  1. My experience is very limited but I do catch bass. I purposely throw cranks for bass with an Eyecon 6'6" ML-F but I did that just for the colder temps. To answer your question, if they like what you are throwing they will bite on it. I think it would be best to let someone else answer that for you, sorry.
  2. Only comment I can make on the Rod is I'm a huge St. Croix fan. As far as the Stradic is concerned I have the CI4+ (2500) and it's an amazing reel. You may also want to look at the new Stradic FK, I have it as well in the 1000. Used it once so far with success and its a great reel as well. Good luck and welcome back to fishing.
  3. Don't know the weight or length but I caught it on New Years Eve in 34° weather on a Rapala BX Jointed Shad
  4. Zman is the only brand I've tried and I have several different styles, they all catch fish.
  5. So far it's been great to hear what everyone is saying. The question isn't about me and my abilities it's about you the anglers opinion. Thanks again and especially for adding another reel to the mix I wasn't aware of, great.
  6. Thanks and yes it helps. I love technology and product advancement but it has to do what it's designed to do. Im with you all the way
  7. Thanks, I've read your article twice in the past, very informative. I guess I'm personally looking at it from a different perspective. The more self help features I can get seems more beneficial to me as a beginner.
  8. Like you, I have both as well however I find the Plano 3700 stowaway fits in my bag a little easier due to the rounded edges. I also like the Plano 3700 stowaway deep. FYI, Menards carries them and are the cheapest I've found.
  9. I decided I'm getting a baitcaster and it will be a Metanium or Metanium DC. The Metanium is no brainer but I'm intrigued by the DC model. Regardless of my experience, rod choice, lure/bait choice or even what or where I'll be fishing, I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get. Based on the overseas sites there is $100 price difference so even that is irrelevant. Im reaching out to my fellow anglers to persuade me one way or the other, so please tell me why you would or wouldn't choose one or the other. Thanks
  10. Pflueger Purist, Stradic CI4+ (2500), Stradic FK (1000) Go Stradic and don't look back
  11. I've been using the scatter rap shad series, 05 for the fall and into early January with great success along with the BX Jointed Shad
  12. Yep, same here. After the frst couple close calls I found that once I felt the grass or knew when I was coming in contact with it, depending on the bait, I would stop and let the lure rise a little or on lipless I would tug gently so I could tell if it was a strike or popping through the grass. As mentioned above the rod angle was a big help for me.
  13. Great advise here as this is what I have done simply by trial and error not knowing what I was doing and 75% of the strikes come at the grass line when you rip it but be careful and consider safety glasses, lol.
  14. Bait Monkey found my Bass Pro gift cards and bought these.
  15. I've been using 15# Power Pro SS8 (no leader) with success in catching bass and icing up but I expected the ice.
  16. Great, this is very helpful. Thanks for the detailed information.
  17. Ok, thanks Steve
  18. Dwight, how do you go about getting a pair with prescription lenses, is it as simple as going to a dealer with the prescription.
  19. Thought I may not be the only person with this question so I figured it was better asked here than in a PM. Thanks
  20. I'm in the same boat as you but I need mine in prescription, do you mind if I use your topic to ask Dwight Hottle how he went about getting them.
  21. Great, thanks for the info and heads up. I think 2 of the guys go or have been but don't know when. It's usually a crap shot but doesn't hurt to ask for info
  22. Sorry, my license only allows for one refill, thanks for the laughs. Happy New Year
