  1. If I was just going to use mono, I would go with Trilene XT for baitcasters and XL for spinning. Used these two for years without any problems. I finally switched over to FC and now that is about all I use.
  2. Here is to everyone having a Merry and Safe Christmas !!!
  3. Exactly, fish don't have a calendar.
  4. For crankbaits, you will want a slower gear ratio. The BB1 is perfect. Also, the Lew's David Fritts Perfect crankbait rod would also match up with it. Put on 12# mono with a Bandit 100 and you are ready to catch some fish.
  5. Like cgolf, I recommend Bandit 100 crankbaits. They really catch fish and also they are one of the cheapest. My best colors are baby bass, tenn shad and chart, with blue or black back. Academy Sports generally has the best prices.
  6. Haven't been around long but I like the new. Sometimes change is hard.
  7. Congratulations !!!!!
  8. Picked up a couple packs of Robo worms, 2 sizes of shakey heads, and 3 Bandit crankbaits.
  9. Don't know how old it they are but I got two older Lew's BB1's. Still use them for crankbaits Think I bought them in the 80's.
  10. I really don't think one is better than the other. Presentation/color is more important than brand. Saying that, I'll take the Bandit, my favorite crankbaits.
  11. As long as your boat meets the requirements, the fish don't care.
  12. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!!! Hope 2016 is great for all !!!
  13. Looks like a good pickup. You can really get some deals at a flea market or Goodwill type store.
  14. I would go with the 40hp. Had one years back on a Bass Tracker and it was a great motor. Never had any problems with it.
  15. Nice of them to make up, love Lew's reels.
  16. I dont think Lew Childre every worked for BP. BP started in 1971 and was very small then, Lew's was introduced in 1973. The new owner of Lew's might have worked for BP, not sure. I doubt that the the reels are the same since each one has different specs.
  17. I prefer shorter rods. I have a Lowrider 6'6" Falcon MH spooled with 16# Sunline FC Sniper. I think MH is the way to go for wormin'.
  18. Agree, this is the only two colors that I throw, well at least 90% of the time.
  19. I agree on not getting rid of the outboard. That will put a limit on where you can fish. I don't know what kind of problems you have been having but list them on here. Lot of knowledge here that might could help you. If nothing helps, take it to a mechanic to have it fixed and make sure you get some warranty on it if it breaks again.
  20. It will take some time to get use to it but I believe it will be for the best. Thanks to Glenn and everyone who works on the site.
  21. Thanks Wayne, I did read them. I realize it said 1oz per gal. in tanks. This is other stuff I have read on the internet, just wanted to get some opimions.
  22. I guess I should have added that I use non ethanol gas and I use my boat all year so there is no winterazation. I assume that putting gas in the cyclinders would be for decarboning. Motor is a carbed 90hp Johnson, 1997.
  23. If you are going to use a tackle box, that Plano 7771 is a great looking box. !!!!
  24. Picked up a can of Seafoam the other night in Walley World. I then Googled Seafoam and found a bunch of info. Some loved it some hated it. Some used it in gas taink, some in cyclinders. Now I am more confused than before. I am thinking that i can put it in my taink and it will help somewhat, kind of like Sta Bilt. The other method is remove plugs, put about 4 ounces in each cyclinder and leave it for 2 days, after two days, with plugs removed, turn over motor to remove what Seafoam that is still in cyclinders. Put plugs in and run motor. Is this a good method. What do you think about Seafoam. How do you use it.
  25. Congrats on the new boat, i am sure you and your family will enjoy it. I think Alumacraft is a great brand.
