  1. She's grown a pound in about a year, and her body has grown to fit her head a little better.
  2. This guy's sounding like Peric on apbassin blaming Jon B. lol.
  3. Thx! Went out again this morning for about 45 mins and got another healthy little bass on the jerkbait. I have been trying to master new techniques, and after getting some good confidence in the jerkbait, I traded out for a black and blue jig and caught my first ever jig fish! She was 5.5 pounds and built like a tank!
  4. Have some fun with the Florida strain bass! Check out West Point and the Flint and Chattahoochee. The shoal bass is still on my bucket list, haven't gotten out to the Flint shoals yet.
  5. Good day with the Ima Flit 100 jerk bait, some sort of silver with a chartreuse belly color. The pond is very low, probably 2-2.5 feet below average. The fish weren't really schooling, but they were all holed deep in the same section of the pond. Caught probably 8 in an hour, a 2.5 was the biggest of the day and the rest were dinks. The big 4.5 pounder we've named Big Joanna was chasing two of the dinks as I reeled them up. The new Caenan is amazingly smooth and casted well in intense wind. For some background, this is not a strong bass pond. It could use some culling as well as some supplemental stocking(I'm thinking golden shiners), and also the spillwell needs to be fixed. It's a sweet place to catch some big bluegill though!
  6. Smallmouth Buffalo is the most difficult freshwater fish to catch on artificial lures that I have ever tried for, and they fight as hard as bonefish. They are spooky, making them more difficult to catch, and have small mouths. For them to eat your lure, it must be placed right in front of their face and they might eat it.
  7. I'm personally not a fan of the bright green handle, it seems kind of gaudy in my opinion. That's just aesthetics though, it doesn't matter what I think, and the fish don't care either. I have yet to find a bad Lew's product, and hope that this one follows that trend.
  8. Hey NGaHillbilly, is that a bass eating a trout in your profile pic? I know of a lake in your area with some giant trout eating bass.
  9. Thanks! This was my second try. Had to wipe off the first attempt with nail polish remover b/c the paint marker started dripping when I sprayed the clear coat on. This time I used the spray can instead of paint pen for the stripe and it worked out better.
  10. ha! ?. Hadn't looked at it that way until you mentioned that.
  11. After seeing a couple threads on getting reels painted, I thought I would try my own way. It's definitely not like some of the pieces of art done by calfish on the tackle tour forums, but it's kind of cool to have something customized. I used basic spray paint, and cleaned it up with some acetone nail polish remover. Found out accidentally that mineral oil is good for getting rid of the sticky feeling of the spray paint.
  12. I get that this argument is finished, but I did try the search tool before asking the question, and did not find anything that explained.
  13. Do you fish the Chattahoochee often? How big do the bass get in there?
  14. Great job! - now do it from a kayak
  15. Thinking about getting into the swimbait game, and I noticed these. I know people catch fish on them during the spawn just dropping it on the bed, but other than that is there any other time that that the flat tail is better than the paddle tail?
  16. Although somewhat difficult and cost worthy, an awesome thing to see would be a galvanized steel blade, extra thick. I have had smaller Z mans break off at the blade, and am a little bit scared to break off on thee big one. A really high quality and durable blade would be cool to try.
  17. It's a buckeye flat top finesse jig. nice fish!
  18. I was fishing with a weightless U-Tale when I threw it over the branches of a letdown. In a canoe with 8 lb fluorocarbon. As I reeled it in, I decided to leave it hanging and twitch the lure halfway in the water, not really thinking about what would happen if a bass took it. I turned around to put my paddle down, and as soon as I turned back, he took it. It was about a 2 pounder, but he dove into the laydown and wrapped me up. Also, this laydown happened to be covered in spiders. So I paddled the canoe very slowly towards the laydown, reeling in my line at the same time, and also trying to keep away from the spiders. I don't mind spiders, but I don't want six crawling on my hand as I push off of a branch! I finally anchored myself a foot away from where the fish was hiding down in a laydown, and I reached down into the water, following my line down to the fish.... And that son of a gun had thrown the hook.
  19. Fishing ponds in a canoe, I generally only bring my phone with me for my evidence. A couple weeks ago I was out fishing and the bass were chasing bluegill out of the water all around me, and I thought, well geez, I should film this! But as soon as I pulled my phone out they had stopped.
  20. I have had lots of mixed experiences, and I think it all depends on conditions and how a certain fish behaves. I think that to judge a whole species by how they fight on one or two lakes is not a fair assessment. I will say however that the hardest fighting freshwater fish i have fought was a smallmouth buffalo. While fishing Lake of the Ozarks I had 5-6 Pound Smallmouth Buffalo (carp) that would fight me for 10 minutes with 30 lb braid and a baitcaster, but the bass had decided that water skiing would be more fun.
  21. I wish I had, but sadly no. I have two white ices coming because of how impressed I was by the ghost.
  22. The Duckett Ghost is a great value rod, used my friends ghost and he was casting it twice as far as my okuma. same length rod, both using braid. Duckett in general makes good value and quality rods if your considering changing companies.
  23. Can't blame him, I was wondering too! Great job Dave!
