  1. Smallmouth bass are fun to catch but I have already caught a bunch of them from both northern waters and southern waters. I rather catch varieties of redeye bass I have not caught before and other species I have not caught. I enjoy traveling in new locations and adding new species of fish to my list so it is worth the time and effort for me. With that said I will plan a fishing trip to Southern Tennessee for Coosa redeye bass.
  2. You can have an awesome road trip fishing for all the varieties of redeye bass that live close to you. Tennessee has the Coosa redeye bass, Alabama has the Warrior redeye bass, and Georgia has the most varieties of redeye bass.
  3. A good multi species fisherman is as comfortable fishing freshwater as he is comfortable fishing saltwater. Only fishing freshwater is very limited and more limited if the person only fishes for less than 100 species of fish. With that said anyone can catch +100 species of fish if they put in the time needed just like any other type of fishing. I did some more research and learned of a man that has caught 1479 species of fish as of May 2016. He might of caught more species since then so I see him as the best multi species fisherman at this point of time.
  4. Welcome to the forum
  5. Beautiful location. Reminds of a place I fished for redeye bass.
  6. Forgot to mention earlier that I have caught over 200 species of fish (freshwater and saltwater) and have them documented in pictures. It helps that I live in Florida which is a paradise for a multi species fisherman. I am a young man so I got several decades ahead to add more species of fish to my list. I know of a man who has caught over 600 species of fish so I would say he or any other person that beats him is the best multi species fisherman at this point.
  7. You can catch Seminole killifish in Central Florida and the Everglades on small pieces of worm. Have caught many of them that way. Another interesting fish is the pike killifish which looks somewhat similar but is an exotic species of fish. I catch those with small pieces of worm and small jigs.
  8. I would say the best multi species fisherman is a person who has caught the most species of fish and has them documented. Some multi species fishermen have caught +500 species of fish in their lifetime since they travel the world for fishing.
  9. The first 2 fish are warmouths and the bottom fish is a Seminole killifish.
  10. Welcome to the forum
  11. That is true. There is record breaking flooding right now in many states and it does not seem to be getting better anytime soon. Every year Northern states have to deal with +6 months of bitter cold weather, hardwater, snow, and gloomy skies. No matter where you live the weather can affect you so it is best to prepare for any nasty weather that comes.
  12. So far it has been another great year of bass fishing for me. There is 6 months left until the year ends so let's see what happens for the rest of the year.
  13. I have +$25 swimbaits and a custom topwater rod along with other expensive fishing gear. It is nice to use but I have caught most of my big bass on regular priced gear. I know many who like to flaunt expensive gear but they have not caught a fish worthy enough to justify the amount they spent, at least from what I have seen. You have to be a very good fisherman to consistently catch quality fish without the help of electronics. He is correct the bass have no idea what brand you are using or how much your tackle cost that is why it is best to develop one's bass fishing skill as much as possible and not focus on less important things.
  14. Both largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are fun to catch but I rather catch another rare species of black bass to add to my list of species of fish caught. Have caught Suwannee bass they are pound for pound one of the best fighters in the black bass family.
  15. I have an open mind when it comes to fishing so yes I have fished with hand lines. Have caught big fish on hand lines both in freshwater and saltwater.
  16. From what I have researched the ''Big One'' (An earthquake of 8.0 or greater) will happen in California sometime in the future but Seismologist cannot 100% predict when exactly it will happen. One Seismologist says there is a 1 in 20 chance (unlikely it will happen) California will have another +6.0 earthquake in the next couple days. With that said it would be best to have enough stored bottled water and food for at least 2 weeks along with camping gear. It will most likely not be needed but it is better to be safe than sorry. That I learned by living through several hurricanes that hit my area throughout the years. It is only a matter of time before another category 5 hurricane hits South Florida and you can bet I will do my best to prepare for it.
  17. Congratulations on the new species of fish.
  18. Many Scientist are saying that the San Andreas Fault region is due for a massive earthquake. Let's hope they are wrong since it will be beyond devastating to the West Coast.
  19. I prefer to fish with my better half, family, and close friends. If they are not able to join me then I prefer fishing alone.
  20. Happy 4th of July everyone.
  21. A good pair of running shoes will be very comfortable and support your feet well unlike other inferior shoes. Lots of people like crocs but I am not a fan of them especially reading about all the injuries people have sustained wearing crocs. Nike makes good basketball shoes but the running shoes need to be improved. Have owned a couple pairs of Nike running shoes so I am talking from experience that they are not worth the money and it would be better to invest in another well known brand for running shoes. The last pair of Nike running shoes I got had bad traction while in a boat or other wet surface so I would not recommend them for running or any activity where the floor might be wet. Asics used to make great long distance running shoes but the quality has gone down. I bought those shoes for over a decade and stopped buying them last year since the back of the heel will wear down too easily. They are being made in a new location that seems to have quality control issues. You can read the reviews online if you want more proof. I hope Asics fixes this issue until them I am using other pairs of running shoes for running, fishing, and other outdoor sports.
  22. Welcome to the forum @Dakkta. The fish in the picture you posted is a Bermuda chub. They are a very common species of fish in South Florida reefs.
  23. I have caught both types of largemouth bass and came to the conclusion that northern strain largemouth bass are far easier to catch than Florida strain largemouth bass. There are many well known tournament anglers that struggle in Florida tournaments yet do very well in waters with northern strain largemouth bass. That lake sounds very similar to many lakes I have fished in Florida. Lots of 8 pound or better bass live in these lakes but it is hard to get them to bite. I prefer fishing these types of waters since I have a good chance at catching another 8 pound or better bass compared to northern waters where a 5-8 pounder is a personal best for most northern largemouth bass fishermen.
  24. Congratulations to Marabu Kiruta for having the most legitimate world record largemouth bass for 10 years now. Nobody has been able to beat him and there has been many people that have tried.
  25. We are blessed to live in the Fishing Capital of the World and know very well how good the bass fishing is here. It is common for a Florida bass fisherman to have a PB bass of over 8 pounds and there are many with +10 pound PB bass. Same cannot be said for the Saint Lawrence River and other northern waters where bass do not grow as much. That list is extremely flawed and anybody with decent bass fishing knowledge knows this. Maybe next year they will say Nebraska, Indiana or some other below average bass fishing state has better bass fishing than Florida? LOL
