  1. See Catt’s post. Tip: for additional action, add a five inch single tail grub in white or chartreuse.
  2. Put a ZMan Ned craw on that baby. Mike strikes again!
  3. Reaction Innovation has the Man Bear Pig. It has a wedge on the “head” that helps hold the bait from sliding down with an EWG style hook. The body is also flatter and has some glide when using lighter bullet weights. I’m glad Zoom came out with the 5 inch BH and expect it to be really good as well. Great options
  4. Practice in the yard, fish in the water. Don’t give up! A properly adjusted Max with 12 pound mono and a 3/8 oz bait should get you casting with confidence pretty quick.
  5. For those of you who have a sportsman’s warehouse close by they have a 25 percent off sale on all Yamamoto, Strike King, Googlygans and some other bass related products. Your welcome.
  6. I used Lake Fork Tackle brand for years then BBB came out with there own. I Texas rig them with an OMTD wide gap hook in 4/0 and a flippin weight around 1/4 or 3/8 . Colors are simple with black:blue, Cali 420 and watermelon red flake. Great bait to throw behind other anglers. It shines in buck rush and bushes.
  7. Crayfish on the Columbia above Portland Ore. are very dark brown with the ends of the claws a bright blue. Crayfish on the lower River and sloughs are more of an avocado peel color in the early spring. As the water warms they transition to rusty browns with orange-red sides. So dark jigs or hula grubs with blue tips or accents early and mud craw or brown/purple or brown/orange later.
  8. I picked up a half dozen bags during a local shop bait sale. Normally I wouldn’t do that. After reading all the pro staffer hype about this bait I still wasn’t convinced. I wanted real credibility, some one who wasn’t paid to use or tout the bait, someone who fished a drop shot like a pro, someone who could articulate the merits of the product. So when A-Jay wrote we better get us some, the gloves came off and the wallet was opened.
  9. If you use braid to leader on one of the rods, the answer is easy.
  10. Well I know where I wasn’t........... in the back of a pickup truck behind a bar.
  11. And the Speed Trap has quietly caught fish for over thirty years.?
  12. Me too. The lizard went the way of the dinosaur when the brush hog hit the scene.
  13. Your not doing anything wrong. Sometimes bass come at the bait straight from the rear and fold the paddle tail forward and over the point of the hook preventing the required penetration past the barb.
  14. A grub, plain and simple. I used to throw a grub and even pitch them like a finesse bait in medium vegetation. I’ve got to get back to that deal. Thanks for bringing the topic up!
  15. It seems most company’s watermelon is more translucent so it is a better base to add metal flake accents. Watermelon red flake can be really good at times.
  16. Other than the blanks being unsanded the action and power to stated rating are pretty accurate. Handles and reel seats are identical to the Champion series. My K610-4CB has the same action as my Champion 704CB. Dobyns went with Seaguides alconite for the guide series and they are lined up on the spline. May experience with Seaguides has been been very good. Note the guide count unlike some manufactures who will short a guide to save money. The quality of cork on my Kadens has been AAA. Oh, and balance is typical Dobyns, neutral.
  17. Jigs: black-blue Plastics: green pumpkin or 420
  18. Glacier Glove.
  19. Out of the models you listed the 735 CB Glass would be my choice hands down. The CB glass are composite blanks. You’ll get a delayed reaction tip with power. The Kaden series offers a 735 CB in all graphite. If you want to save a few bucks 80, this would also be an excellent choice.
  20. I figured red must have some special attraction, all the Jackhammers I bought have a little dealy on them. They all get bit but I’m missing all the bites. I need to change rods or something.
  21. My last trip in 2020, after a lousy COVID impacted season, I/we were able to get on a lake with lots of deep water structure. It was my first real chance to crank deep. I had back to back four plus pound fish from 18 feet or so. Those two fish absolutely got the juices flowing and in about a month the long rod will be back in my hands. I’m stoked to get that deep bite going again. Anyone else hot to get on something like that beside me? CC
  22. Red is a fickle color for me and most anglers I know here locally. Reddish browns and reddish greens have worked when there is ample stain to the water. I read that red is one of the first shades to loose it’s color as the light penetration decreases. It would seem reds would have good contrast though. I have enough baits in red hues to cover most scenarios though.
  23. With the addition of the MB Vision Jr. spinning will most likely com into play .
