  1. You sure it's not chuckin' and windin'?
  2. Did you take it apart and look at it?
  3. Would like to know the same thing since the cost of the regular version and Smartcraft gauges are a bit steep.
  4. A new Daiwa Lexa 300 HSL. The gift cards in my wallet were talking to me...
  5. In OH, the DNR and Dept of Watercraft are not directly involved with boat transfers. You need to go to the Title Bureau for titles and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for tags. At least here in my local area they are side by side. And you need to have a title to register a boat and trailer. Trailers requires tags unlike KY. And bring plenty of $$$.
  6. No, no fish caught or seen. We were on the north bank next to the dam for a while. The wind was supposed to light and variable but was 10-15 out of the east and pretty cold. Wind eventually died down. Fished a couple coves but never got down to the river.
  7. Where did you find those temps? Fished there Sunday and the warmest I found was 48 at Claylick. I only fished the main lake, though.
  8. Some of the "pill" models will self inflate if left in a high humidity environment for long periods of time. Under normal use and care they should be fine. But I'm leaning to the HIT style that requires water pressure to inflate (Mustang line). These are not sensitive to high humidity and have to be submerged to inflate. I would not have a vest that you can override the auto capability. If you do that and forget, or accidently disable it, and go into the water you may end up drowning, especially if you're unconscious.
  9. Other than throwing a worm at every piece of grass, these two patterns helped my wife and me catch many fish. If the wind wind is up and making a decent chop on the water throw a buzzbait or topwater spinner and burn it in front of the cuts out to the grass flats. That worked on both the Big L and Aerojet a few times. But only when the wind was making small waves. My wife beat my butt butt a couple of times using a deep crank with (20+) and tossing it up against the bank while I was paralleling it closely. . Holding the rod high she would slowly crank the bait over the top of the grass until it got to the edge. Then she would drop her rod tip and crank like hell. The fish would nail it as soon as it dove along the edge. Lots of different techniques that will work, though.
  10. 10 or 11 seagulls from the jetties at Destin, FL with frozen cigar minnows (early 80's). An otter on a worm in the Everglades. Wife "caught" an alligator there as well. Mussels, freshwater clams. Lots of sticks and branches.
  11. The easiest thing to do is mount the Ulterra on a MKA-21 quick disconnect mount. Then all you would need to do pull the pin and lift it straight up if it malfunctions.
  12. A Daiwa Lexa 300 to replace the 80's Shimano Bantam on my lighter Muskie rod. Couple packs of Storm 360Gt searchbaits. Spare prop for my Terrova. Next month will be a handheld VHF radio. Can't fish with it but need one in the boat.
  13. Be careful out there when the winds come up... http://www.itemonline.com/sports/outdoors-anglers-fight-for-survival-after-boat-sinks-in-tournament/article_8cc1f13f-7c14-5eeb-98b2-878bf54e537f.html
  14. I'm very happy with my v hull compared to my bass boat. Much more comfortable. I bass, crappie and Muskie fish from it without any problems. It is a walk-thru windshield type that really helps in the fall and early winter. No more getting drenched on cool, windy days. There is more floor space than the BB but somewhat less compartment storage. The back deck on the v hull was very narrow but mine came with an optional flip up deck extension that has folding seats underneath. Cost considerably more than $10k though
  15. Pb&j's, ham & cheese, turkey & cheese. Occasional pop tarts. Chips. Gatorades.
  16. It's nice to have the extra power when you need it. Yes, the 24v system requires two batteries but the extra weight isn't that noticeable. Lugging two batteries out of the boat could be a pain but im sure the increased performance will offset the inconvenience. Use a small cart to move them if needed. Not sure of your setup. Do you have room for an additional battery? How old is the first one and what size is it? Both batteries for a 24v system should be the same size and close to the same age. Yes, you can install a transducer on a Terrova. I have my Humminbird transducer mounted on mine. Couple ways to do it. One is to run the cable up the groove in the shaft thru he transmission and up to the head (silicone it inplace). That way the cable turns with the motor. But it could void your warranty since you have to do a partial removal of the head. A second way is to wrap the cable around the shaft near the lower unit, route it up to the chassis and use an attachment (spring, retracting cord, dipsy snubber) to keep tension on the cable but allow it to coil/uncoil as the motor turns. The *** forum has a ton of threads and pics on the subject.
  17. Heavily pressured lakes, heavily traveled lakes (jet skis, ski boats, the unknowing/clueless pleasure boaters driving blindly as if no one else was there). A mental issue that comes to mind...second guessing my location. A "the grass is greener" type of problem. Instead of focusing on the area I'm in I'll start thinking another place may be better. Switching lures too frequently is another "problem". Switching lures is fine if I'm working a small area...drop off, falldown, sunken brush. But sometimes when I'm moving I switch lures every few casts because the "something else should work" thoughts pop into my head.
  18. USAF MSgt/Ret. 1977-1995 Navy DOD civilian 1995-1999
  19. Buzzbait Spinnerbait Rat-L-Trap Texas worm rig
  20. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. the fishing and hunting portion of the show was cancelled due to lack of participation It was posted on the Cincy Hunting and Fishing FB page. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=cincinnati hunting and fishing show 2017
  21. HAHAHA! Reminds me of the day we got about 3" of rain in 30 mins at Homestead AFB. Had about 2 - 2 1/2 feet of water in the road. Watched a 4X4 pulling a guy on a surfboard drive passed the house. So I got one of my rods and was casting a spinnerbait across the street onto the golf course. We'll do some crazy stuff, won't we?
  22. All my days on the water are what I'd consider the "best". Fish or no fish. I did catch a nice 2-3 lb bass while Musky fishing one day. Another day caught a 32" Musky. Had a 3-4 lb bass follow a large spinner up to the boat then just hang there for a minute. Fished in the rain, fished a foggy day with only about 200' visibility, fish in the heat and wind. All good days. Also watched Osprey catch fish next to me and a bald eagle do a fly-by. Good stuff.
  23. I hope you get the storm especially after they let the water out BEFORE you got any. Seems ass backwards to me especially with the record of weather guessers being incorrect most of the time. If the storm doesn't produce the amount that is predicted things will go from bad to worse.
  24. -1 deg. High of 18 today.
  25. Each school district is different. Mason and Lakota are usually the last to cancel. CSD usually the first. The cold closings baffled me as well until I figured out how they built some of these schools. Marginal heating systems and cathedral ceilings are not a good combination. Lakota built twin monoliths to past school boards that have got to cost a fortune to heat and cool (hence our tax levies). The school buses don't exactly provide unlimited heat, either. Even some companies around here close because "it's cold outside". Go figure...
