single time I've used an Aglia, I've caught pike. It doesn't even matter where: lakes, rivers, streams, water I'd never caught a pike in......they hammer it. Its like it ticked them off!

I've never been a magazine guy, you know, Internet and such. But I got a killer deal and couldn't say no: 1 year Bass master plus a tackle bag for 10$. So I'm just waiting on my first issue!

Does anyone have any experience dropshotting the Yum Killshot? It seems similar to the Anglers choice killshot (name theft even!) And the kvd dream shot with just a smaller, more subtle profile. One plus for the Yum is I can get it at my local gander mountain. I like the look of the Anglers choice but it'd be an online buy only...

If I had my way, I'd have a never ending list of areas to improve. But for times sake....here are 3. 1) I want to learn and get a basic skills level with dropshotting. I know all about how good it is and can be, and I'm a huge smallmouth fan. So it makes sense. 2) jig fishing. It seems like a common goal, from what I've seen in others posts. I use spinning tackle and a canoe which may have scared me away from flipping but I'd like to do it in sparse cover this year. 3) in regards to the time I spend fishing, I want the quality and quantity to be the same. I don't wanna just go half a** it for the sake of it. I need to commit to taking the canoe each time and exploring. I have amazing option for rivers and lakes here and need to take advantage.

I fish for smallmouth and largemouth with an Aglia a lot. It's been a go to lure for me ever since I first started fishing avidly. I've run the gauntlet of sizes and now exclusive use the #3 size in brown fur with silver or copper blades depending on the sky. Sometimes a silver blade, red and white fur does the trick for me to but I favor the brown dressed. The #3 is the perfect size for me. It casts like a rocket, is easy to fish shallow or deeper (the heavier sizes run deeper and are tough to use shallow) and I've caught smallies, largemouth, pike, muskie, crappie, catfish, walleye and perch on it. Here's one I caught on a white and red #3 last fall.

If it's a broken record, it's for a good reason! St Croix all the way.

I only have a canoe. Don't get me wrong, its a nice canoe, Old Town Osprey. It's just not the same. It doesn't customize well like a yak, is hard to store gear efficiently, and catches wind badly. That all makes it kind of lame for fishing, alone especially. I really wish I had a kayak instead but can't afford one. Oh well, such is life.

The most challenging part of fishing for me, and many, is finding the fish. It's all well and good having a plan and a seasonal pattern, but when it's not working as planned you've gotta improvise. Plus, I don't have a bass boat or John boat. I have a a canoe. To be fair it's a very nice canoe, but it's not possible to gun it around and spot hop. Kinda gotta have a plan, a backup and make sure I work any promising spot thoroughly. The most exciting part is when every thing comes together perfectly: you've got the right bait in the right spot at the right time to catch fish after fish. I had some of the best and most thrilling fishing of ny life just last year, right on the river by my house. Literally a big prespawn smallie 7 out of 10 casts. Some upwards ot 5 pounds and a small 2 pounder being plenty formidable thanks to the strong currents.

Never caught one on a buzz bait but I bet it's a blast!

4" Kalins lunker grubs, 2.5" cabin creek tubes, 3.5" Dry Creek tubes, 3.5" provider tubes, cabin creek express craws, 7" Berkley power worms, Confidence Baits little tubes, battle stance craws and floating birds; zoom super flukes, zoom finesse worms, netball finesse worms, 4" yum dingers, GYCB senkos, a few packs of baby paca craws. I probably forgot some. I have some that I bought on a whim, some that were too good a deal, and the ones that are obviously my go-to's. Color wise.....watermelon flakes, green pumpkin flakes, brown shades black blue flake, smoke purple, etc natural colors for my clear waters.

Same. If im not using a 2.5"-3.5" tube im using a craw. I love Yum craw daddys, and cabin creek express craws.

Really, color depends on the water. If it's clearer water then go with natural colors like watermelons, green pumpkins, browns and smokes. Various colors of flakes work well depending on the forage in your waters too. If water has low visibility use darker colors like black, black bkue, junebug, and even dark browns to get the best silhouette for those fish to find. Me, I try to keep my colors as close to the colors of the crayfish I imitate with tubes as I can. I always keep my eyes peeled in the sunny shallows for one to immitate. In cold water here watermelon blue flake can't be beaten. And a green gold flake is awesome in the spawn. Brand wise it's up to you. Just try to find a company that does hand dipped if you want the best action, and poured of you want the best durability. Personally, I like soft, supple tubes with lots of action. I'd recommend Cabin Creek, Dry Creek, Confidence Baits little tube, provider (on word of mouth) and howies tackle (similar to cabin creek). Tube fishing a lot of fun and don't be scared to play around with a couple packs from various companies. They all should work well enough after all. Just find what you like and have confidence in and that's the best you can hope for.

If the guides are anything similar to the Tournament Bass series, a braid to fluoro leader knot WILL be noticeable. However, I've never had any issues with it ruining the knot. I do use longer leaders now since I noticed if the knot is closer to the reel when I cast, it has less catch/drag.

I'm in the same boat: 610mlxf LTB for me, love the new Elites. Well, I wanted an old one too but now it's new?! And better?! Want.

Wierd, and very disappointing! I'd have found a way to justify getting 1 too, even with my new LTB

I pulled the trigger on some Sniper jigs. I've been needing some little finesse jigs for my river smallies here. Can't wait!

That's weird. And a bummer, the 2pcs were an amazing sale. Like....cheaper than a tournament bass.
