  1. Took the week off with the youngen since he was out of school and went off to our favorite lake yesterday fish were in about 2 ft of water , way up in the salad . We managed to pull a dozen or so out . I got one bigger than this and i keep gettin a file error when i view the disc . this fish is over 19 inches .I ain't too good at guessing weight so i wont try .
  2. Man i thought that was a Mississippi thang with the salt .. My high bloodpressure insists on having salt with my beer .
  3. they work , try em
  4. Yes ... weight on bottom and make a loop up the line a few inches long to tie the hook to . like a dropshot rig . In swift or hangy spots i tie the weight with light line so it will breakoff in case of hangups .
  5. I fish a lot of vegetation that a troll motor wont touch . I use a dried bamboo pole about 2 1/4 inches in diameter .. works perfect .
  6. for sure not my ex wife ... too many teeth ;D
  7. I use cut shad and live bluegill , perch , mudcat ( bullhead i think ) goldfish if i can get them
  8. ROLO , I had it wrong . Arkabuttla produced the state record black crappie . Enid does hold the state record white crappie . here is a link to the Mississippi fisheries website . http://www.mdwfp.com/Level2/Fisheries/pdf/recordFish.pdf If this is the same fish that is the world record , what does the Mississippi river have to do with it ? I wonder how accurate some of these old records are ?
  9. the one about the dynamite is enforced severely in my neck of the woods , and it works to .
  10. RW , that works for me .Grenada is half way between us, and the spawn is not too far off . Week days are best , weekends are always crowded in spring . It would be a good chance to pick your brain about the smallmouth fishing on Pickwik .
  11. RW , a 3 pounder in 15 feet of water hooked up to 12 ft graphite pole and 4 pound line would probably make you pee your panties . LOL
  12. Like RW said the Mississippi record is over 5 pounds and a 12 incher down here is just a nice crappie . In a place like Minnesota a 12 incher is probably a bigun . We have a 12 minimum on Grenada Lake . I feel for sure the next world record will come from one of the North Mississippi flood control reservoirs Sardis , Arkabuttla , Enid or Grenada The Mississippi record over 5 pounds came from Arkabuttla in 1957 i think .
  13. I got some neighbours that do it cause they can't catch them on hooks like i do .
  14. I've eatten them on the grill , they ain't too bad . Have heard of people boiling them till the meat starts coming off the bones , pick out the meat and scrambling them with eggs like salmon out of a can . Served with hot biscutts and molases it can't be too bad ..
  15. The ZOOM HORNEY TOAD hooks work ok , i personally like Ultra Point EWG in 5/0 . I don't remember what size the ZOOM TOAD hooks are but they are big . maybe 6/0
  16. 2006 was great for quanty of fish and average size is up from previous years . Fuel prices forced me to do more crappie and bluegill fishing closer to home , and one of my home bass lakes was drained to control vegetation . It was the year of the frog for me , the topwater bite down here was unbelieveable . Added ZOOM ULTRA VIBE SPEED WORMS to the tackle bag late in the year . awsome lure !! LOOKING FOR A GOOD YEAR FOR 2007 !! GOOD LUCK IN 2007 EVERYONE ...
  17. I'm right handed but flip with my left , but i can't get as must distance pitching with my left so i pitch right handed . It may pay off for the pros to not pitch with the hand they reel with but at my level of fishing i don't see much advantage .
  18. The BUCKEYES came in on a soft schedule that didn't prepare them to face the SEC champs . To go undefeated , win the Heiseman , and lose the BCS title game by 27 points has got to be the one of the lowest moments of a persons life . I am an SEC fan but i feel really bad for that fellow .
  19. In that pic it was white trash with MONKEY !!
  20. try bumping a jig around some deep cover , or vertical jiging a spoon
  21. crank baits .. rattletrap , big-o Jigs.. almost always 3/4 ounce black and blue footballhead Most of the water i fish is extremely shallow .
  22. They are edible , pretty good if you eat it straight out of the pan .You know how liver is really good when it's hot then when it cools off taste awfull . That's the way eel is .
  23. STREN ORIGINAL I use braid on my flippin stick and mono on everything else . Been around the world trying every different brand of mono out there and spent a bunch of dollars . Made it back to Stren Original and i'm staying . Just darn good mono .
  24. I would never do that . I purchased a dozen hooks with what was called a low profile barb once ( in a pinch all i could get at the time ) wound up throwing the whole dozen away . My young son fishes with me every week and sooner or latter he's gonna get hooked like we all have or will . It's just one of the things that happen , but i would hate to have him losing fish over a barbless hook .
  25. VOTE VOTE VOTE !!! I know what yall are saying but this is the way i look at it . I don't like politics either so i pick out the ones i dislike the most and vote against them . Makes me feel better for some reason .
