  1. I've had a real tough summer, this is my 3rd summer fishing 2nd actively and it's been a heart breaking summer.. nothing has been working from swim/ Flippin jigs/ poppers/ walking baits/ spinners/ never caught anything on a T-rig.. just can't seem to catch anything over the dink 5-7" range.. just keeping them wet and hoping for the best.. Good luck to you my friend
  2. Thanks everyone for the ideas.. I got a booyah spinner white and it got me a pile of dinks (numbers day not quality fish day) on Saturday and 2 which were just over 2lbs I was very pleased.. I also got a craw fish crank which didn't bring in anything as of yet.. I got a booyah crashin/poppin frog which I ended up losing I'm not sure exactly what happened there was a big explosion and when I went to set it there was no resistance, I'm assuming my knot came undone but that has never happened to me before I use the palomer knot on everything as its the one I have the most practice with. So a new frog was lost but at least not in a tree. . I had luck with a jig head and grub also.. I was throwing a double tail white and a single tail black and white and also a bright yellow.. the double tail got me a lot of dinks then I ran out, I got a few on the black and white not too too many but hammered it home on the bright yellow caught about 30 more dinks on that.. Thanks again everyone for the tips and ideas
  3. I only have 1 rod at this time it's a medium action spinning set up.. I like the grubs with a jig head for the river never have had much with TW on a river.. outside grubs I haven't had much luck with anything else river fishing.. I only assumed river fishing with bank fishing but when I go ponds or lakes and bank fish I bring a couple TW for early morning and late evening worms and grubs along with a crank or 2 if you know the water is a bit deeper
  4. After some horrible outings sharing tackle with a visitor I have now lost a bunch of tackle I need (want) to replace... I now have a couple "tree frogs" ugh missing jig heads and trailers aND a shallow diving crank MIA.. but hey everyone loses tackle in trees right, at least that's what I'm telling myself now.. of course I had to raz my buddy but anyways it brings me to the question what tackle should I buy.. what are some of your go to tackle? Do you have a link or pic of it? I have been fishing rivers a lot as of late but do some lake fishing also but mostly water with current. Thanks everyone I hope this can be of some help to some other novice anglers also
  5. Always nice to have a fishing buddy... unfortunately I don't lI've anywhere near you sorry but I too wouldn't mind more fishing buddies, I live in Brantford Ontario
  6. Can anyone explain how Google Earth or navionics work, I have downloaded Google earth and created an account with navionics but I don't see much difference between Google Earth and Google Map, as far as Navionics goes, I can't seem to find anything. There is a lake in Guelph Ontario, Guelph lake but it doesn't appear on navionics. I'm looking for Mohawk lake in Brantford Ontario but nothing is labelled. From what I understood you could check within the water using Google Earth but I have no idea how to do that. I am looking to find out where there may be ridges or weed lines etc. I have an inflatable dingy as a boat and have to row myself around, I want to limit the amount of rowing I have to do and increase the amount of time my line is in the water. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  7. it is a great stress relief from the busy days of work. that and who can ignore the adrenalin rush of catching a biggun
  8. I've never had any luck with any kind of buzzbait but I still throw it in hopes to land one eventually.. I have 2 walking frogs work very nice sorry I never remember brands and I have 3 poppers all have multiple fish days under their belt.. I can't get enough of the top water blowup. . I remember not catching anything with my first walking frog until one day a guy that was fishing near me asked if I ever caught anything on it I said no and he said do you ever try walking it (lol I had no idea it was a walking bait I just bought it because I liked the way it looked and knew I had luck with frogs all frogs are the same right lmao) he them explained to me how to use it and was impressed when I started to figure out the technique which got me fish on Ive seen him around again from time to time and he asks every once in a while if I know how my lures are suppos to be used lol
  9. Rain... what rain? Here in souther Ontario I would say we have been lucky to have had 5 rainy days all summer... all the ponds I fish the banks have grown about 4' out from where they normally are.. I can't move our to get closer to the water because it's all quick sinking muck.. heck one of the more shallow ponds now have bottom sticking out the top of water.. making it hard to fish anything but the rivers.. I am no expert at all but I would have to agree with you constant rain should be the normal weather pattern and you should be catching.. have you tried different depths like scaleface mentioned? Sorry I'm of no help
  10. Hello all, my question may not be as straight forward as I hope but will give it a shot to see what all your thoughts are.. I want to get a rod and reel set that will cover 2 styles, frog fishing & jig foshing. Can 1 rod and reel be used for both? Currently I'm using a medium action, I looked at the rod and the it didn't say what the power was pic from what was attached to the rod at purchase :/ I use this rod for everything from frog fishing to walking baits to jigs well.. everything...
  11. Thanks everyone.. a lot of great content on YouTube but time on the water is the best I agree... just never hurts to see how the "pros" do it
  12. Huh? Their CS is very friendly and best part you can ask the most redicoulious questions and not worry about the reaction because they can't see you or know who you are For reference I didn't see clearance rods at their location in vaughan
  13. I've been looking to get either the LTB or MTB bUT after reading the tips to use the different lures most of what I seen required a 7'+ casting rod.. will my 6'6 spinning rod be able to work the baits the same or at least productively? I'm heading to basspro today and thinking of getting a bait caster setup although I have never used one.. I got a standard as a first car never havING driven one before so I could figure this out right? I'm so confused with all the options out there..
  14. Chills!!!! That is the look of my PB catch.. it was a cast up under a tree I didn't like the cast and was about to burn it back when I seen a giant wake behind my frog... then BAM I was so excited I was buzzing for about an hour.. frog fishing is my favourite fishing
  15. Is there a topic about river fishing? I need some serious lessons.. I was our with waders for the first time yesterday and came to some calm deep pockets.. pockets were about 3-4 feet, over hanging trees mixed with downed trees TONS of bait fish and crayfish.. different areas were off a point and I got nothing.. I tried a grub on a jig head, T-rigged weedless worms, shallow crayfish cranks spinner spinner with a double tail Mr. Twister didn't even get a bite.. I walked up to some of the spots where I thought for sure a fish would be after about 10-20 min of picking it apart and seen nothing move out.. I would have seen something had it been there as I was walking up stream and ahead of me was very shallow water I'm sure I would have see a fish dart past me or go into the shallows It's been a long dry stretch for me seems like all I'm catching is skunk, not pigs.. he'll I'd even take some of the tiny guys at this point..
