  1. Cool, I figure most guys that visit this site fall into the same category. I have been on the same water fishing the same fish at the same time you have many times, and truly believe what you say, as I have observed it myself. You seem like a good person, it was just an observation, not a personal attack.
  2. Thanks for your opinion. I guess the way I was looking at it this. There are a lot of younger people that visit this site, and probably even watch some of your videos. When you openly promote the mistreatment of wildlife, that is a decision that you make, but please think about the effect it may have on someone else. Maybe they just start throwing all fish against a wall, or practicing poor release techniques. Guess I just have a difference in opinion that you. Oh, and I am not defending a drum in particular, I am supporting the proper handling of all wildlife. So you probably don't eat bass either. So here is something to think about a minute. A drum is a very strong fish, and will fight harder pound for pound than most any large mouth bass. If we are not eating either one, and just fishing for the enjoyment of the fight, what makes one fish superior to the other. I mean it's kind of like how do you decide which butterflies to pull the wings off of.
  3. Yeah....... That's exactly what I was saying.
  4. Just a serious question, have you ever tried eating them? I have not eaten freshwater drum, but from what I have read and seen it looks like very nice meat.
  5. I don't know if comparing it to walleye is fair, but blackened redfish is pretty darn tasty.
  6. Thanks for your opinion. Here is a good article to check out. http://www.in-fisherman.com/other-fish/drum/fishing-for-freshwater-drum/
  7. If you buy a license and fish legally it is your choice to keep or release any legal fish caught. End of story.
  8. Like your video's but it's a little concerning that you don't have more respect for the fish you catch.
  9. Send them to me, I'll figure out what is wrong with them for you. LOL
  10. Not so sure this is correct. Black is the absorption of all light, but you only need reflection of light to see a color. Black is one of the highest contrast colors there are and stands out very well in all shades of water. In fact most all colors turn to a shade of gray/black after several feet in the water column.
  11. I don't know the correct name, but when I lived in S.C. we called them dogfish.
  12. Water temperature plays a large part in determining if a bait will sink, suspend or float. Colder water is denser so baits tend to float better in colder water, it also helps suspending bait suspend. When the water is warmer the water is thinner and baits to sink a little more. Baits that are designed to slow sink or suspend often have to be tuned in the conditions you are fishing at the time.
  13. I did not own one for a long time, in fact I did about everything I could to avoid having to use one. I guess my memories were of big heavy clunky catfishing gear of my youth. I finally broke down and purchased an inexpensive setup, to my surprise it was a joy to use. I have since purchased several nice spinning rods and reels and truly enjoy fishing with them. Give it a try, you never know.
  14. Sound is vibration through matter, so we are essentially saying the same thing. In water, the particles are much closer together, and they can quickly transmit vibration energy from one particle to the next. This means that the sound wavetravels over four times faster than it would in air, but it takes a lot of energy to start the vibration.May 10, 2011 The highlights were not added by me, they were part of the article.
  15. This thread would be awesome with pictures
  16. St.Croix Panfish spinning rod, Pflueger Supreme XT 25 18lb Gliss
  17. No big deal at all to me.
  18. I don't have answers but I do have some thoughts. vibrations move much faster through water than they do through air I think a guitar string produces vibration underwater, the same as a speaker or your voice. Vibration and movement are similar if not the same, vibration is an oscillating movement around a equilibrium. Water quality has a large impact on vibration (sound)
  19. Nothing wrong with having an opinion and stating it. If you were being honest, would you have known of all the other differences between the two reels and still had the same opinion?
  20. I would buy 2 400 dollar rods, if you stay in the hobby long enough that is where many of us end up anyway, so save yourself some money.
  21. Anyone should be able to put a tip on the rod for you, it does not really take any special skills. I can even do it.
  22. As mentioned, your rod and line choice may be hindering your ability to walk some baits properly, especially a frog. If you have the option try stepping up in power and use braided line.
  23. What rod and line are you using
  24. Did you replace the plastic pins for brass pins on the spool hub, replace the SiC line guide with a Ti one, swap out the drag star to a metal one, replace the smaller septon grips for larger ones and add a bearing under the drive shaft. Because those were some of the things that also made the Curado E an upgrade over the Citica E. The Curado also come in a couple of different gear ratios in the E model whereas the Citica was only available in one.
  25. Thank You, it has a nice rattle like some of the older model cranks have.
