  1. I use spinning for +90 percent of my bass fishing, with the exception of some big swimbaits which I use a baitcaster. In saltwater I mostly use spinning as well with the exception of my big shark and wreck fishing reels which are Penn Senators and other saltwater baitcasting reels.

  4. If its very hot I won't be fishing during the day and instead I will be fishing at night or doing another hobby such as diving which is far more fun than bass fishing.
  5. Yes you can use freshwater hooks in saltwater. Rinse them off with freshwater when you are done and let the hooks dry out. Throw away the hooks if they get too rusted and buy new trebles. Also make sure to not have your drag too tight since saltwater fish are much more powerful than bass.
  6. Don't post many reports but here's one from yesterday;Caught a canal slam of largemouth bass, peacock bass, oscars, mayan cichilds, and bluegills for a quick fishing trip.Temperature was +90 degrees with low wind. Water level is up but the bass are still biting good everywhere I have fished in South Florida.

  8. Here's a article about this situation; http://www.magnoliareporter.com/news_and_business/north_louisiana/article_b09dceba-6da3-11e8-9e5c-6fce4454338c.html
  9. Choose whatever color you feel most confident with. For line I like to use 8-12 pound test mono when I using the Heddon Torpedos. I prefer using the baby torpedo over the tiny torpedo.
  10. Peacock bass like propbaits as well as poppers, jerkbaits, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, jigs, etc.Snakeheads will hit the same lures a bass will hit but I have done best with hollow belly frogs and soft plastic frogs.
  11. It's always nice when you finally figure out what the bass want in a area you are fishing in. Makes fishing much more enjoyable!
  12. Maybe. He could also have low testosterone which makes some old men very grumpy. Regardless what he has he doesn't have a free pass to throw gasoline on people who are legally fishing a dock.
  13. Pouring gasoline on somebody while they are legally fishing is unforgivable at any age! This man needs to go to jail for a very long time since he could of killed these fishermen.
  14. Good report thank you for posting it. Suwannee bass fight harder for their size than a regular bass and they are one my favorite freshwater fish to catch.
  15. I will spend more money on gear for big game fishing in the ocean and nowhere near as much for bass, which almost any rod and reel can handle.

  18. Its a blue gourami or a type of gourami for sure. Not all blue gourami look the same just like not all bass have the exact color pattern. Might be a fish that someone released into the river and maybe there's a small population of these fish in your area. Might be a good idea to tell your State DNR about this catch. South Florida has a very healthy population of exotic fish from Asia (bullseye snakehead, clown knifefish, etc) and South Florida is +10,000 miles away from most of Asia.
  19. Looks like a blue gourami.
  20. Yes I eat the lionfish that I catch while doing freedive spearfishing. They are one of my favorite fish to eat and taste better than grouper to give you a idea how delicious these fish are. You can eat lionfish fillets in some restaurants and even buy the fillets in some locations if you want. Definitely a fish worth eating if you never had it before. Here's 2 articles you can read more about lionfish being sold for food and how good they taste; http://money.cnn.com/2016/05/27/news/companies/whole-foods-lionfish-invasive-species/index.html https://lionfish.co/what-does-lionfish-taste-like/
  21. I am more of a multi species fisherman than a bass fisherman so I tend to fish for exotic fish often, which is easy to do in South Florida since we have so many species of exotic fish. Some of my favorite freshwater exotic fish to catch in South Florida are the following; peacock bass, jaguar guapote, clown knifefish, bullseye snakehead, midas cichlids, and grass carps. My favorite exotic saltwater fish that I catch in South Florida is the lionfish, which is very fun to spear and is very delicious!
