  1. I got my order of Vbeijll today, not sure it belongs with the bait 🐒 or not but it does take the moisture out of the tackle boxes. I’m sure I only need one per box’s
  2. @Sp33dSnake is right. I have a used 175 txw and love it. It has a 75 hp four stroke. And it would be perfect for you I believe, it has plenty of storage for me and my wife. I had it up to 41 mph so it has get up and go to it. In my opinion, it would be a great first boat for someone who’s never bought a boat before. Take that $5000 put it down on the new boat or a newer boat. If you go to Bass pro shop they won’t really give you a great deal. Anyway, that’s my two bits good luck purchasing your your boat.
  3. It is that time of year for me to clean some reels, line them up and get ready to do some fishing today, hopefully that is 😬
  4. So I decided to down side my jig rod after a previous post on jig rods. My Wife on Valentine’s Day, decided to get me a new fishing pole to replace the one jig rod that was broken on a previous fishing outing. It’s a Lews custom lite rod that is 7’6” medium heavy with fast action. It came in today so I’m excited about using it which if all goes according to plan I’ll be fishing this coming Tuesday 😁 Ps not sure if the photos will come out 😬
  5. For the first time in my fishing life it took me all of about 5 minutes to remove the line on my 8 reels that I now have. I decided to buy a “Berkley line remover” today and “I wish I have done it sooner. 😀 If you don’t have one I recommend you get one or something similar. By the way I’m not sure this belongs in the “Bait Monkey” post or not.
  6. May the bass gods be with you
  7. I will keep you in my prayers
  8. I always give them all to room they need
  9. So my wife and I went to BPS to buy a new rod that they didn’t have which is no big deal, I’ll just order online. But I also wanted to checkout the Plano edge series tackle boxes but the price was more then I wanted to spend. I saw the Plano guide water proof boxes which I ended up buying which was much cheaper. Question is, is the edge series worth the money? I wanted to find something that would keep my hooks from rusting. Anyway any input is appreciated
  10. Just wishing all a Happy Thanksgiving
  11. I know what I am going to get, but it comes with or without side imaging. I think I know the answer to this, but I still have to ask. Do I need side imaging for my bow fishfinder? I do not a fishfinders with all the bells and whistles so to speak. Anyway, all input is appreciated thank you.
  12. I personally like 7 footers or longer. I’m 6”2’ but I do not think it matters how tall you are. Its whatever your preferences is.
  13. @MN Fisher thanks for the advice very much appreciated
  14. @MN Fisher@12poundbass, I just started and saw the Garmin STRIKER which I think is all I need. But I also think I need some good advice from experience boaters that would know more than me.
  15. I would say around $500ish give or take. I’m not looking for anything like live scope. I have a Garmin 9 inch on the console and and an older bow unit that is a 4 inch Lawrance. @MN Fisher just the basics really
  16. Looking for a budget friendly depth finder for the bow of my 2017 Bass Tracker Pro 175txw . Any suggestions would be great, thanks
  17. I have posted before on what rod to get for a jig rod. I know I want it to be 7’6”I think, but do I want a medium heavy or heavy? That is the question. It could also be used for glide baits. I will say that being 6’2”and just over 300lbs I’ve always have used 7’ for all my fishing needs. Anyway thanks for the input.
  18. So it seems the cause of my flat tires the other week on my trailer was from tire rot. Hard to believe trailer tires are so expensive. So if one tire has rot the other tire will be going flat soon. It is what it is
  19. I really appreciate all the responses to my question. I have always thought that a 7’6” heavy rod is what I needed for using a jig. I now have something to think about now that is for sure.
  20. Now that my jig rod is broken and out of service. I was wondering what is the perfect length for a jig rod? I know that everyone has their own preference. Mine was a 7’6” heavy, all opinions are welcome.
  21. Now that I need to replace the two rods that broke this summer I was wondering if anyone has used the Lew’s TP1X Speed Stick HM40 Casting Rods. I’m a Lews guy so I was just wondering if anyone likes this rod? Thanks for your input
  22. @WRB yes I learned a valuable lesson the hard way
  23. On my last fishing misadventure in which my wife’s friend broke my jig rod (the one that had the eyelet problem), the back of the boat filling up with water (yes the drain plug was in) it’s amazing how the big waves can almost sink an aluminum boat just sitting on the beach. Good thing boats have a bilge pump and of course a lot of praying to Jesus for it not sinking. Oh and my phone getting wet in a plastic bag that wasn’t sealed all the way as well as my wallet and whatever I had in the bag. If that wasn’t bad enough, as I was pulling into the neighborhood about to back my boat into my driveway. I noticed a flat tire starting on the trailer. And the hits just kept coming. Now to my question, does it matter where I put the jack to raise the trailer to change the tire? Thanks for your input. One more thing, yes it was a big learning experience and I hope not to make the same mistakes again.
  24. I love my Lews, I started in the $100 to $150 range and don’t have a problem with them.
  25. Update, I appreciate all the input on the eyelet. I ended up taking the eyelet off for I ran out of time. Anyway I’m not going to worry about the rod, it broke on the trip. That’s two rods broken the last two fishing trips.
