  1. Solid rods and nothing wrong with them. However if you want to experience what G Loomis is really all about I would say that you should try the IMX and up rods if possible.
  2. One example would be when the lake temperatures start to cool down in the fall. Many shad start to migrate to the mouth of creeks and then a little latter into the backs of creeks. The water at this time is a little warmer in the creeks and support the plankton better so the shad migrate to where the food is available and the water is a little warmer, they don't do well in very cold water. In the summer shad live a pelagic life many times in the upper water column but they still have to feed on plankton, plankton cant fight current and are often blown to one side of a cove or lake if the wind stays predominate. Check the windblown sides for shad. I am sure there are a lot of other examples these are a couple I can think of off the top of my head. hope it helps.
  3. Just like you are searching for the bass by finding their food source, understand the food source of the shad you are hunting for and you will find them.
  4. Powder colored W.P 130 for the largest and various soft plastics on a drop shot for numbers. Try the Reins bubbling shaker, you wont be sorry.
  5. Abrasion resistant, yes, abrasion proof, no.
  6. I don't know what class it falls into but I am moving all my spinning equipment from PPS8 to Gliss. Gliss in 24lb test has no memory fishes a lot like braid but comes off the spool and through the guides very quiet with great casting distance and is incredibly thin. Depending on what I am using the rod for I may use a FC leader or on some things I just tie direct. Gliss with a leader on spinning equipment works very well.
  7. No problem, for the record I like the 105
  8. Thread about Evergreen Shower Blows discussed a little while back. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/179645-evergreen-shower-blows-size/#comment-2024024
  9. Slick Gone Wild, maybe you know my cousin Shooter McGavin.....
  10. I use to try and find ways to avoid using spinning equipment, as I had it in my mind that I just didn't enjoy it. Once I used a very balanced, sensitive spinning rod and reel I have enjoyed them to no end. I would say they play a bigger part in my fishing now than the casting reels.
  11. The Roboworm Rebarb hooks have a bait keeper on them. I would rig the bait the same as above but with one exception. After running the hook through the nose, remove the hook, then insert the hook through the hole you made from the bottom of the bait. This keeps you from pulling the keeper through the bait and making the hole any bigger than necessary. Always rig the baits as straight and flat as possible, helps prevent line twist.
  12. Somewhere the Bait Monkey smiles......
  13. The Roboworm Rebarb's are are the cat's meow.
  14. Lots of great advice already, I would just add to be sure to use a sweeping hookset and not a typical reel down and jerk their lips off type set. You don't want to create any bigger hole in their lip than necessary.
  15. Like deakn said, they are both productive lures that perform well in different ways. I tend to use the SP 100 and SP 100DD more than I do the Megabass 110.
  16. Don't have a lot of experience with braid on casting reels, just a frog rod and a couple of odd and ends type stuff. I have used Vicious, PP, 832, and FX2, of those that I have experience with I preferred the FX2
  17. Are you wanting to know for a spinning reel or a casting reel?
  18. Just like Scott said the reel is over filled, just take some of that line that is jumping off and remove it. It wont take long to figure out about how much you actually need.
  19. Choose a color that provides a good contrast to the water you fish in. Keep things in mind like amount of light available, bottom composition and color of water. After that a lot of it just becomes personal favorites for the body of water you are fishing based on experience. When all else fails throw watermelon or green pumpkin with a couple strands of chartruese, LOL just a personal favorite.
  20. I appreciate the help, going to take advantage of some Holiday sales and pick a couple of baits up.
  21. Buy 1 NRX now and save a little longer and buy another when you have the money. I know if I would have taken this route it would have saved me money in the long run.
  22. I know that Duo has about 3 different baits, they have the 80 the 90 and the 80 G fix. Do you have one you prefer?
  23. The Spybait technique is one that I have been interested in for a while and have watched a few videos, but would like to ask members here what their experience has been with these baits. What type of baits seeem to work the best, LC, DUO, Jackall or something else. Are you fishing it on spinning equipment or casting, I would like to hear about the setup you use and why you chose it for the technique. Line choice, whatever you would like to share. I hope to be able to make some informed purchases and could use some advice.
  24. NRX 853C JWR is a very versatile rod, can be used for many techniques. I feel it performs best at a total weight of about 1/2 oz. 3/8oz jigs and trailer. I used it at Amistad in deep water with a 1/2oz jig and trailer and just could not get the kind of hooksets that I would of liked. The rod has just about unmatched sensitivity which makes it very good for contact baits, it is not a tip heavy rod at all IMO and the recoil guides help with both. I had the GLX 854 and did not find it special, broke it after a few outings and upgraded to another NRX. It had good sensitivity but not special, I like the the older 844 MBR slightly better. Either will make a good carolina rig or larger jig rod, just pick one that suits you.
  25. Braided line? Is is backed with something?
