  1. I will stop fishing and teach my friend what to do in order for him to start catching fish.
  2. Sorry to hear the fishing was brutal on a boat in Loxahatchee. The fishing has been on fire for bullseye snakehead, peacock bass, and other exotics, so you can always give those fish a try. Do not be surprised if you catch a big bass when fishing for exotics, these fish coexist well together.
  3. Make sure to use a leader when fishing for longnose gar. These fish can easily get over 50 inches and +20 pounds with a full mouth of sharp teeth. I use a 2-3 foot leader of 30 pound test big game mono. They like jerkbaits, crankbaits, topwaters, spinnerbaits, flukes, etc.
  4. We have the same problem in South Florida since many people don't consider a gar a ''sport fish'' even though the longnose gar can easily weigh +20 pounds and outfight any largemouth bass. Yes the gars love the x-raps down here.Other good lures to catch gars are topwaters, other types of jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, flukes, hollow belly frogs, etc. The longnose gar get much bigger than the Florida gar and you can target this fish in northern Broward/West Palm Beach area.
  5. Welcome to the forum. That little jig looks like it would catch some nice fish.
  6. That gar looks like a longnose gar, have caught plenty of them up to +50 inches on artificial lures.
  7. Theres plenty of ponds under 1 acre that have + 5 pound bass in them.Keep the bass feed, check the water quality often, add some structure for the fish, and watch your bass grow to hawgs.
  8. Thats a tiger muskie for sure and one of the most beautiful ones I have seen.Looking towards to seeing you catch more nice tiger muskie!
  9. Caught a couple big snakeheads and big peacock bass this past weekend, way more fun than catching largemouth bass.
  10. Thats strange how gar are difficult to hook on artificial in certain parts of the country yet easy in South Florida.
  11. Congratulations on catching a nice tiger muskie.
  12. Congratulations on catching a chunky bass.
  13. I fish the same places at night that I fish during the day.
  14. Caught my first largemouth bass over 2 decades ago and my grandfather was the one who taught me the fundamentals of bass fishing.
  15. Dead sticking soft plastics is a very effective technique that has been around for decades and this technique works well in highly pressured areas.
  16. Have caught hundreds of quality sized bass with the following setup; 6-7 foot heavy action rod 30 pound test braid Live Target hollow belly frog,Booyah pad crasher frog, etc
  17. Have done these challenges, they are fun. Here's a couple fun challenges I have done while bass fishing; Catch a 24 inch,+7 pound bass on 2 foot ice rod Catch 3 bass at the same time on a jerk bait Catch a bass on a bare hook Catch a bass on a breadball Catch a bass on a hotdog Catch a bass on a piece of gum Catch a bass on a gummy worm Catch a bass under 3 inches Catch a bass on a handline Catch a bass on a long stick you find and tie enough line where you can flip it a couple feet from the shore
  18. Caught a extremely thick 40'' inch carp this past weekend with regular sandwich bread. Corn is another good bait for carp as well.
  19. Try to learn from every fishing trip you have and you will gain knowledge. Fish with people who are very experienced in bass fishing, it will shorten your learning curve. Be willing to travel to new locations so you don't get too comfortable in a spot you are good at already.
  20. Seen this meme before, its one of my favorites.
