  1. So with all of that being said. I have had three or four sources suggest Maxxis now. I suppose I will taking a look into those. I appreciate all the feedback!
  2. Hey guys/gals, So I am about to do my annual maintenance on the Mercury 200. I want to go ahead and get new tires while I am spending the money. This will be my first time buying tires on a tandem trailer for this Nitro Z8. Any suggestions on which tires to go with? Any advice would be appreciated.
  3. Attn admins: I just realized I posted this in the wrong place. My apologies.
  4. Hey guys/gals, So, Christmas is coming up and I am thinking about buying a new rod for cranking. My question is regarding the use of micro guides. Is there any sort of application where you find that they do not work very well? I have two Kistler rods with micro guides right now and I have grown to really appreciate the sensitivity of them. Is there any lure or rod/tip combo that anyone has experienced issues with micro guides? While we are on topic, what is your favorite rod to use for crankbaits? Thank you in advance for your insight!
  5. Generally speaking, the manufacturer should be responsible for parts and labor under a warranty type scenario.
  6. Hey guys/gals, My Nitro barely fits in my garage and it's a pain to get it in at that perfect angle. I did a little research and came across this little gem called a Trailer Valet. I haven't seen too many reviews outside of their website and I wanted to see if any of you have experience using one. Before I spend $350, I want to make sure it's worth it. Are there any other brands that are worth shopping against it?
  7. Yeah, I am stumped on this one.
  8. Well, I found the replacement parts through Minn Kota's website. Surprisingly, they are reasonably priced. I still have no idea what caused it or if it's a common thing but at least the replacement parts are on their way!
  9. I wanted to see if anyone else hit the waters here in Texas yesterday. We went out to Choke Canyon yesterday and had a high of about 85. I didn't have any luck on anything I threw. I threw nearly every color senko, fluke, jig, spinner, buzz, frog, crank, jerk.... the works. I couldn't get anything to play. Just wanted to see if anyone else hit the waters down here with the beautiful weather we had.
  10. We took the Z8 out today and after about an hour of fishing, I lifted the Minn Kota, strapped everything down, and moved spots. After we got to the second spot, I dropped the Minn Kota down to find that the pedal had no resistance. I look down, and the top housing is cracked all the way through. I have no idea what I did to break it. Anyone have a guess or ever experienced this? Thanks for any help you can provide!
  11. Thank you preach. Yeah, I am prior military so cleaning my weapons after every use is hard wired into me. Is the burr thing pretty common? This is my first non Mossberg shotgun and I've never had an issue before this.
  12. I was on my third dove hunt of this season yesterday and my Nova starting wedging shells against the side of the barrel in the chamber. I started single loading to see if maybe it was double feeding but it didn't help. It seemed to get worse as the day went on. I still limited out but it was very frustrating to say the least. Anyone else ever heard of this happening? I am thinking I might need to have a gun smith polish the inside of the barrel where it was catching.
  13. Haha, I think that does sum it up. I was stationed in Mannheim, Germany and truly discovered cold winters. However, I still end up with long johns and a double layered coat when it drops below 80....
  14. You all are great! I'll be showing this to my wife so she doesn't try to have me committed when I start loading the boat this winter. Haha I like this. I'll certainly keep that in mind! Great points! I will be applying all of the above!
  15. I thought it was funny, haha Thanks for the input you guys. That will keep me from feeling stupid when I am the only one on the lake!
  16. I am in South Texas so first off, our winters aren't brutally long or cold like some. The humidity cuts straight to the bone but overall, it isn't that bad. However, growing up, we never really went fishing during the winter and now that I have a nice boat, I'd like to maximize the opportunities. So the question at hand is if it's even worth the gas, time, lures, and lack of sleep to hit the water during the winter? So many people talk about storing their boats for the winter that I have a tear roll down my face when I think about not using my boat for an entire season. What are your experiences or preferences when it comes to winter?
  17. I know this has probably been talked about more than most want to admit, but I had a question that I want to see if any of you have experienced. As superstitious as I am, I am extremely attentive to every minor detail on my trips. A few weeks ago, the family and I went out to a local reservoir and I tried scents for the first time. I couldn't get a single bite after application and I really spun myself out thinking it was the scents. I tried a craw spray and another red gel type that I can't recall the brand of at the moment. Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar? Maybe I am over thinking the scent but I really feel it had an adverse effect. There are so many factors involved with catching fish that I think it is hard to blame one variable but I'd like some reassurance from you all that it isn't the scent....
  18. I found this to be a great article on this subject. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Winter_boat.html
  19. I found a "semi-custom" fit one on Amazon for a little over $300. They have pretty good reviews on some of their other covers for waverunners, cars, erc... I called to ensure fit for the dual console and motor. I'll let you all know how it does when it arrives.
  20. Thank you for the input Way2slow. I'll take a look at them.
  21. Hey guys/gals, I just picked up my 2012 Nitro Z8 yesterday and we have it stored for the time being until I can downsize on space in the garage. I have a 2015 Stingray taking up the garage at the moment. I want to order a cover for it but I am having trouble justifying $750+ for a cover that will be on it for 2 months max. Are there other options for quality boat covers for a dual console Z8 with a Merc 200 without spending so much? Thanks in advance!
  22. Hey guys/gals! I am new to the forum but not to the articles from Bass Resource. We are currently located in Corpus Christi, TX for work but originally from Fort Worth. My wife and 9 year old son are my fishing buddies. We just upgraded from our 14 ft john boat to a Nitro Z8. I am looking forward to seeing what I can learn and contribute to the forum!
