  1. Not the Tackle Direct in Ocean City, was it?
  2. Funny because I use and like Fluoroclear but really disliked my experience with CXX... memory of an elephant.
  3. My Dick's Sporting Goods finally came through with an ok deal- same as above, 2 Megabass baits for $30. I got 3 s-cranks and a pop max.
  4. It 100% depends on whether you ever want to take someone out with you, and whether or not you can afford a dedicated fishing kayak. A little sit-in pond kayak you can buy anywhere for $300 will work as in you will be on the water but won't be a lot of fun to fish out of (unstable, very little storage room, etc.) If you go with a jon you will very likely want a trailer for it eventually, so consider that. But a jon is on the whole more stable, has more room, and you can bring more stuff with you.
  5. Never, ever, since I was 10 or so.
  6. Agreed on the one we can't mention. No experience with the Tatula but I've heard it's good.
  7. Don't fight it.
  8. Lol, nicely put. That's the obvious reason, but I'm still baffled why they would go halfway on such a hyped up bait. Guess they just didn't care.
  9. If you're interested in a T3 I have a T3 MX I'm selling...
  10. Wow, you went all the way to the top there! I have a feeling you'll like that setup! I'm going to spool up my new jig setup tonight, a St. Croix Avid X and 7.2:1 Curado, 20 lb. Tatsu. The line comes today. Can't wait to try it out.
  11. Academy has all? their hardbaits and hard swimbaits on sale for $3 a piece right now, killer deal. They are built really well and have premium VMC hooks. Just placed a massive order lol.
  12. That really is kind of irritating. It looks so great on the top. Don't know why they only went halfway.
  13. I'm not sure if it does or not. She lives on the east coast and I'm in the midwest.
  14. Just ordered 20 crankbaits from Academy... Yes, I do hope my wife doesn't see this. Lol.
  15. My grandmother has Menieres. I know what you're talking about with the nausea fits and the motion sickness like symptoms and the hearing loss. It's been very hard on her. Fortunately it isn't bilateral. You have my sympathy. Your trust is rightly placed.
  16. The only failures I've had with the FG knot are when I haven't retied for a long while. If it's important to retie lures it's probably about as important to keep the leader knot up to date as well. I like the Albright quite well too but I can do an FG a lot faster and easier.
  17. Wanting some recommendations for a decent landing net for my 12' jon boat. What do you all use?
  18. I usually watch my line, let them have it for a bit, then set the hook. I do deal with gut hooked fish on occasion but like others said that comes with the territory. Something I heard recently that I am trying is using a standard EWG hook for weightless wacky rigs; it's supposed to really cut down on gut hooked fish. Today I caught two that way and both were solidly hooked in the side of the mouth. So far it looks promising! I just use a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG. To give credit where credit is due, I learned this tip from Bass Fishing Jersey. I really like Eric and his channel.
  19. Nice job sir! Someone knows metalwork.
  20. My current setup (waiting to spool it up) is a Lucky Craft 7'6" H XF rod and a Tatula Type R 8.1:1. 65 lb. P-Line braid. As far as reels you can't go wrong with either a Tatula or Tournament MB.
  21. I was not prepared for that pic.
  22. I like mine a lot. I have it on a Powell Max 3D 7'1" ML XF rod and it pairs perfectly, not tip heavy at all. I don't think weight of a spinning reel would make much difference on the rod balance, at least not like a baitcaster, since you're holding it with the stem between your fingers- it's not out past your hand like a baitcaster.
  23. Diameter is a consideration too, that's right.
  24. Braid is so buoyant it will work against a deep crank, and when you're trying hard for more depth you need every little bit you can get...
