  1. Sounds like they've modified it to try and solve issues that people have with the 90. I like my 90s but they can be finicky sometimes.
  2. The water levels were low so the fish were extra spooky but I still managed a few. This was the nicest one at 2.5 on a wacky GP 3” Dinger. Saw several 3-4 pound fish but I spooked them and they got tight lipped ?.
  3. My brother has that same rod and it balances nicely with a 1000 sized Stradic Ci4+. I’d go with the President from those options, but can’t say that any of those are bad. Oh P.S. shimano rools ?
  4. Ned rig gets big numbers in a pond full of dinks ?. This one was the second biggest at a pound and a half but I got one that went 2.6 later in the evening on a 3’ wacky senko but didn’t get pics ?
  5. @WRB I have and actually made an account on the Pond Boss forum. He’s the man for sure
  6. Thanks everyone for the advice, I’ll be removing nearly all of the bass I catch from now on except for some of the nicer ones. I’m not looking to grow a 10 pounder but would just like to have chances at multiple quality 3-4 pound fish each time I go fishing. I think that I’m going to try to establish golden shiners as a supplemental species that will also hopefully help keep the bass pop. down. I’ll continue updating in the future.
  7. Yeah, sorry I should have been more specific. The pond is really fertile, you can catch bass all day with a wacky worm. Loads of cover because of beaver problems in the past. The average bass size is probably around 10 inches. Bass aren’t very skinny but they aren’t fat and healthy. Been fishing the past 3 days and biggest one was maybe 1.5-2. No more big fish that I know about, used to be a 5 pounder but I saw her floating one day. Bluegill pop. is lots of 5”-6” gills too big for most of the bass to eat. Cut open stomachs of some bass I’ve removed showed small yoy bluegill and some insects. I want to add a supplemental forage species but the winters are too cold for any threadfins. Maybe golden shiners? @NittyGrittyBoy By that method I’d remove every bass I’ve caught minus one. Does that work in your experience or not?
  8. For those of you who have owned/managed ponds with overpopulated bass, how many bass did you have to take out before seeing a notable decrease in the population I have been removing bass from our overpopulated 2 acre pond but am worried about taking out too many as well as what I should be looking for in the ones I remove. Al
  9. @ww2farmer I had the same problem with an insert on my 7’3” Heavy. Only one day out on the water with it and now I’m looking for a new frog rod.
  10. @A-Jay How is the methods casting rod? I’ve got the 7’ spinning model with an original Penn 360 on it and am loving it for inshore fishing. If you have the 7’4” Heavy model I’d love any input? Would probably be paired with a Cardiff 300.
  11. Went out last night with topwater bass being the goal. Had on a weightless Zoom O’l Monster in June bug. Got a bite with it but switched to a plopper for a little more noise and a better chance at short strikers and within a couple of minutes got a nice little 2-2.5 (forgot the scale, kicked myself as we were leaving in the car but figured I probably wouldn’t need it... I was wrong) Kept working around the pond just casting parallel to the bank. Very little cover in the pond and LOADS of critters. Probably 75 geese and 7 beavers in two acres of water. Came to a nice creek arm and cast deep in there and this big girl wanted the plopper. Measured 22 inches putting her around 6 lbs. Could be my new PB, But I don’t really care about that so much, just glad to have caught her. ?
  12. Dude that sounds sweet and yeah it would look great too. I'm a UGA fan and anything red and black floats my boat.
  13. These are what I’ve been doing it with recently. From left to right: 6’6” ML Fast Bass Pro Microlite- older rod I inherited, not too sensitive but gets the job done fine. Paired with a Daiwa SS Tournament and 15 lb braid it’s a pretty nice little combo. 7’ ML Regular Daiwa Tatule Elite w/ Aldebaran Mg7, 30 lb Power Pro Spectra- Topwaters and occasionally jerkbaits. 6’10” M Fast Shimano Curado Rod w/ Curado 70 XG and 12 lb Red Label- Just an all purpose light-er casting rod for weightless plastics, finesse jigs, light T-rigs. 7’2” MH Fast Shimano Curado Rod w/ Curado 200 K XG and 15 lb Red Label- simply my “do it all” rod. 7’3” H Daiwa Fuego w/ Shimano Caenan 150A and 40 lb Phenix Hydra 8 Strand Braid- was liking it as a frogging rod but the insert came out of the first guide and I’m considering getting a different rod. I also am considering an aluminum reel such as a Daiwa Tat. CT XS. Thoughts appreciated. H2O Xpress Ethos Cranking 7’ M Moderate w/ Shimano Metanium MG DC and 12 lb Big Game- Trying to justify getting a better cranking rod but I just don’t do it enough, this rod rarely sees the water. I do like taking the Met. off of it though and casting with the DC, would like to put on a longer handle than the standard 80 mm. To do list: Daiwa Tat. LT 2500 + Curado 7’1 Medium Rod and some 15 lb High-vis braid.
  14. Okay thx everybody, I was using the thumbnail link for forums not the direct link. This is why I love Bassresource, loads of helpful people.
  15. Good suggestions here. I’d also add a very small spider jig like the Cabin Creek Salty spider in some sort of a cinnamon or light brown color. I’ve had success in streams like this one with a 3” Senko wacky rigged.
  16. Well I use IPhone and generally get decent pictures but what I mean is how do I get the picture in the post to not be small and pixel-y?
  17. Ok... now if it’s not too much to ask how do I get decent image quality?
  18. So, my quest for urban bass fishing near to my house comes from not being able to drive (I’m 15) and relying on my parents to drive me, and they don’t like long drives. So I’ve found bass nearby in some creeks and a super public park. It’s amazing the places that I’ve been passing for years without dropping a line in. My personal best from in town is 3.5 and it was a pretty lucky catch. I know there’s bigger in the places I’m fishing, but what do y’all do differently when you’re fishing in public parks or pressured creeks to fool the bigger ones? Edit: mods can you pls move this I started it in the wrong forum
  19. Ta-Da!!!! Thx so much guys.
  20. Went back out to the creek and got a nicer one today. Would have killed for some casting gear in the murky water, the vines hanging down really made the fly rod a struggle. Never thought I'd get my first smallies in a jungle in Hawaii.
  21. Please can somebody help me out here. I ran out of space for pics probably a year ago and have just stopped posting pics since then, been really hating it lately so I've tried what other topics said about how to upload pics from a URL. I tried that and have been struggling for hours to get a pic up. I've started 3 new accounts on Postimage, Photobucket and another one but I must be stupid because they don't work. When I copy the URL for forums and put it into the "Upload from URL" space it just goes red and doesn't upload. Could somebody just give it to me step by step how they post pictures, I'm pretty desperate to show y'all some recent catches. Edit: I was able to post a pic yesterday and thought I'd gotten lucky or something and could now post more but tried again today and nope. ?
  22. Adding fatheads is silly, they won’t last two months with all those hungry bass and bluegills. Those added largemouth MAY be good to add later if genetics is really the problem, but definitely not right now. If you add them they will just create more mouths to feed, and without proper forage they will become skinny. I’d remove some of your larger bluegill (keep the trophy gills, loads of fun with the ultralight) and especially your small bass. If you want quality bass you have to remove all of the little bass that compete for food and don’t get enough to grow. Also get rid of any crappie, unless you are really intent on keeping them. They aren’t very big but they can eat loads of young of the year fish that you need to feed your bass. Please check out the Pond Boss, he deals with situations like this all the time. You could also read the articles we have on bassresource found here:https://www.bassresource.com/lake-management/
  23. Not if you don’t hook it by the actual gills, just the gill covers. I’ve just seen before where the clip kind tears through the mouth and causes bleeding which is nearly a death sentence for bass.
