  1. Nice Crappie Jigs!I know a couple Crappie fishermen that have caught +10 pound bass on Crappie Jigs in the some of the spots I fish.
  2. Florida has one of the most diverse fishing grounds anywhere for both freshwater and saltwater. Our South Florida canals have fish from several continents and even saltwater fish!I caught a huge Snook this weekend by complete surprise since I was bass fishing. It was so dark it looked like a monster bass!
  3. This weekend I used some knowledge of physics and geometry to catch a big Snook out of one of my bass spots. It was so dark it looked like a bass on Steriods!
  4. I enjoyed reading post made by Sirsnookalot. He is a man that excels both in freshwater and saltwater fishing.
  5. Yes I have taught about how physics can be used to describe different aspects of fishing.
  6. I agree that Hybrid Striper fight much harder for their size, but still rather catch another 10 pound bass than a 2 pounder!
  7. My favorite fishing show when I was a child was Jimmy Houston's bass fishing. I once called his office to get a autograph from him and he sent it to me.It was very kind of him and I still have his autograph on the picture of his biggest bass.
  8. I vote for catching a big fish over tiny fish.
  9. @fisherrw, a 9 pound bass is a trophy sized fish anywhere you go and is a big accomplishment. You will eventually catch one the size you want just be persistent and determined and it will happen for sure.Find out which bodies of water around you are known for big bass and use tactics for big bass.
  10. My mentor taught me to keep an open mind when it comes to bass fishing. It wasn't hard for me to listen to him when I saw his album full of +10 pound bass, including one over 14 pounds. And he caught most of them from the bank. Thanks to him teaching me I got a +12 pounder( from the shore ,no boat or depth finder needed).I always follow what he taught me and it has served me well.
  11. I know what you mean by the Crappie fishermen catching large bass. I have a couple spots that I fish where many of the Crappie fishermen I meet have caught bass over 10 pounds with tiny jigs and minnows from the bank. They use long rods, small reels, light line and land these bass from the shore, which makes it a impressive feat.
  12. Thank you @fisherrw. I taught my little cousin many techniques to catch big bass. I have a feeling that he will catch one much bigger than the one he caught with me since he lives in Central Florida and is currently fishing a pond where people catch bass over 8 pounds often.
  13. I agree with you 100%.Most of the +10 pound bass I have caught have been on artificial lures and only one of them I caught on livebait. Big bass in highly pressured bodies of water are smart and tend to avoid most baitfish with a hook sticking out of it,at least where I fish.
  14. That is the huge difference between the minge and Musky lure!I also like variety when it comes to fishing and often target other species of fish besides bass.Have caught fish on hook and line as small as mosquito fish and sharks much bigger than myself.I truly enjoy fishing and do it as often as I can.
  15. I agree that it's hard for a bass to turn down a live crayfish. One of my favorite tactics when using crayfish is sight casting a bass with one.I use a small hook so the crayfish can swim without to much of a struggle.
  16. Wild Golden Shiners is one of the best baits to use when your targeting trophy sized bass.Crayfish are also great for big bass.
  17. For me it's more fun to catch bass on artificial lures.A well presented lure will usually outfish livebait in most situations. I do use live bait often when it's hot outside or when the conditions call for it.
  18. I have caught many solid bass on $1 spinnerbaits. They are great to use in areas your worried to lose your expensive spinnerbaits.
  19. Get a small treble hook and use small pieces of squid or pieces of fish for bait. The treble hook needs to be small enough to fit in the needlefishes mouth. When you spot a Needlefish cast the baited treble hook in front of its face and work it to entice the needlefish to bite.Give it some time to swallow the hook and when you see it deep in its mouth set the hook and reel it in so it doesn't shake the hook off.You will get lots of needlefish using this technique.
  20. Thank you.I enjoy spending time with my family and teaching my cousins how to fish.
  21. They are all good reels and will get the job done.Let him choose the one he wants.
  22. Fish, workout, spend time with my family, repeat.
  23. Welcome!
