  1. One my local high school has a bass fishing team. Great kids. Most of my older rods were donated to these guys and in turn they became hand me downs to new members. My current arsenal is five years old or newer.
  2. Spence Scout Johnson Silver Minnow OG Rapala Minnow Ring Worm Zipper Worm A pain old Zoom Lizard. When I found the Brush Hog, Lizards just went away. Lake Fork Craw Tube. YUM Wooly Bugger.
  3. Love for the stuff and then working hard at learning how to use it.
  4. I just mentioned you in my Last Will & Testament. I left you all my left handed rods and all my reels that have no anti-reverse. There you go.
  5. I'm truly sorry for such a loss. Life is precious and relationships even more precious. I lost my Dad over 20 years ago and miss him as much today as back then. By the way, I don't believe your venting, you're reaching out and that's a good thing.
  6. I bought one early last year. I also love the OG Zillion platform. The SV spool is nice and the reel over all casts exceptionally well with all weight ranges. I don't see the reel's weight being a big deal. If you like the OG Zillion you will love the SV103. By the way, I was able to get a deal on mine for $230.00 so that made the decision easy.
  7. Steelheaders in my area will drop a hundred bucks for them no questions IF they are left hand retrieve. I sold my last one to a buddy for 75 bucks. They are tanks.
  8. " Honey....i'm sure these drawers will prematurely wear out so I'm going to get a new stack set for my heavy tools but this one won't go to waste, i'll have to put my crankbaits in it." Yeah, that's it....no ball bearings....prematurely wear out. I'm tracking now.
  9. I can count the number of unopened packages on one hand...............to the 10th power.
  10. I give that song a 9. I think I own the 45. I definitely owned that sweater!
  11. Happy New Years back to you Roger. I wish everyone a safe, enjoyable and relaxing New Years Eve. My granddaughters are having a " sleep over " with Nana and Papa. " I'm sure i'll be stuck watching Willie Wonka And The Chocolate Factory at some point. I lead such a reckless life.
  12. Your argument or view could be presented to address youth football, little league baseball, motocross and so on. In every sport including outdoor sports, where there is some form of competition, sponsors will seek to capitolize it to sell product. It's a reality you cannot escape. Poor behavior, corrupt behavior, lack or integrity, the absence of common courtesy, lack of sportsmanship is found everywhere. I am accountable for my behavior, teaching my children and grandchildren proper values and modeling those behaviors consistently. "A good name is to be valued more than fine gold." I agree with you that there is plenty of room for improvement and sending a better message. WELCOME to BR !!! Doug
  13. Glenn, I had no idea this thread even existed. I'll be honest and admit I was a bit skeptical as I read the initial one or two. But then I read the post by Chug Bug. At that point, I read the rest of the posts and saw some members who were struggling in so many different ways. I was taken back by many being so honest, transparent and open. I would support this thread being resurrected. Good for you!
  14. I don't have any Megabass jerkbaits. I don't throw the Ned rig. If they will hit that, they'll hit a tube and I have hundreds of tubes. I don't have any underspins but that will change this year. I can see a scenario where that could be great. I don't have any articulated football jig heads but can see a scenario where that could be really effective. Don't have any blade baits and don't see where I will. Sorry A-Jay.
  15. Don't rule out the 1/8 oz. size either. I throw it on casting gear with 10# all the time. It's deadly when the bait is small. I have some custom painted but that's a secret.
  16. Luhr Jensen Speed Trap LC 1.5 6th Sense Crush 65 SK 1.5 Normans Little N and Fat Boy Bandit 100 These all have a place in my boxes.
  17. One of the most dangerous words in the English language: Speculate
  18. I'm not patient, not at all. It's not in may nature. I am however tolerant but with limits. I am pretty curious, a problem solver and an observer. I'm also a bit analytical but come to a reasonable conclusion pretty quick. This translates to my approach to fishing for bass. I do not define a good fishing day by the catch rate. In fact, some of the most enjoyable days, the catching just wasn't good. I love to share the experience with someone else. I don't always look forward to going fishing just to go fishing but look forward to going fishing with people I enjoy to be with. Some are accomplished anglers and some are backlashes just waiting to happen. I feed off their enthusiasm and excitement. Many years ago I was steelhead fishing with a very good friend. I had hooked and lost 11 fish in about four hours. I became very frustrated and came withing an inch of throwing my rod in the river and scream in a profanity laden diatribe ( cuss out ) at my failure to land even one fish. My buddy was two for two. I had to sit down and reflect on my attitude and to ask myself why I was acting like that. I was robbing myself of a lot of fun. I changed my outlook. My live-well became half full so to speak. Now I look to fish with people who enjoy the experience and do not measure the success of the day SOLELY on the creel count. Now, I can't wait for it warm up so I can get out....with my God-son. I enjoy being on the water with him. Life is like a box of chocolates......you have to eat a cream once in a while to get a caramel.
  19. An Orange, peppermint stick and a tin cup.
  20. My Mom and Dad divorced when I was 23 years old. That's about forty years ago. When my Dad left my Mom, he didn't take much with him, but he did take most of the family photos and all the photos of his family before I was born. Our relationship was awkward for a long time after and his wife was did not want anything to do with me and my family. I learned to accept that. When my Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I was never notified he was having a lung removed but the information leaked out and I was there when the surgeon came in with the news. The next twenty nine months were special for both of us because it opened a door for me to become a part of his life and for his wife to see who I was. What ever issues she had with me paled in comparison with my desire to be there for my father and for her. My Dad died on a December day 20 years ago. My relationship with his wife quickly became distant. Well my step-mother recently passed away. Her son and daughter came to me. I hadn't seen them since my Dad's funeral service. They had gone through their mother's estate and found a box of photos. They were the photos my Dad took with him when he left. My Dad's wife never mentioned them to me and I did not press her. Her children immediately recognized what those photos were and what they might mean to me and they gave them to me. I have not had a single photo of my Dad and or his Mother, Brothers and Sisters until know. This is one of the greatest gifts I have received in my entire life. A picture is worth a thousand tears. It has helped me to have some closure in a time of year that isn't always jolly. It was special to see my Uncle, who is my name's sake and my Dad's baby brother. I can see myself in him. My Dad's baby sister looks just like my youngest daughter. I would have never known had not been for an act of kindness.
  21. Back to you DVT. Thanks for all the great info this past year. Doug
  22. Gamakatzu for me. After over 30 years they are proven.
  23. Got an SS SV103 today. My initial impression was very disappointing. The box is white and not black like my other Diawas. I hope it gets better from there.
  24. We normally put our Tree up on Christmas Eve. I have so much furniture to move to make it fit. I go all out for the holidays.
