  1. Reaction Innovation’s Man Bear Pig. Missile Baits Baby Destroyer. Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog. You don’t hear much about these baits but they are very very effective for me.
  2. I also have both, Chatterbound and. Bandersnatch. For bladed jigs the Chatterbound is my choice. It’s an exceptional rod but very simplistic. The MB is apples and oranges. What it has going for it, besides good looks, is a “regular” action. That action will be a plus in bladed jig fishing. It’s also pretty sweet for spinnerbaits, buzz baits and Super Spooks.
  3. The term coach is relative. Coaching is a teaching style. Sharing knowledge is teaching. Coaching is a style to help show or demonstrate how to apply that knowledge to the level you develop skills. When I was a police officer I coached young/new officers how to gain and apply knowledge and they developed skills along the way. As far as bass fishing, I’ve coached high school kids in much the same manner. I’ve also had many many anglers teach or coach me. The greatest lessons however have been self taught. Don’t underestimate your own ability to teach yourself, learn your own lessons or develop your own skills. Too much of today’s lessons are just given without the expectation of having to work at seeking knowledge and information. There’s no sacrifice or work involved and there is little vetting of what is being handed out. Put in the work and the reward will follow. That is something I try to instill in the high school team anglers.
  4. I’ll wear my Mustang when running the big motor. I want the benefit of assisted flotation. I’m aware there’s no Coast Guard approval. Thanks!
  5. Has anyone here had or has any experience with Striker’s Float Vest? My other half is rightfully insisting I wear a PFD when fishing solo. This looks like a reasonable option.
  6. Dobyns Kaden Travel 712SF.
  7. Look at Reno 5 Orra Winch. 5:4-1 and long handle. Centrifugal brakes. There are a couple positive reviews. FYI
  8. Daiwa has a 5.5 to 1 in the Zillion and Tatula 150 . I have one of each and like both.👍👍
  9. I’ve purchased two rods based on YouTube information. Done with that.
  10. Brain freeze on both parties.
  11. Tackle Direct has them listed in that color for both 4.5 and 6 inch.👍
  12. 1972 Terry Basser with an Evenrude 60 hp and a Shakespeare 17 lb thrust hand control trolling motor. I did a rebuild of the front deck and gunnels. I reinforced it to accommodate a 45 lb MinnKota, repainted the top cap, new seats and carpet. That has been the starter boat for more guys than I recall. Sadly it sits in the middle of an acre of blackberry briars. I have many wonderful memories in that boat.
  13. Sieberts has a limited edition Sniper jig with the old school rubber skirts on sale for 3.50 and wire tied. Only two colors available but they are the right ones. Put a Zoom Critter Craw on these and you’re good to go.
  14. I remember my first Bandit 100. You ordered them by mail and got five for 12.99. I got Tennessee Shad. The chartreuse blue back is still catching them. Tom is right.
  15. Back in the 70’s you could buy jigs in 12 pack bags or on staple cards for 69 cents each. Bronze hooks that were tiny and nylon rope type material for brush guards. Stanley jigs had the greatest impact with a plastic Y guard, multi colored heads and dual color skirts. They ran 99 cents each on the early eighties. The fact that you can get an Owner or Gamakatsu hook, designed for jigs, a designed head, 3-D eyes, multi colored skirt in dual materials and wire tied for about five bucks is amazing. I absolutely love Sieberts jigs. Buy one and you’ll see why. As for going cheap, I fish rocky snaggy, eat jigs all up and down the Columbia. I fish Hula Grubs on football heads I buy from a local guy by the 100 count. But that’s grub fishing.
  16. I need to go more. That’s why I ordered a case of Metamucil on Amazon.
  17. I would encourage you to look att the NFC Edge Delta NEO 755-1. It has a very unique action that is slower in the tip but has surprisingly great power. If you throw 6 inch Mag Drafts, this model is really good. I even throw 1 1/4 ounce deep crankbaits on it and it does that very well. I’ll have to post a photo later.
  18. The only person who needs to know the full content of my tackle is my insurance agent.
  19. Kneel and Reel. Back in the early eighties Pail Elias won the Classic by getting his Normans Deep Little N an extra two feet by plunging his rod in the water. I bought a Lews Kneel & Reel rod. That was a bust.
  20. Arguably the best baitcaster ever produced. My buddy is a steelhead guide and begged me to sell him mine ten years ago. He still fishes them.
  21. I have two. You’ll love it. Now my cataract surgeries are done I bought myself regular polarized sunglasses. One pair for driving and a pair for fishing. 👍👍
