  2. As many cast as I need to throw depending on the conditions. Sometimes I only cast 1-2 times in 1 spot and move on, other times I cast for several hours if I feel I have a good chance at catching a big one.
  3. Yes Sir he's the best of the best when it comes to country music. Second for me would be Garth Brooks and third Shania Twain.
  4. Last month I learned how to effectively wade fish for spotted seatrout from land in South Florida. They like jigs just like snook and bass do, so they are fun to catch.

  6. Almost every canal and lake system in the Miami area is loaded with peacock bass so you should have a good time if you fish there. The Blue Lagoon area can be fished from land and many people catch +5 pounders from land there. Hiring a guide is not needed for peacock bass, they are everywhere and are easy to catch, just like most smallmouth and largemouth bass. The exceptions is catching a trophy peacock bass (+5 pounds is what I consider a trophy peacock bass in South Florida, and anything over 18 inches is a big one) or fishing for peacock bass when the water temperatures drop to the low 60's, and even then you still can catch a big peacock bass when its cold (have done it several times). As for prop baits, they are good lures for peacock bass when they are actively feeding or getting a reaction bite of them when the conditions are right. I like using the heddon tiny torpedo for peacock bass when they are chasing baitfish near the surface and I use 8 pound test mono for it. As for color, anything will work as long as you present the lure well. Make sure to have a good, smooth drag system in your reel since peacock bass are much stronger pound for pound than a largemouth or smallmouth bass of equal size. Even a river smallmouth bass of equal size cannot compare pound for pound to a healthy peacock bass.
  7. We got a little cold front this weekend in South Florida. Temperatures dropped to low 50's at one point and its high 60's at this moment. The cold has not affected the bass much where I was fishing and I caught several bass this past weekend.

  12. Make sure to bring a couple bucktail jigs for striped bass from the shore.
  13. The biggest fish in the picture is a freshwater drum.
  14. Welcome to the forum @Quinner006. There are places you can catch peacock bass in SouthWest Florida but you will do better the more east you travel into South Florida. There is a good population of peacock bass on Tamiami trail and I have caught plenty of them there. That is a relatively short drive that can easily be one in 1 day from Fort Myers and you have a excellent chance of catching your first peacock bass there. There are also other exotic fish( mayan cichild, Oscar, spotted tilapia, etc) in that canal system so you should have a good time catching new species of fish.Good lures to use for peacock bass are poppers, spooks, propbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, etc. Let me know if you need more help, I got +20 years experience catching peacock bass in South Florida and I catch trophy peacock bass every single year.

  17. We had a couple days of high 80's-low 90's down here as well in February.
  18. I have been to Mexico several times, the weather is nice but not as nice as South Florida. We also got more fishing variety to choose from in South Florida and I can always visit the northern states if I feel like fishing for muskie, smallmouth bass, etc.
  19. Thank you. I have been fishing for well over 20 years now and have been very fortunate. We all have to start out somewhere and fishing is a hobby that every fisherman or fisherwoman learns for a lifetime. Make sure to have fun when you fish, be safe, and follow the fishing rules of your state.
  20. I fish with lipless crank baits often and they are a very good lure for bass and many other species of fish. My favorite brand of lipless crank bait is the Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap and I have them in several sizes. Get the right size for the conditions you are fishing and try different retrieves until you find the one that works best for you.

  23. $119 seems to be a excessive amount to ask to ship a fishing rod in the United States. I bought a rod from Australia and the shipping cost me less than $30 to ship the rod from Australia to South Florida.
  24. Nice bass.Yes it is possible to get a good replica of your personal best bass with the pictures you provided and weight. Was this bass caught in public or private water?
  25. There is a public body of water in South Florida where I caught 149 bass in 1 day from land. This was in less than 6 hours of fishing and I am confident I would of caught more if I would of been there earlier instead of later in the day. I go to this location when the conditions are right since I know the bass fishing will be amazing when it comes to numbers of bass. This is a place where most people do not fish from land since its a very long walk in a area with lots of alligators around. Most people will not walk for hours while shore fishing to get the results I got that day but sometimes you have to think differently than most fishermen to get different results.
