  1. Okay, so just being sure of what I want to fish with the most and picking up good deals on those types of lures without buying entire lots containing things I may not use?
  2. This is finally the year I'm getting all the gear I need for my bass fishing ventures this year. I'm somewhat of a minimalist and use primarily two rods (1 BC, 1 spin). My question is, for someone like me on a budget, do you recommend going after tackle bundles/lots? My favorite baits are spinner baits, plastic worms/craws, buzzbaits, torpedos, jerks, and swimbaits. Any tips are welcome! Thanks!
  3. Look what we snagged into this weekend Nothing to weigh officially, but right around an 8. Love this stuff.
  4. I'm aware. Trying to get info from a trusted source before I decide on foam or a certain rack.
  5. Any thoughts on a good one to buy that would be good for 1 kayak? I've got a smaller car.
  6. Just how many straps do you want to use? I'll probably get foam blocks. 2 to secure the blocks, 2 to go inside doors, and 2 for bow and stern? Just need to know exactly what to buy.
  7. I'm curious about braid. I've always used mono 12 lb test. I think I would love a line that doesn't get distorted as easily. Is it easier to break braid though?
  8. I would be willing to find one in like new shape. Right hand retrieve. I have used a left hand retrieve sparingly because that's why my dad uses, even though he's right handed. Feels awkward to me. Probably easier to cast though.
  9. I've got my eye on the Lews speed spool or Pro Qualifier. Maybe paired with an Abu Vendetta or Berkeley Lightning rod??
  10. What are some good reel options I could get used for 100 ish or a little less?
  11. Can anyone else vouch for the No 8 blackout?
  12. I think I'm going to stick it out with one of my spinning setups, but I also want a baitcaster for my 2nd setup. Probably 7 feet. I have used my dad's lefty baitcast, but still have yet to learn how to do it well. Is it better to go after a combo or get the rod/reel separate? I'm looking at spending less than $150 total. Need some recommendations. Thanks!
  13. Can anybody recommend a strong pool noodle of some type? Would save some $ over actual kayak blocks.
  14. I know I have less work experience than you, OP, but I graduated with a double major in communication studies and public relations. Communication skills go soooo far. I was offered 3 jobs after I started applying, 2 of which had nothing to do with the field of communications/PR/marketing/etc... What I'm saying is, I was able to get those offers because I was a strong communicator. Whether or not I was educated, I still came off as educated. That builds a lot of trust. I do not know what exactly was said in your conversation with the manager, but like Choporoz, based on your post, I would suggest that the way you come across could use some work. Just my 2 cents - and I do hope the job search turns out for the very best.
  15. Thanks all for the advice. So many options online. But I'm almost scared to make a PFD purchase since I'd like to try something on. But I could always return it I suppose. I'll be making some buys online this week to get this hobby started.
  16. The fact that we are even having this conversation is just a shame. Just a great man who was enjoying something he loves. Very disappointing. Thoughts sent his family's way if by chance they are reading this.
  17. Working on outfitting my fishing kayak. I'm going to take it out a few times before I buy everything I want to put on it, but I wanted to see what you all thought about quality accessories so I have a plan of attack and know what to look for. I'm looking for the following.... Best foam blocks/straps for loading Waterproof containers Net Mono line backer Life jacket Roomy tackle boxes This would be a good start. I know what I want for a paddle and I know I'm going to get some PVC and a crate. Thanks all.
  18. I just picked up my Wilderness Systems Ride 115 today. I've got some DIY'ing to do this winter, but hopefully I can get out a couple times before the cold hits. Can't wait for the challenge. Probably going to join up with some state kayak anglers and get in some tournaments next year. Anyone else do a lot of bass fishing out of a kayak? Got any tips?
  19. I have a friend who is a broker in Arizona and he's golfing all the time. He has told me there are very busy times, but it still affords you the opportunity to do your work without being under someone's eye. Definitely seems like a good opportunity with some freedom.
  20. Entrepreneurship is also something I've considered. I enjoy social media and I think I could market myself well. The only thing is finding a niche that is unique.
  21. Also something I have considered. Guessing I would need to go get a masters degree somewhere if I pursued that. Another part of the struggle is wanting to move down south because I despise winter. I also have friends in GA, MS, TN, TX. But I don't have enough money to allow me to move before looking for a job.
  22. You know, I have thought about this. Did you go back to school to become a teacher? I actually majored in Elem. Ed. for a year in college and switched out due to my experience in one of the less privileged schools, which I sort of regret, but sort of don't. I wonder how long I would have to go back to school for... Thanks for the input.
  23. Part of me wants to go looking for it, part of me wants it to come to me. I'm 24, single, and I should go out and explore something else. But I would like to take my kayak with me, so I don't want it to be some $10 an hour internship when I have to pay student loans, rent, car, phone..blah blah blah haha.
  24. I'm a 24 year old guy who is still unsure of his career path. I graduated college in 2014 and am coming to realize I cannot sit in an office all day. Does anyone recommend any careers they really enjoy that has to do with being more active or working outdoors? I will never be one who gets much out of doing things based solely on money. Thanks!
