A wacky rigged senko is my most productive technique but at least half of the fish I hook get off. I'm positive they are hooked and not just holding the bait. I have tried a sweeping hook set vs a hard hookset. I have tried letting the fish take the bait for a few seconds and setting the hook as soon as I feel the bite. I have tried braid and mono, and various wacky rig hooks. Nothing seems to be working. It's frustrating because the bigger fish are normally the ones that get off. Currently I'm using a 7ft medium dobbin's spinning rod and a 1/0 trokar wacky hook. I think the fish that get off are just hooked in the skin on the side of the mouth and it tears during the fight. Am I using the wrong hook or is there a technique change I should try?

I also recommend the neomag. If you ever carry a 9mm get the 9mm size. A 380 will fit in the 9mm without being too lose but a 9mm mag won’t fit the 380 clip.

You could draw the line at human powered only, set a thrust limit on motors or make two divisions.

I owned the pescador 12.0 pro for a year and a half. It’s a little narrower than the pilot. You could stand up and cast but you had to be mindful of where your weight was positioned and you had to keep your feet facing straight ahead. Also the seat height isn’t ideal for standing up out of. If the pilot is anything like the pro, I would not get it if stability while standing is what you are looking for. I upgraded to a radar 135 with a pedal drive. It has excellent stability while standing but weighs a lot, has a poor turning radius and is kind of slow (comfortable 3-3.5mph). With the radar you could buy the kayak, fish for a while and then upgrade to a pedal drive later when you have the money.

I ended up getting the 9sv. I’m glad I didn’t get the 7 inch.

I find that most livetarget lures are designed with the goal of catching fishermen, catching fish is just a byproduct. Watching the video it falls like a rock and sits on the bottom like one too. The claws look like they will be too stiff and will lack action. Is the body hollow like a balloon or is it a soft foam. If it is hollow like a balloon I'm sure it will pop after a few fish or the claws will rip off like the feet of a lunkerhunt frog. I remember reading a chapter in "knowing bass" that compared craw fish bodies in various stages of dismemberment to the number of strikes received by bass. The crawfish bodies that didn't have claws received more strikes than ones that did. Predators want an easy meal and bass are no different. A less realistic crawfish lure like a traditional jig will probably perform better and be cheaper.

The specs on Garmin’s transducer have it at 6.6 inches long. I just need it to be under 9 inches. Now I can’t decide if a 9 inch screen will be too big.

I like the snag proof ish’s phat frog. It doesn’t take on water, the legs are cut short and point straight back which makes it easier to walk. The also have a small worm rattle and are heavier than most frogs which make them easy to cast

Built in maps aren’t a huge selling point for me because the bodies of water I spend the most time on aren’t preloaded. Latlely i have been doing most of my fishing on a private 50 acre lake and a canal system which I could map from a kayak without much difficulty. I noticed the non plus striker did not have quick draw contours, but thanks for confirming. I do not have a set budget and didn’t know the 9sv was that cheap. Is it the older model? How is the side view image quality on the 93sv and do you ever use 800kHz? I see that it uses the same transducer as the striker 7 plus

I am looking at a side imaging sonar to get for my kayak (radar 135) and narrowed my choices down to either hummingbird or garmin. The lowrance transducer is too big and won't fit where I want to mount it. Both units have chirp 2d, the ability to create maps of small bodies of water and waypoints. The garmin has 455 and 800kHz side view while the hummingbird only has 455kHz. The hummingbird can take a map card, but only 2 of the five lakes I fish are mapped. The garmin also draws slightly less power than the humminbird. The garmin is $500 and the hummingbird is $650. It looks like the only advantage the humminbird has is the sd card slot and the ability to use maps while the garmin is cheaper and has 800kHz side view. I am leaning towards the garmin, but is there something I am missing that would make the humminbird a better choice? Is the side view image quality comparable between the two units at 455 and would 800kHz on the garmin give a clearer readout than the humminbird at 455?

Austin kayak has most kayak brands marked down 15% through Memorial Day. The Wilderness systems radar would be another choice if you want the option of upgrading to a pedal drive down the road. The bonafied ss127 looks like a well thought out kayak but it’s also at a premium price for a paddle kayak.

On mats I don’t walk the frog, I just make short quick jerks of the rod tip to get the frog to scurry across. I also have luck with just burning the frog across the mat. In open water I’ll walk it but I don’t fish frogs in open water that often. Over mats I try to get the frog to make as much noise as possible. If the fish keep missing your frog and the mat is thick follow up with a punch rig. I use frogs as a search bait to find mats I want to pick apart and punch.

I go with a bulk spool but I go up in test strength. If you look at the diameter of leader vs a bulk spool, the leader will be a size above the bulk spool. If I want a 6lb leader I’ll use 8lb line because that’s the size line I would be using if I bought 6lb leader

When I broke my tatula down I couldn't find a video on the tatula either. I just watched a few bait caster cleaning videos then went for it. I didn't have a problem putting it back together. Just take pictures as you take it apart and find an exploded parts diagram in case you run into problems

Get the highest gear ratio the reel comes in and just reel slower. When you need to pick up slack on a long cast it's nice to have a fast reel

In the last picture you posted it looks like the switch was moved on the new models. I think it's above the spool and below the knob you tighten to screw on the reel handle. It's on the right side just past the center of the reel. If that's not it check your manual to see the new model even has an anti reverse switch.
