  1. Driving through Delaware (no sales tax) on Saturday within a few miles of Cabelas, I'll be stopping.
  2. They're just fine, unfortunately the fishing wasn't great, 3 dinks. But, it beat doing most anything else. I checked their site for a rod I'm interested in, but unfortunately they don't have it.
  3. Thanks very much Bob for taking the time to test and reply. I'm going to try and get a look at the above mentioned Phenix as well as the Fenwick. Going To Gettysburg Pa for a few days, Cabela's, Bass and Gander Mt. nearby so I should come away with something. Thanks again, I appreciate it.
  4. Thanks Bob. Also, I now see Fenwick has the HMG 70UL/M for $99 which I'll take a look at. I'm a fan of both St. Croix and Fenwick
  5. Bob, are you throwing 1/16 oz and possibly lighter with some distance? I have a St. Croix Premier 7' Ultra light / fast, I'm wondering if the Panfish performs differently, if the action is perhaps more of a moderate fast.
  6. Thanks guys! I see that Tackle Direct which is nearby carries Phenix so I'll take a look. Not an easy rod, meaning that length/Power and action combo, to locate. For me anyway
  7. Looking for a 7' ultra light or light in moderate or moderate fast action spinning rod, which I'm having difficulty locating at the $100.00 or thereabouts price point. Throwing very light jigs a distance, for panfish.
  8. A member here clued me in to a few clearance rods at the St Croix website, $89 there and free shipping, same rod at other sites $150, plus shipping, plus extra shipping for bulk item..................Yes it pays to shop around before pulling the trigger.
  9. There are three Walmarts within 30 miles, the nearest being the best, but that is not to say it's great. Two Dicks within twenty miles, in different directions, they're like two totally different businesses, with one head and shoulders better than the other, the fishing department in one probably double in size than the other. BPS, 30 miles away in Atlantic City, not bad, not great, better than the Walmarts, but not better than the second Dick's which I mentioned. This past Monday I drove 55 miles to Cabela's in Delaware, fantastic. I could have spent hours in there, they've mostly been my go to Online store and other than buying just odds and ends nearby, they're now my brick and mortar place, despite the distance. Cabela's #1
  10. It's the price of doing business. For panfish I use Sufix Hi-vis yellow in 4 lb., easy to see those light hits. A trick you might try, if you're in a boat and can position over top of your snagged lure, clip on one of those sinkers with the clip on eye and let it drop straight down the line. Sometimes that will knock loose your lure.
  11. Just bought the 71MH/F...............Thanks again.
  12. The Supreme and Supreme XT are in fact "smoother', and a step up in components, but you still can't go wrong with the President. I've owned and have owned several Presidents and President XT's and now this one on the way. As a matter of fact I just purchased two President 20s (see the Manventure thread). Yesterday I was at cabela's and fondled, yes fondled the Patriarch..........nice!
  13. Thanks, just pulled the trigger on a 30.
  14. I'd check further into that, I'm at 08210 and my reels were $9, granted a rod is going to cost more, but not that much.
  15. Perfectly happy, hit a nearby pond, just for panfish. The President, of which I've owned several (my son now has 3 of them) has always performed flawlessly, not a Supreme or Supreme XT, but a well made reel, particularly at that price point, I now own 9 Pfluegers, mostly Supremes, happy with all. I see the President Limited Edition.....pondering it. Also, yesterday I was at Cabela's fondling a Patriarch baitcaster.................nice.
  16. Anyone have one, thoughts? Much difference from a standard President? Does it approach a Supreme?
  17. I use a Powell Max 703 -- 7' Med/Ex Fast
  18. I fished Black Fury for years, throughout the northeast and Canada catching a LOT of bass. I haven't really used them in a few years, but still have a number of them. Use a steady retrieve to keep the blade turning, and a good snap swivel. Look at it moving through the water when it's near you to get an idea of retrieve speed. No secrets, but the black with yellow dots outfished all the others for me.
  19. They arrived today, four days from order date. New in sealed boxes, $37.48 each plus $9.99 shipping, $84.95 total. They're going fishing in the a.m.
  20. Four days ago I ordered two Pflueger President 6920 spinning reels, $39 each. Received an immediate confirmation and tracking number, shipped through UPS, supposed to arive today. Total for both with shipping $84.95. I'll let you know, but seems fine.
  21. Thanks guys. I fish Pflueger Supreme and Supreme XTs on Powell and Mojo Bass sticks almost always spooled with 8 lb. Trilene XT, but it's a different animal up here. Most of my "serious" bass fishing is in upstate NY with smallies 2 to 6 lbs. As I said, hoping to move down in the spring and looking for info. Thanks again
  22. I have a St. Croix Mojo 6'8" Medium power/Fast action for that application. which I like quite a bit.
