  1. I like the bigger T knobs myself. I hate the new flatter knobs shimano has on their higher end 1000 and 2500 size reels. I usually switch them out to the older thicker knobs or T knobs
  2. Tried to place an order. Said the trolling motor was no longer available.
  3. I used the original suffix tritanium many years ago. It was decent line. I dont recall having any issues with the line.
  4. I have been using the same rods for years- black 7' med hvy cumara reaction series. I use them for squarebills, deeper cranks and lipless cranks. They seem to do a decent job, so I dont see a reason to change.
  5. I have both Stradic CI4+ and the tatula Lt. You cant go wrong with either. If you like black, go with the tatula. If you want it more flashy then get the stradic CI4+. The stradic FL is another good choice. It's more solid feeling than the CI4+ or tatula LT. I'm sure the Ballistic LT is also another nice reel, but I dont have that one.
  6. I guess you were at Walmart. I bought similar jigs a week ago there. Pretty good deal at $2.50 each. Wish they had more colors to choose from.
  7. I usually use roostertails for trout. But they seem to catch bluegills and bass just as good as trout. Creek Chubs also love them too. I did stock up on some when Cabelas had a sale on them a few weeks ago.
  8. If you fish from shore, you're going to lose alot of lures. It's a given. Sooner or later any lure will snag. If I bank fish, I usually use cheaper lures. So that when I lose them, it doesn't hurt as much. Academy sports has their H2O line that is fairly cheap and work well. Their selection is pretty good. At $4 to $4.5, losing one isn't too painful.
  9. I've never had any issues. I have several plano boxes with loose plastics and I haven't seen any issues. I keep similar colors together to keep them from bleeding colors.
  10. I dont consider the #7 and #9 as lightweight crankbaits. To me they cast fine on lighter baitcast gear, especially the #9. While I dont use the #9 much, I do throw the #7 often. I use 8lbs mono like big game or p-line. Mono will cast much better than fluocarbon. On a spinning rod, I would use trilene XL. I use a 7' med cumara reaction series and it seems to do very well with these smaller crankbaits. Try a 7' rod or longer and it'll help you with some distance.
  11. That's unusual to have two newish reels with anti-reverse issues. I've had many shimano spinning reels and don't think I've ever had an issue with the anti- reverse. I assume they are slipping and not catching. Are you fishing in the extreme cold?
  12. With a budget of $300, you could get several cheaper reels. Two curado K Almost three tatulas at low online prices. Or whatever else floats your boat.
  13. I have four of the hurricane calico jack rods. Excellent rods for the price. I use mine for saltwater and catfishing, but I'm sure they would work great for certain bass applications as well. They are fairly light and sensitive.
  14. If it was a gift and it means something to you, why would you get rid of it? You might as well keep it as a spare or shelf queen if its still in good condition. Once you get rid of it, you'll never get it back. You can always buy extra reels.
  15. I wouldn't under spool the reel with line. You'll just lose casting performance. If you are going to do more bottom contact, go with the 7.4 If you do primarily spinnerbait and chatterbaits, go with the 6.2. That my opinion anyway.
  16. True. The steez sv is so light it may not balance well on the FMJ. The FMJ balances better with a heavier reel.
  17. Just because a reel comes out doesn't mean you have to buy it. I'm still using my core 100's and 50's. As well as several 50e variants. But on another note I do also have several aldebaran and two bantam mgls.
  18. I'm surprised that more manufacturers don't offer a true silver blade. Silver blades do produce a more white flash. For some reason nickle blades are the norm. I believe the blades on a rooster tail is also a silver finish. It has a nice flash to it, like the Mepps.
  19. Why sell the reel? Unless you hate that other reel, just keep it for a spare. It never hurts to have an extra reel.
  20. Lower gear ratios provide more torque. You won't be wore out at the end of the day. That being said, all my cranking reels are in the 5 gear ratios.
  21. I have two 1000 ci4+ on two 6'10" med light exprides. The combos weight a little over 9 oz. each. Super lightweight and sensitive. One for drop shots, one for ned rigs, shakey heads.
  22. I have not heard of any new shimano reels being released in the $200 price range. It would be awesome to have a 70 series curado I though.
  23. I still throw the jelly worm and the augertail. Two of my preferred smaller 6" worms. I rig the jelly worms weightless and on Carolina rigs. I'll texas rig the augertails. As far as floating- I'm not sure if they float. None of mine ever has.
  24. I throw jerkbaits on both baitcasting and spinning reels. I usually throw the smaller jerkbaits on spinning tackle. My combo consists of a black 6'8" med cumara rod and stradic 1000FL with 10 lbs braid. I'll throw smaller x-raps and other light weight jerkbaits on it. I also use this combo for smaller 1/4 oz or less blade baits.
  25. I find the SV spools kind of slow for my liking. I'm not a fan. Not sure why daiwa thinks people are too dumb to know how to adjust a cast control knob. So they have to set it "perfect" from the factory. It's just a marketing gimmick for those who are less experienced casters.
