I say, if you like wearing it, wear it. If it protects from the sun or it is just comfortable, wear it. Personally I would not but I don't even like the pros looking like a bill board or NASCAR diver but I do get it. In the end it don't really matter.
If you are going to just use one 12 volt battery, you will probably be limited to 55# thrust. I would suggest the Minn Kota Edge. It is your basic trolling motor but a good one. I have used one for 4 years with no trouble at all.
Got this rod, it is a killer for dock fishing. My buddy told me that rod is too short, I told him that it is 3 inches longer than I use to throw back in the 70's/80's, thought I did OK with that length then.
Thanks for the video. Looks like they are going to work out great!! I really wanted them to work on my boat but they did not have the addition support that yours have. Also the ramps that I launch at are really steep, so steep, that I don't have to get in the water to launch, if fact, I could push my boat off with one hand very easy to launch when I had them on. When my bunks wear out, I might reconsider these again with the reinforcement. Glad they worked out for you.
I have never really thought about this. I have always just tie the knot, wet it, cinch it down. Where it lands is where it lands. I don't think it really matters.
