  1. I was on the Lews web site and noticed they offer handle knobs that are textured. They look like a great upgrade. But I gave that consideration up quick at $16.99 for a single knob/grip. I don't understand how an item that simple to manufacture, Wynn grip aside, be so high priced. I'd buy seven sets if they were reasonable. I can't justify one set at the current price. I know, " then don't buy them." I would like to think Lews would like to help their customers upgrade when a good accessory become available.
  2. I can't believe I have not taken the time to view this thread until now. I ran through all pages and was just amazed, am amazed. There needs to be some national show for custom baits. I can see some here that would be best of show. Wow!!!
  3. I have two baits that are closed bend and the rest are R bend. The R bend, for me, are easier to tune once tweeked by a fish.
  4. Last week I told the wife it was time to start the season. Daffodills ready to bloom and a couple cherry trees blossomed. It snowed to inches yesterday and we expect another inch tonight. I can actually walk the dog with a Spro frog on the snow.
  5. 1/4 ounce Luhr Jensen Speed Trap. It's a west coast thing I guess.
  6. They better not. Going on a vacation and finding time to fish, like nine hours a day is different. Right ?
  7. Very pretty colonel, very pretty...but can they fight ?
  8. I'm like A-Jay, retired and a fixed income. I stocked up well before retirement. I still want one more spinning rod. The remainder will be consumables as needed. Minus the rod, I would be surprised if I spend over a hundred bucks all year.
  9. Little TW order. Some items on back order though.
  10. DX 743SH HP, Senko fish on that model.
  11. That model will do everything you listed and do it well.
  12. Spinnerbaits are actually pretty affordable. You can get a really good quality bait at six to eight bucks full retail and catch a bunch of fish on them. I like a bait that runs .040 to .045 wire diameter. That's just me. If I can catch enough fish that my spinnerbaits is tweaked and realigned to the point it breaks, I've had a good day.
  13. TV: Paladin, Lone Ranger Movies: True Grit original " Backwards.....I always go backwards when I'm backin' up " Outlaw Jose Wales " All I have is this piece of rock candy but it's not for eatin'.....just for lookin' through." The Shootist " Fetch me my spectacles Gilly boy." Big Jake " Dog. " Tombstone " Why Johnny Tyler you mad cap.....where you goin' with that shotgun?" Unforgiven " Why would I kill you kid? Your the only friend I got."
  14. Happy or Happier ? I'm running a 7.3 to 1 and it's fine with a chatterbait. Not much resistance to deal with.
  15. My wife would move to Florence in a second. I think i'll hang out right here.
  16. That must have been fun. Hank Parker is a legend.
  17. For the Fury the model best suited is the 734C.
  18. Too much coffee. Sorry
  19. The TT review is for the 706CB which is a much different rod. I've had my 736CB for almost a year and a half. The rod was designed as a chatterbait rod. There was a lot of interest in a composite rod for chatterbaits. Because the rod is a composite rod it had the CB designation. The range of weights for the rod is pretty broad at 1/4 to 7/8 ounce and the sweet spot is 3/8 and 1/2 ounce. The rod is very light for a composite and balanced, like all Dobyns. The rod has some serious power while employing a moderate tip. Unlike other Dobyns CB models, this model shuts off a bit quicker, part of the reason it's a great chatterbait rod. Once I fished it the first time, I tied on a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait and it has been my go to spinnerbait rod since. I have excellent feel of the bait. The 736CB is versatile in that it works very well for big wake baits and the jumbo squarebills. I plan to get another this spring, it's flat fun to fish. Don't let the 6 power designation scare you. That's a crankbait power which is different than the standard C series rods. Hope this helps you.

  21. Yes we are. Dobyns had a delivery of 735's labeled 736 and vice versa. I fish the 736CB which will come labeled as a 735 CB. This model impressed me right from the get go. If a composite rod isn't your thing, the Fury or Champion 734's are great SB sticks in their own right.
  22. One of my former co-workers took up bass fishing a year ago. He has a wife and four kids who LOVE to fish with him. We spent the day together this past Saturday and before he left I loaded him up with baits, not junk but stuff that catch fish. I just haven't used any of it for some time. It was a blessing to see him excited about his new tackle options. It makes to sense to have viable tackle just hang on pegs or lay in bags.
  23. I'll throw a wrench in the gears. Have you ever considered a composite rod ? The Dobyns mislabeled 735/736CB models at $170.00 are great. My 736CB is an insane spinnerbait rod. Just a thought.
  24. In 1999 I investigated a woman and her boyfriend for identity theft. She was able to obtain information and become five different women. In three months she purchased over $870,000.00 in real property and services by fraud. It was the case from hell. I recovered almost a hundred grand in jewelry alone. She was sentenced to 57 months in prison. The funny part was when I contacted her ex-husband because I had a lead she left twenty eight grand in jewelry with him. He told me he had no idea what I was talking about. He was wearing the one karat diamond studded earrings. We had a talk and he helped me recover six brand new vehicles she bought by fraud.
