  1. Yes it's hard to let go a trophy bass but it's worth it.These bass have the right genetics to create more bass that can potentially become trophy bass.Besides a cell phone can take excellent pictures,a tape measure can measure length and girth,a scale can weigh a bass, and a extremely realistic replica of the bass can be made.
  2. The general area he lives in is known for trophy bass so he might eventually catch a bigger bass.He is very fortunate to have had the opportunity to catch that 16.75 pound bass and he is a true sportsman for releasing her.
  3. Don't know the length of this 16.75 pound bass but it's certified by State Biologist so that's good enough for me to consider it a extremely impressive catch from land.
  4. Yes plenty of pictures and he's officially in the TrophyCatch Hall of Fame Club.It makes me happy seeing a young man catching a bass that big from land in Florida and hope the state record gets broken either by him or a young man/woman who just fishes for fun.
  5. Congratulations to Dominic Montalto for catching a 16 pound,12 ounce bass while fishing from the shore in Florida. His bass is one of the biggest bass caught in recent history and was close to breaking the official state record. He released his bass so she still has potential to grow even bigger than the current state record.
  6. We also have the Zika virus in certain parts of South Florida.I wont let that stop me from fishing though! I agree it's best to leave the armadillos alone. American crocodiles are absolutely beautiful animals and they get quite large in certain parts of South Florida.I have seen several over 12 feet in length, they look like dinosaurs when they are this big.Haven't been to Costa Rica but would definitely like to visit, its a beautiful country with amazing fishing.
  7. Bass tend to be close to their prey so it would be best to find out where the baitfish are holding since bass should be close by. Under a bridge is a location where baitfish might congregate, there should be bass around/under this bridge that are hunting the baitfish.
  8. Find the baitfish and the bass will be close.
  9. Yes many armadillos in Florida have Leprosy and there have been a couple cases where people contracted Leprosy from armadillos.Plenty of articles online on this subject, let me know if you want me to post an article about armadillos with Leprosy in Florida.
  10. Saw the video of what happened to the passenger that didn't want to give up his seat that he paid for...very unprofessional airline company to say the least. Well said
  11. This weekend me and a couple other people where fishing a dock in a public park when several boaters came less than 20 feet away to fish the dock. These boaters have the whole place to fish yet they decide they must come fish one of the few places people fish from land in the park, which proves to me these boaters where very desperate to catch a bass.None of these boaters caught a bass while I was there but I did catch some quality bass. Sadly people rarely follow this golden rule,I see boaters fish right next to public piers, docks, bridges, etc where land based fishermen where fishing before the boats came. Well said
  12. Awesome videos, those guys are very talented in mountain biking.I do some mountain biking myself, its a good form of cardiovascular exercise that is extremely fun to do.
  13. Wish there was more enforcement in the places I fish, especially in the Everglades.I often see people with buckets full of small bass and there seems to be very few officers working this part of the State. As for having my license checked,it happens often when I am saltwater fishing but I haven't had my freshwater license checked in at least 2 years.
  14. This is a real picture but the guy who took the picture used camera tricks to make the alligator look larger than it is(similar to how people long arm a bass to make it appear much larger than it really is). There's tons of armadillos in one of my hunting spots in South Florida and they are very easy to catch if you wanted to catch them.I leave them alone since they don't look very appetizing and armadillos are known carriers of the bacteria that causes Leprosy.
  15. Nice bass.Yes I have jumped in for a bass several times before.
  16. There was a bunch of wild fires today by US27. It was open this afternoon.
  17. Love seeing alligators when I am fishing since I know they are a sign of a healthy ecosystem.Have seen both alligators and crocodiles while fishing , the crocodiles seem to keep their distance from fishermen more than the alligators.
  18. Interesting article, but when it's all said and done Mr. George Perry still holds the official world record for Largmouth Bass for over 80 years now.I would love seeing the record broken by someone who just fishes bass for fun, maybe a young man/woman who doesn't compete in bass fishing tournaments.
  19. I use a backpack with 1 to 3 plano boxes and use my old tackle boxes for storage.
  20. The "bent rod pattern" is very prevalent in South Florida, especially when saltwater fishing.Another pattern I see is a bunch of boats driving fast to group of boats because they assume that people must be catching fish since there are so many people fishing that spot. The funny thing is that many times nobody in those boat clusters is catching anything of decent size while a experienced boater will avoid that boat cluster and go to spot far away where he knows he will catch quality fish.
  21. Topwaters such as Rebel Pop-R's are good lures to build bass fishing confidence with,at least it was for me when I started bass fishing. You can see every little movement the topwater makes and the bass give instant feedback when you presented the topwater well. Most of the time the bass hook themselves when they hit these type of lures, so you don't have to worry about the hookset compared to a hollow body frog,or any other lure that you have to pay alot of attention to when to set the hook.
  22. I often go out my way to teach people how to fish and often stop fishing to make sure they learned well what I taught them.2 weeks ago a young man came up to me when I was fishing and asked me if I can teach him how to catch bass since he's never caught one before and by the time I was done teaching him he caught his first bass. This was in a public park that gets hit hard,so I felt very good being able to teach him how to catch bass in that park.I also pointed out a couple good spots in the park and taught him the benefits of catch and release bass fishing.
  23. ^this^ My favorite bass combo is under $100 and I do quite well catching big bass in highly pressured bodies of water. There are times I fish with a ice rod for a extra challenge(and for some light tackle fun),so there ain't nobody who will convince me I "need" a +$300 combo to catch a bass.
  24. Got a couple Jitterbugs myself. They are excellent lures to use at night.
