  1. 35 mins to my local lake. 3 hrs to Cave Run. 5 to Lake St Clair.
  2. I “upgraded” and downsized at the same time. I had an ‘03 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 but purchased a ‘18 Chevy Colorado with a 2.8 turbo diesel. Tow rating is 7700# which is way more than my Skeeter. Tows great, exceptional fuel mileage towing and unloaded. It’s been a good truck so far. 34,500 miles in two years. It’s my first diesel and has done everything I’ve needed it to do.
  3. Sad to hear that. Prayers to his family.
  4. I fish most exclusively for them now. Many really good lakes in OH, KY and IN for them. Yeah, it’s demanding, especially fishing alone. But to be honest, I’ve done better fishing for them than bass on OH waters. Biggest is 47” from Eagle River and 42” at Caesar Creek just up the road. This year has been tough due to work and weather. But the temps are dropping now even if work is not. Need to get back up to LSC in Oct.
  5. Jbsoonerfan, Thanks for the info. Yes, anything I followed or replied to had daily email notifications. I turned all those off as well as updated my account settings. Must have been a system update that triggered these as I’ve never received them before. IDK. Appreciate the help.
  6. For the last few months I’ve been receiving 10-20 email notifications per day about “new content”. While I haven’t actively participated in the forums lately I have browsed the threads for info or a chuckle from time to time. Doubt that has anything to do with my emails blowing up. I can generally tell it’s BR when my unopened emails jumps a dozen and more. How is do I stop this? Thanks.
  7. I use the Uni-to-Uni knot for my braid-to-leader connection but the Palomar or Double Palomar for everything else. Been using the Palomar since the '80's. Too easy to tie not to use it. Even on bigger stuff as long as the line isn't twisted. The FG looks interesting and I might try that for my leader connection next time. BTW, I'm running 65# Power Pro with either 100# or 130# fluorocarbon leaders. Muskies are not very forgiving.
  8. Our lakes are a mess on the weekends from Memorial Day to past Labor Day. People just don't have a clue. Buy a boat, hit the water, no instruction needed, right? You need to have eyes in the back of your head and your head on a swivel at all times. If it's not the jetskis it's the wake boats throwing up big rollers right next to you. Almost went overboard a few times this year because of them. One of the lakes north of here (Columbus) is split into four sections by roads/bridges. Two southern sections are run what ya brung. The northern two are idle only/no wake. You can fish in peace in the northern sections but they aren't necessarily the best.
  9. d**n idiot! That video is a compelling reason to have licensing and age limits for those things. But no matter how many rules and regs there are there will always be this kind of kid doing this.
  10. Progressive is one of the worst out there for this kind of crap. They pulled the same thing on me when a grandma rear ended me on my bike the week before Christmas 2006. Nickle and dimed me to death on top of using the wrong parts in their estimate (I was a H-D tech then and could do all my own repairs). And they were MY insurance company since she didn't have the correct insurance paperwork at the time of the accident. I'll NEVER have them again as an insurance company. Glad you got your truck back but sorry it's in such bad shape. Makes ya want to tie the SOB to the back bumper and drag him 400 miles...
  11. And the next name is.......Legend. That's the rumor. Gone the way of the Dodo bird.
  12. Heard from our Lowe's district rep (?) about this. Lowe will no longer be carried by Cabelas. They will be able to order parts and file warranty claims for 90 days but after that nada. They can no longer order new Lowe boats. Heard about this last year from a second Lowe dealer but was hoping it wouldn't come about (I have a Lowe). BTW, our local Cabelas will not be carrying Tracker as there is a BPS only 18 miles away and a separate Tracker dealer in between.
  13. Ill take this cool weather over 90s any day of the week. We've been up and down around here all summer. As for climate change, it's been happening since the day the earth was born. We will continue to see changes until we and it dies. Hope I can keep fishing that long. ?
  14. Cheap auto inflate means it will open when you don't want it to (when the "pill" gets wet) and not when you need it to (out of the boat and unconscious). Youre better off with an standard vest and not taking it off.
  15. Latest gossip on the crappie catch is using jigs 8' below a bobber in 15' of water. Wax worms are working as well.
  16. Order them from Walmart online and have them shipped to the store closest to you. No charge for shipping like that.
  17. Those load testers pictured above can get real hot when testing a battery. Since most batteries are kept in the same storage area as the fuel tank on most boats I'd recommend removing the batteries prior to testing. This will also lessen the damage if a battery were to explode while being load tested. It happens from time to time, just like when jump starting a battery, as I've seen over 18 yrs of working with them. It's infrequent but it happens.
  18. I ran a Champion 17' model back in the 80's and early 90's. Wish I still had it. My ex says she sees it around town (NE FL) from time to time. Great boat for Okeechobee. Not the fastest but outperformed all the others in my two clubs in rough water. Never felt unsafe in any of the mid- to south FL lakes. This pic was taken before I extended the deck back to the console.
  19. The Minn Kota Terrova, Ulterra and Ultrex have their own built in gps. I can't speak about any other brand.
  20. Weigh Safe – as well as most experts agree – that an acceptable tongue weight for any trailer is somewhere between 9 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight (GTW). Therefore, if you are towing a 5000 lbs trailer, the tongue weight should be measured at approximately 500 lbs. https://www.weigh-safe.com/towing-safety/how-to-measure-tongue-weight/
  21. And you guys are still friends? If it were me I'd drill small holes in your drain plugs. Then watch you pulling you hair out trying to find the "leak". ?
  22. People enjoying their Watercraft without any other activity attached to it. Kinda like people who ride ATVs and UTVs without rifles, shotguns, tree stands and backpacks. Sometimes it's nice to just go out boating. Looking forward to running the Ohio River with my wife without all the rods and tackle boxes.
  23. You wouldn't get to fish much around here, then. There must be a different definition for different regions of what is "light and variable"...
