  1. 5 pages in 5 days...must be very cold up north! Best way to catch a big bass is to fish for big bass. Use techniques known for big bass and fish for big bass in areas known to have them. It is the weekend now so it would be best to go fishing and fish for big bass than just read about them.
  2. Been doing powerlifting and weightlifting for over 2 decades now. Also practice other sports. Never had to workout the serratus anterior muscles directly to get those muscles strong and defined. I avoid machines and instead focus on free weight exercises. Make sure to work out your rotator cuffs and stretch as well. The ab wheel is one of my favorite workouts. Brutal but very effective for functional core strength if done well. I like doing the side to side version and have done them in pushup position.

  4. That is what most climate scientist agree on. They also say that the winters will be colder in certain parts of the world. Climate change is not as simple as some people think it is.
  5. Minneapolis Saturday forecast says 39 degrees but that is still very cold weather. Besides it can drop back down to where it is now next week. You can always go ice fishing for some of those big muskies and walleye you have in your state.
  6. I am not sure if I want replicas of some of the trophy bass I have caught anymore. From what I see the taxidermist might not be able to get the exact dimensions of the bass I want replicas of and that is big no for me. Another big no is getting a replica that does not have the exact coloration of my catches. Some replicas look poorly painted but I know for a fact it cost several hundred dollars even if the paint job is off. I think I am going to stick with large prints of my trophy bass that I will hang on my wall at this moment in time.
  7. I see you are from Minnesota. Very good muskie, walleye, and smallmouth bass fishing in your state but the weather is terrible there at this moment in time. From what I read Minnesota is one of the states getting hit the hardest with life threatening cold weather. Minneapolis is -25 degrees Fahrenheit at this moment with a wind chill of -50 degrees Fahrenheit. The next 7 day forecast is not looking good either. Also read that many Mid Western states are getting record cold weather now that some meteorologist are calling ''the coldest winter in a generation''. I like fishing up north for northern species but I will not visit with the terribly cold weather you guys are having now. Looks gloomy. I like seeing trees filled with green leaves.
  8. There are some huge blue and flathead catfish in the Midwest but most Midwesterners have not caught a 88 pound fish like this lady did.
  9. Looks like you need to change the rod tip. It is very easy to do you can do it yourself.
  10. I use 30 pound test powerpro on my size 4000 spinning reels mostly for bass, snook, and other fish.
  11. Congratulations to her for catching the 88 pound blue catfish. That is a bigger fish than the biggest fish most midwestern fishermen have caught in their lifetimes.

  14. First you need to fish in a area that has lots of big bass. Second you need to study the area you are fishing. Third you need to figure out what the bass want and give it to them. Fourth you need to have lots of patience and fish enough time to increase the chances of getting bit by a big bass. Fifth but not least, you need to accept that bass fishing is a hobby that you learn for a lifetime so continue repeating steps 1-4. With that said, I have lost count of the 8 pound or better largemouth bass I have caught throughout the years and I continue to catch both quality and quantity when other bass fishermen in my area of the state are complaining that the fish are not biting for whatever reason makes them feel better. As a bass fisherman you need to learn how to adapt, how to improvise, and how to overcome. Excuses do not give positive results but putting your time on the water wisely gives positive results.
  15. Florida has plenty of bad drivers, especially during snowbird season. Seen lots of out of state license plates driving terribly such as driving 80 to +100 mph in 70 mph highways, not putting the turn signal, not letting someone in that puts their turn signal, skipping multiple lanes, tailgating cars less than 20 feet while driving +70mph, and other terrible driving. Worst drivers I have seen in Florida are from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Georgia, and California. The worst place I have ever driven in my life was in the highways of Atlanta a couple months ago. It was on a day there was a big college football game and it was raining most of the day. Saw plenty of big trucks, suvs, etc with college football flags driving terribly with complete disregard for others well being! Driving in Florida is a walk in the park compared to driving in Atlanta's highways. With that said I was able to catch a couple rare species of black bass so I achieved my fishing goal.
  16. You need to be in decent shape to practice curling, at the very least have healthy legs and decent flexibility. Same cannot be said for other so called ''sports''.
  17. I have read the weather reports the past couple days and it says many northern states are getting hit with dangerously cold weather. Some states are getting -20,-30, even -40 degree windchills along with large amounts of snow. Looks like you northern guys have a couple long, cold weeks (if not months) of weather ahead of you until you can comfortably fish in shorts.

  21. I have a +20 year old Ugly Stik rod that has caught me more 8 pound or better bass than many people have caught in their lifetime of bass fishing. I still fish with that rod every once in a while for freshwater/saltwater fishing and it goes to show you how well Ugly Stiks rods are made. Got other old Ugly Stiks that have caught me lots of fish throughout the years. I use the money I save for lures, other tackle, and gas for my trips. Berkley Lighting rods are very good rods for what they cost. Pat Cullen is one of the best trophy bass fisherman that has lived and his favorite combos where Ugly Stiks with Abu Garcia baitcasting reels which he used to catch +1,100 bass each over 10 pounds.

  23. Nice lake. I rather fish there than the other place showed in this thread.
  24. My style is to study the species of fish I am after, use the knowledge I have gained through decades of fishing experience, go fishing, and do my best to learn from each fishing trip. By doing this I have become very consistent at catching both quality and quantity of fish.
