  1. Thanks everybody. I am ordering a 6" bull shad slow sink in dirty bone.
  2. What weight do you think it handles the best?
  3. One lake is mainly shad and the other has a ton of talapia.
  4. I dont really know much about these 3. I have thrown the 7.8 Keitechs and the shellcracker G2 a little, but want to grab one of these now. Which one should be my first? Throwing it on an IROD Genesis II Swimbait Jr Rod rated 1-4oz with a Tatula HD reel. I fish from a kayak and beat banks and fish up in canals. I figure it needs to be a slow sinking one to get fewer snags.
  5. I throw them on the owner finesse ball head jig as my "weedless" ned rig. I like them so much I make my own for me and my son. He can always catch a few with that setup.
  6. What weight head needs to be used to give it good action? I thought in the past strike king said 1/4 oz on their rage tail products but that is heavier than I am looking to use.
  7. 1/0. Just reel into a hook set.
  8. I was just not sure how the new ones compared to the originals. For example I know Dobyns would need a mag heavy to equal a regular heavy in most other brands.
  9. I am looking to buy my son in law his first bait casting setup. I started using my original Daiwa Tautla 721HFB rated 3/8-1 1/2 oz 12-25 lb line to throw 4.8 Keitechs on a flashy swimmer and it has worked great. He caught 3 on this setup today and wants one of his own. Since you can't get these rods any more what would be compatible to this in the $100-125 range?
  10. Look into open pour molds. Tell your friends to save their used up plastics for you. Melt them down and make baits. Edited to say this is the dumbed down version of this. Lots of safety equipment needed to.
  11. Dang, that's not what I wanted to hear.
  12. Anybody have a comparison between the OG tatulas and the Aird X rods? I normally aim for the $100-150 price range but I used my original heavy fast Tatula rod to throw 4.8 keitechs with a flashy swimmer and it worked perfect. I felt like the heavy gave me a better hookup over my medium heavy since when I set the hook my kayak moves toward the fish.
  13. I bet that would be a good choice. I use and like my Tatula 7'2" MHR. That is a medium heavy regular (or reaction) rod made by Daiwa which is considered by most a moderate fast. I like a 6.? ratio reel b/c i naturally reel faster and it just helps me slow it down. It works for the way I like to fish them. I have never really tried to burn them, but if I wanted to I might move up to a 7.
  14. First of 2020. My goal this year will be to fish more. It needs to warm up though.
  15. Anybody tried these?
  16. I dont feel like i have the knowledge or time on the water to answer most question, but wacky rigged senkos are the exception. I have yet to lose a fish once hooked with this hook and 99 % of the time if I feel the slightest bite they are hooked. No need for a hook set. When you feel the nibble just reel. Thats it. I went over a year only fishing a wacky rigged senko before i decided i need to learn other techniques.
  17. That 10 lb yozuri is like 16 lb. It should be fine. Thats what I have on my small swimbait rod.
  18. I bought 3 exo pt reels when cabelas had them marked down from $299 to $99. They were always and quickly became my favorite reels. I talked to several people that cleans reels and they all said the same thing. They said they were junk bc the insides were all plastic. I still loved them. After fishing them for about 3 years i had a problem with one. Quantum said to mail it in and they would get a new Smoke sent out to me at no charge. Cant beat that. When it was time to buy a new reel i went with the Tatula 100 to try it out. My tatula is out to Daiwa to get fixed after i cought my first fish on it. I really think i am going back to more Smokes when i buy my next reels.
  19. If you get the 5/0 or bigger get some large centering pin springs. It will make your soft plastics last way longer.
  20. I am wanting a dedicated shellcracker g2 rod and was really curious about how the fate compared to the falcon.
  21. I will be in touch after January then. What upgrades do you recommend for the Tatula 100?
  22. Figured i would just get it upgraded at the same time.
  23. After my 1st hookset with my new Daiwa Tatula 100 it sounds like crap. Anybody work on reels and if so is it worth upgrading anything (bearings, drag, etc) while somebody has it?
  24. Any better deals out there right now for a 9 year olds Christmas? He has been using my wacky rig setup and im not sure he is ready for a casting setup yet. Not wanting to miss a good deal. Is this my best sale option or did i miss one?
