  1. Geez, no love for the Shimano Caenan 150. It's a great budget reel, smooth reeling and good casting.
  2. Each of you should be ashamed, my addiction is already bad enough with the bait monkey always whispering in my ear. And now you guys too!!!
  3. (Shorter than a curados cast)
  4. You don't have to use a fly rod for them though, you can make a castable one by tying the frayed rope around a jighead like a buck tail jig.
  5. That's a monster flathead! Nice job.
  6. I was looking at the assassin but the rod has red accents that would watch nicely with a Spartacus. I was also looking for a slightly heavier but still low profile reel to help balance the tip heavy rod.
  7. Also, have you purchased the reels yet? There's a guy selling two 30 sized limited edition presidents. Might want to check them out.
  8. My only disliking with the Mojo is how there is nothing covering the reel seat. I prefer a reel seat where the cork goes over the reel, like on the Dobyns Fury. There are a lot of options in the 100$ price range, it will be tough making the choice. Good luck with the purchase.
  9. Yeah I think I might as well spool up with 30 lb instead of 20 just for a bit more diameter and manageability.
  10. I've been using 30 for a year now, I think it will take some getting used to but I can make it.
  11. If you buy the cherrywood and avid, I can't see you touching the cherrywood.
  12. On vacation in Vietnam and passed a fishing shop on the streets. Mostly cheap telescopic rods, but managed to find two nice looking bass rods, however they were both from companies I couldn't find on the web. Although typically not a good sign, for 30$ I figured why not.(650,000 Vietnamese dong!) Anyway, the guides and reel seat are actually very nice, much nicer than many of the budget rods I usually see. Only problem I have is it's only a 5'10". Considering going with a Kastking Spartacus to try them out, been debating buying one of them for a long time. For those of you who have used kastking before should I get the Spartacus or go with something else from kastking? This combo is going to be a budget setup I can bang around from the bank. Also, how does 20 lb braid sound?
  13. Sounds like you might have to change your profile pick! I'm gonna have to pick up some of those, right along with a teckel sprinker frog.
  14. I tried the biting thing using dingers, but found that the plastic behind the nose of the bait is much more salted than the nose, and doesn't hold the hook as well. Maybe I'm crazy though, can't check right now though. The cost of vacation. ☹️ Edit: dang it picture, flip!
  15. I believe it was caught at a marina/bait station where bass are practically trained to eat what gets throw in.
  16. The bigger version are good. We used them down in the keys for tarpon, they cast a mile and the fish couldn't resist it. Didn't feel bad losing some of them either, pretty great price. Haven't tried the smaller ones though, which could explain the difference between our experiences with them.
  17. For those of you talking about the transporter, I found this. In stock supposedly. http://www.*.com/Paycheck-Baits-Frog-Transporter-p/paycheckbaits-transporter.htm Oh never mind I see the *** but anyways it was the first thing to come up when I google searched the transporter frog.
  18. Academy sports and outdoors has them at that price near me, however I don't know if you have one near you.
  19. A lot of kayak guys on here, but a small Jon boat with a trolling motor is more stable, comfortable, and will give you more space. You could put that motor on their. You could get a brand new 10'-12' Jon boat for around 600, less if you buy used on Craigslist(aluminum Jon boats are practically indestructible, just need a thorough cleaning). Plus you already have a motor, and you could still have money for a decent fish finder.
  20. Hey another guy from GA! There's less of us than you would think. Have you had much luck on Lanier for some of those big spots?
  21. Good luck out there!
  22. Ned rig. You wil catch fish with it.
  23. The Dick's at Phipps Plaza has a surprisingly large collection, and the Fish Hawk, although mostly a fly fishing shop, has a small selection of bass fishing lures, rods and reels.
