  1. The tube. Or as Al Lindner would call it, a Toooooob. Simple and effective for smallmouth and largemouth.
  2. Every lure is a tool. Frogs work the top of the water column. That's what they are designed to do. Both types of frogs provide silhouette and profile. Each style provides a different style of movement or lack of movement. The fish will tell you what they prefer, i.e., walk, bob, pop, large gurgle, subtle gurgle and so on. Solid body frogs are meant to move continuously at what ever speed you chose or vary. Hollow body can be moved and provide the ability to stop and sit still which is nice. The fish and cover type will tell you manner they want the bait. Color needs are simple. Light, dark and natural fill the bill. If there was a bait type that provided an angler with some latitude in bait selection, this might be it.
  3. Normans DLN. You guess the color.
  4. "Playoffs??????? Playoffs???????" Jim Mora
  5. Call Dobyns and tell them your situation and ask them for trade up options with in the warranty. The new Sierra line is a marked improvement over the previous Savvy. Something to think about. I have had nothing but great service from Dobyns to date.
  6. I would like to think I've met more nice, friendly, courteous engaging anglers than those demonstrating poor etiquette, although they do exist. When I do, I address it like Woodrow F. Call in the movie Lonesome Dove. " I can't stand rude behavior in a man.....won't tolerate it." Google it.
  7. Lots of options.......Four preferred. All are well made with great components. War Eagle Peppers Revenge Stanley
  8. The Dobyns, as mentioned is split handle in the Sierra Line. The 733 will be under powered as a jig rod. The 734 is better suited in any Dobyns series. I should have my new XP744C jig rod tomorrow. That's full grip which I also prefer. Hope this helps.
  9. Sorry A-Jay, just teasing. Dobyns DX745 Revo Premier #20 Sunline S-Waver in light trout
  10. Do you ever wear a hat? Warmouth: .81 pounds Rod: LCI 701 spin Reel: Shimano Sahara Line: Trilene #4 Lure: Beetle spin in yellow black Those Warmouth can really pull. My buddy holds the Washington State Record and blew mine out by over and ounce.
  11. Black Dog Lunker Punker and Shellcracker
  12. Bandit went to PRADCO. I haven't read about a quality issue with them. I'm being optimistic. Fortunately, I have 17 of my favorite color in the DLN and back ups in other colors and models. It's a sad commentary....Innovation/America v. Production/Off shore. Global economy. The outsourced baits have visible weld seams on the back and belly. I'm think they eliminated a step to smooth the seams. Hooks look good. Finishes with the gel coat looks the same. Now we'll see how they run. My USA stocks all ran true. I can tune a bait fine but it's an inconvenience.
  13. Only if I feel I'm gong to die. The Columbia River can be frightening. When grain barges are sunk, it's bad.
  14. If he was arraigned in my local Superior Court he would have been PR'd. I'm not joking. Thank God no one was killed.
  15. I have one of each. The technical differences have been noted . The Type R is .2 oz. lighter. The difference in casting a actually negligible. The lighter spool and spool bearing upgrade gives the Type R a very slight edge in casting lighter baits. Worth the 50 bucks? That's debatable.
  16. I'll pass, unless it comes with a coupon for a free colonoscopy and EKG.
  17. I guess I evaluate products, like reels a bit differently than some people. I let the overall performance speak for the product. The MB is lighter, that's a fact, It's seven tenths of an ounce lighter. The MB has two more bearings than a CT. They are found in the reel handle knobs. The MB has more cast control options. The technology each reel's cast control system provides is apples and oranges. They are not in any way similar in design. The frame platforms are very different. Each reel sits very differently on the rod's reel seat. The CT employs a level wind system that is not fixed and changes positions as it engages after the free spool and that is a very different feel when you have fished a fixed free spool system reel for the last 40 years. Each model has it's own engineering and design features. Different does not mean better. Stats alone don't assure performance. I have a sentimental attachment to Lews products. I still have the first five Lews reels I bought..... 36 years ago. But I;m getting to liking those heavy clunking, whimpy dragged Diawas.
  18. You don't measure your age by how much you get hurt. You measure your age by how long it takes to heal. By the way... I have an 18 inch Rockhopper Pro Comp with all Ritchie components you can have for $1.00
  19. Eighty bucks. At 119.99 new and taking a third off, that's close.
  20. I own both. I have the CT and CT type R as well as the MB and a handful of other Lews and Diawas. These are both great everyday work horse reels that cast and pitch well. If you have small hands the Lews may be more comfortable. The differences are very subtle. The Diawas have a different feel when reeling a bait. It's the cut of the gears I think. I feel more attached but that's just me. When the T wing clicks back in place, it's a bit harsh but not bad. You can't go wrong with either reel. The stuff out there right now is impressive.
  21. Flashover Baits out of Kentucky is really good for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Outlaw Baits out of Florence Oregon makes an excellent tube and Cabin Creek in Idaho. Brad Schoenborn of Brad's Wigglers is a friend of mine. His Bait, although a STS staple is a great mid depth wiggle wart type bait with super finishes. There a soft bait maker who sells out of Phil's Propellers in Redding California. Incredible stuff there too. The list goes on forever. There's some real jewels out there we have never heard of.
  22. Be prepared for this: Family law IS gender bias. Family law is AN INDUSTRY and your Attorney will bill you in six minute increments at an average of $21.50 per increment. The attorney will string the process out as long as they can. Stay out of court but, if the mother files a motion for a parenting plan, do not try and represent yourself Pro Se. You'll regret it. Be prepared to spend three to ten grand right off the bat. If the mother enters a motion for a temporary parenting plan and requests a guardian at litem, (GAL) research that person's back ground as there have been GAL's that actually were employed by the a mother's attorney's law firm. You have 30 days to file for impeachment if the GAL looks suspect. If you are assigned a GAL, they will conduct an " investigation" and get well paid for it and you will see a substantial portion of that fee. Your personal life will be an open book. The truth will mean little and context means nothing to some GAL's. I have read GAL reports that were an abomination as an objective investigation. A GAL report will most likely have recommendations for the parenting plan attached. Be prepared for a gender bias report. The recommendations will be from a template and only modified. Family law judges are often pro tem, commissioners and or family law attorneys themselves. The good old boy relationships are very real. Pick your attorney carefully. Father's attempting to speak in court are often cut off at the knees by the "judge." Your attorney will give you directives and advice in serving motions. Any legitimate attorney will have motions and accompanying paperwork served by a paid server. Don't serve paperwork or be present at a service. Remain above reproach. Try and come to a quick and equitable resolution outside of trial. The process will drain you emotionally, physically and financially. This information is not all inclusive. It's complex. Do not expect fairness. Now: Unless a Court has entered an Order limiting your parental rights.... You have exactly 50% of all parental rights and rights to custody of your child. Police cannot enforce civil Orders such as parenting plans or custody disputes outside of a valid Order denying your right to custody. Violations require a contempt motion. Orders such as Restraining Orders or No Contact Orders will have a criminal legend and violation can result in an/your arrest. Find someone you trust that has experienced this process and listen to them. Do your research well in advance. Document everything. Document everything. Document everything. Be patient and keep your calm. Don't allow resentment toward anyone effect your love for your daughter. AVOID social media going forward. I am not attorney. This is not legal advice, just a warning. Each state has their own constitution and may trump some of what I shared with you. I hope your situation will not get ugly. Some get very very ugly. Good luck young man.
  23. Take a look at the Mustang 3087. It's a 35 LB rating and is a series V. It's portable, adjustable and comfortable.
