  1. I recently caught a +9 pound,15 ounce bass and she swam away strong when I released her.Caught her at nighttime in the month of June and the water temperature was most likely over 80 degrees. Haven't had a single +8 pound bass die on me when fishing at nighttime,so it's definitely a good time to fish during the summer.
  2. Don't beat yourself up,it happens to the best of us. Go back there and show that bass who's boss.
  3. A big part of being successful at frog fishing is knowing when to set the hook and how hard you set it.Set the hook when you see the frog completely disappear underwater and do a firm hookset. Do not do a exaggerated hookset, it is not needed.
  4. Try fishing at night during this time of year.
  5. Pound for pound the weakest freshwater fish that I catch are yellow bullheads, its like reeling in a small log that tugs every once in a while.Pound for pound the strongest native freshwater fish I catch are sunshine bass, they pull drag like small saltwater fish. Most of our exotic freshwater fish are much stronger pound for pound that the native species.
  6. Confidence is by far the most important attribute anyone can have in anything they do!
  7. Kipping pullups are useful when doing crossfit workouts, but regular pullups are much better for developing upper body strength. You can use a belt with a weight attached to it if pullups become too easy(if you can easily do 4 sets of +12 strict reps). I use to do pullups with a 120 pound dumbell attached to me when I was younger, and still do workouts where I use added weights for pullups.
  8. Congratulations on catching your new PB!
  9. Bassemon. The Pokemon Go people will love it!
  10. I prefer doing regular strict pullups and don't do kipping pullups.Regular pullups are much more difficult, and are better for overall back development.Once you get more advance you can start doing muscle ups. Other good back excercises are deadlifts and bent over barbell rows with your back parallel to floor.
  11. Yeah these people need to get a life and spend a little more time outdoors and a little less time playing video games. It's much more fun catching real animals than catching them in some little video game.
  12. Congratulations on catching your first bowfin, they are very fun to catch and are much stronger than a bass of equal size. The ones down here bite well on spinnerbaits and jigs.
  13. I got a spot where there are huge bass, and these huge bass bite best in specific conditions.Took me a good while to figure this place out,and logging the specific data has helped me immensely in that spot.Time on the water will always be more valuable than watching some video or reading something online.
  14. Most types of hunting are boring to watch, but there are certain types of hunting that are entertaining.
  15. ^This! Anyone can catch a decent bass on a boat with decent gear, let's see some of these "pros" fish from land on public waters and see how well they actually do.
  16. One of my LiveTarget frogs has caught over 100 bass and it still functions well. Don't do exaggerated hooksets, be careful when removing the frog from the bass mouth, store it well, and it should last you a good amount of time.
  17. I had a similar event happen to me a couple months ago,but I was fishing from land.I had a boat with 3 men fish less than 50 feet from me,even though I was at that spot first. They saw me catch several decent bass, yet not 1 of those 3 men could catch a bass that day. They must of been so angry seeing me outfishing them, but that's what they get for being rude.
  18. Yes I write down my catches ,especially ones where I catch large numbers of fish or exceptionally large fish.I can look back at my fishing logs and see patterns that show during certain weather conditions in specific spots.
  19. Lots of good choices mentioned. You can get 2 decent frogin setups for under $350 as well.
  20. Fishing from the shore is significantly more difficult than fishing from a boat, so 2-4 fish in less than 3 hours time is good. There are bass fishermen on boats that cannot keep up with that rate, so whatever your doing keep doing it! With that said, your catch rate per hour will increase as your bass fishing experience increases. There is nothing that can replace time spent on the water. Some lures that may help you catch more numbers of bass per hour are the following; senkos, flukes, speed worms, jerkbaits, and topwaters.
  21. Yes,weighing bass on a scale is quite the humbling experience. Same thing happened to me when I started bass fishing long time ago.The long, skinny bass are the hardest ones to get a accurate estimate on,that's why it's best to always carry a accurate scale!
  22. When it comes to bass fishing nothing compares to landing a huge bucketmouth bass!
  23. I wonder how many people that claim to have caught 8-10 pounders have actually held a bass this size in their hands.Fish of this size are usually 24-28" long and look more like a freshwater version of a grouper than a typical bass. Lol
