Other Interests
I love the outdoors. Plain and simple. I love to hike, bike, camp, fish (obviously), walk, picnic, string up my Trek Light hammock, canoe, grill and just laze about in the Riverside park near home. All made better with my girlfriend's company.

About Me
Fishing wise, if I could only catch Smallmouth for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy man. A smallie hitting a tube or a dead sticked jerkbait is what I keep going back to the water for. Topwater ANYTHING is a blast. Smallies, pike, LMB, muskie... anything.
I'm what you could call a "finesse" angler at heart. I'll take tubes, craws, grubs and light jigs any day over most other fishing styles. I've still got my power types too, albeit lighter than most guys: topwater, spinners, shallow cranks, jerkbaits (?)
I fish out of an Old Town Osprey canoe. I'd love to have the opportunity to have a kayak and learn to fish from it someday. Until then, I canoe and beat the banks to my hearts desire!
It's winter here while I write this out, so my main pastimes include watching fishing videos online, sorting, organizing, cleaning, restocking and drooling over tackle and such. Nothing like poking the Bait Monkey and seeing what happens, right?
I've had success with Power Pro Superslick Hi-Vis. I've got some on my reel from last season. Fished it all year and it still has vibrant yellow. It's not quite as bright, but it more than suits my needs!
I'm trying Seaguar Smackdown ths ywar too.
I like the fast. It helps to have a lighter tip to cast the smaller rigs. I also like hooking into fish with a lighter tip so that it has a bit more give. Less likely to break the light wire hooks.
-St Croix Legend Tournament Bass 610mlxf
-Daiwa Tatula Elite 7mlf
I've used my Legend Tournament Bass 610mlxf the most for Neds. It works really well, but is a bit stiffer than my Daiwa Tatula Elite 7mlf. Extra fast vs fast makes a big dif for me. The Tatula LAUNCHES Ned rigs!
I got some Rapala fishing pliers years back and they work very well. I prefer forceps though: compact, easy to pocket, good for smallmouth, etc. I've got Berkley forceps and some my mom gave me from work (She's a nurse)
I use a double Uni with no issues. It's easy to tie, is super strong and fairly low profile. I do use "lighter" line fishing for smallmouth: 10-15# braid and 8# fluoro, so there's not a lot of line to bulk it up anyway.
As needed. If the latches are faulty, water leaks in, or the box is bent. I dont replace for the sake of it like i would with other things in fishing where fresh can be better.
The beautiful thing about the better quality trays I've got now, which are nothing too fancy anyway, is that they last.
Hi folks,
What is your favorite treble hook to replace stock hooks with? Do you vary it or have a specific brand?
I'm just gauging preferences before I look into getting some for spring! Went through tackle to sharpen and take stock and it looks like replacement will be best on a few of these lures ??.... mangled in the best way!
Don't you just HATE when you finally decide to make a big(ish) purchase, have a sweet promo code to use, hit the site and then..... they're literally only out of the specific rod model you want?! Dang iiiiit!!
<consoles Bait Monkey> "shhhhh shhhh it's oookay.... I'll buy you a few jerkbaits for now." ?
A fair compromise. That would be a bummer though! I love his Sniper jigs... the pike steal them, I snag occasionally, but it's such a confidence bait for me.
Seems so soon after the long winter (I'm in Wisconsin).
I don't have many jerkbaits: husky jerks, shadow raps, and a couple pointers. I'd love to try some vision 110's but can't swallow the $$ yet. One that I do plan to try is the Jackall Rerange.
