  1. To follow up on my previous reply on my St. Croix warranty process which was settled today, broke an Avid X which is no longer available. They offered a victory at no charge except for $25 shipping or $110 credit and I could up grade to my liking and they cover shipping. I upgraded to a Legend Tournament.
  2. I’m in the middle of a warranty claim with St. Croix on a rod I broke several years ago, pulled a hog onto the bank tangled in weeds and snap. My fault of course, I contacted them and they said send it back on my dime for evaluation but I never got around to sending it back. They have since then changed how the warranty process works, I had to cut the rod and send back the portion that shows the model & serial number but still had to pay shipping no questions asked. I am more than happy paying for shipping both ways, in my case however my rod is now longer available so I don’t know what they will offer or if I will pay for an upgraded rod.
  3. I made a couple of these a few years ago, doesn’t hold a tremendous amount of gear but it’s enough for an avid bank fisherman like myself.
  4. I’ve been Bass fishing & strictly pond fishing for 5 years and everything mentioned in this post so far is good advise. I fish dozens & dozens of ponds and size and quantity are all over the place. I’ve caught my biggest bass dragging the bottom, in the dirtiest shallow water, in shallow slops, on various baits and any time of the year. My experience has been if there are dozens of dinks then the biggest I’ve caught would be about 2lbs and typically any pond over 3lbs I really don’t see an abundance of dinks. One pond in particular I fished once or twice a year for 3 years and never got a single bite then one day I landed a 6lb’r, first and only fish I caught in that pond, go figure.

    Red baits

I’ve always had good luck with red, been having good success with the TRD craw so far this spring
  6. Did a couple fatties today, beautiful fishing in the fog.
  7. Caught 89 YTD, over 60 were using a shortened TRD with the spinZ. Strictly pond fishing, it flat works
  8. Never waded in a pond to fish but I have gone in with waders to retrieve a lure and its extremely sticky/suction and not something I recommend doing but that was my situation your ponds could be different
  9. That is pretty d**n slick. I’ve been tossing around ideas for hauling/transporting my rods in the bed of my truck
  10. Nice catch, what state are you in?
  11. I have the 1000 & 2500. I use the 1000 on a ML/XF but a ML/F will work as well. I use the 2500 with a M/F on finesse baits when I’m gonna be in vegetation. As for the rod, I’m a fan of St. Croix. They are/tend to be tip heavy but I only pond fish so I just deal with it.
  12. You are correct, maybe they are making a change. ??‍♂️
  13. Priceless
  14. Congrats on a great year and awesome video
  15. No sarcasm intended but what would you be waiting for, unless/until there is some major engineering breakthrough I don’t see why any of the current/previous models wouldn’t be more than adequate. I currently have the Stradic FK, Stradic Ci4+ FA & Ci4+ FB and wouldn’t hesitate to grab either of those for any situation. The FK is a little tighter but very smooth and I personally can’t tell a difference between the FA & FB.
  16. I own only spinning, Stradic’s (1000 & 2500) & St. Croix’s ( ML/XF or ML/F) and I mostly fish Ned/Finesse baits. If I were to purchase a baitcaster it would be the Aldebaran BFS which I’ve been trying to convince myself for years to purchase one but I just can’t pull the trigger as I no issues with what I’m using.
  17. That’s a d**n good idea, I’m on it,!!
  18. That’s great to hear, we have one pond that’s loaded with bluegill I want to take him to this summer, he’s active and catches on very quick so we may have some fun this summer
  19. Congrats on the catch and the time you put in to it.
  20. Ah yes, forgot to mention that. I’m strictly a braid user and have 100% confidence tossing it that way, however I would suggest not tying direct to the deeper eyelet and to use some sort of snap since the edges of the eyelet aren’t completely rounded/smooth
  21. I have & use the Deeper Pro+ for bank fishing ponds. I like it and works great without issue. Only thing I don’t like is the weight, I currently have it rigged on my catfish rod and Shimano Sustain 3000 and it just seems to put a lot of stress on it during the cast. It’s a little tough to cast accurately but I’m getting better. I’ve used both my phone and iPad and can’t say I like one over the other. Sonar cuts out at 3’6” which can be a little frustrating since that seems to be the hot spot most of the time. Good luck and hope this helps.
  22. Great story, our first grandson will be 2 in June and I look forward to the fishing trips when he’s ready. Curious how old your grandsons were when you started taking them. Like you I'm a big fan of St. Croix, I started bass fishing our local ponds in 2015 and my first rod was a 2 piece St. Croix Eyecon and I still enjoy that rod however I have moved on to the Avid X series and plan on getting a couple Legend Tournaments this year. Also own one MoJo Bass but not sure how I feel about that rod, guess I haven’t used it enough. I love my Ci4 reels, mine are the previous version and I hear the latest version is even better. Guess now a days most everything is comparable but I’m like you, once I get something I like I stick with it. Good luck and have a great time out there as I’m jealous of your time with the grandsons, guess I’ll have to be patient for my time.
  23. I’m a big fan of St. Croix, use the Avid X and MoJo Bass and I’ll be getting into the Legend Tournament soon, all spinning rods. Im no pro as I’ve only been bass fishing for 4 years. I do this for fun and strictly pond fish so they serve me well. Good luck with your choice.
