  1. I did, and it all came to a gringing halt last night!!! I dont have a lathe, or any woodworking tool outside of a, well, a piecec fo sandpaper I got a turned basswood blank from Jann's, the back 1/3 of the bait, I drilled a 1/4" hole, and filled it with lead. I dont' know if this is right or not, I figured it would help it walk better. I then sealed it all with Devcon, then painted. Completely ignoring the hook hangar and line tie holes!! When it came time to clear the paint, I broke a few screw eyes off, got one out of whack, but I think the general bait would work, though. Gonna take it out in a bit to try, see just how bad it is I'll post back when I do that, so you don't screw up where I did!
  2. Thanks guys! I'm flattered Allen - I like that pumpkinseed, but more than that, I like that jig with the hair, that's something I've never learned to do! I do sell stuff, just not the plugs! I'd love to move into more painting though. Speaking of collection, that's kind of what I'm trying to do, make a 'set' of colors/patterns like perch, bass, crappie, bluegill, shad, striper, etc, etc. Kind of a challenge to me, I figure if I can paint 'real' fish, I can paint any patterns out there that's catching them
  3. OK Here are a few spinnerbaits! Bass Shad Chart Another Bass And Bluegill These are fun to do!
  4. Dick Nite Lurecoat
  5. Thanks! I love painting Nah, not selling the plastic baits, they are cheap Lucky Craft knockoffs I got from Jann's, and they don't have the performance. But at $1.75 per blank, and they sell finished lures for $3 or so, you can't expect them to! I'm not willing to put my name on something like that, basically The bodies are great for practicing patterns on, that's for sure. I am working on some plugs, making them from scratch here at the house, I'll post some of those when I get a bit (ok, a LOT) closer! Thanks again for the compliments, and for looking
  6. Figured I'd let you guys know about our club, we're located in the triangle region of North Carolina, and fish out of jon boats powered only by electric motors. Been doing this since the early 90's, been online since around 99 or 2000, I can't remember! Here is our club website, with the schedule, rules, pictures and such. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them the best I can, thanks! -Sterling Peoples
  7. Yes! Get the paint from Lurecraft.com
  8. Do-It has released some tackle making kits this year, and a spinnerbait kit is one of them, not sure how many the kit allows you to make, but I'm pretty sure they are all around $30, but they include everything you need, and I think they all come with a DVD on tacklemaking, so when you've built them all, you still have a Plano and a DVD to watch
  9. What you're looking for is expensive!! Some of the suggestions included decals, which is a great, cost effective way to get this done. There are sites that have the necesary paper to print decals on an inkjet, then like another said, you could shoot the baits a single color, maybe two, then apply the decals, I'm referring to waterslide decals, but could do plain stickers, I suppose. The clearcoat hides the edges of the waterslide very well. Hagens printing out blades is a good idea too, the onyl negative I can think of is they won't really look like much unless they are attached to a spinnerbait, which has hooks, not the best thing to pass out to family and friends at a wedding, they might get a bit jealous If you want a 'trap, look to hagens or Jann's or Stamina for the smooth traps, they run $1/each in small quantities, less in more, then you could apply a sticker to that (would need to be smooth!), and clear, maybe even some paint to spruce it up a bit I'm jealous! My wife is so extremely indifferent about fishing! If I can help, let me know, I can paint, apply decals, clear, etc.
  10. Here are some baits I've painted recently, still working on making my own, so i'm using the plastic bodies as practice pieces Bluegill 1 Perch Panfish Brownish Bass This one is basswood, but it's shad
  11. Do-It has released some kits this year that have all the necessary materials to tie a few, it's a great way to get your feet wet at a low cost (the kits are around $30), then you can buy what else you need from some of the suppliers listed above.
  12. The motors are $13 from hagen's, and the table, you shoudl just make that out of plywood. I'd recommend not using those arbor things, instead making one long one out of some sort of pipe, and attaching multiple baits to it, kind of a waste to turn one lure per motor! I've got one of those motors, gonna get three, one for one-offs, and a spare, one to hang cranks on, and another for a buddy
  13. hi kb, did you paint those? That's awesome!
