  1. I have done well with the following freshwater lures in saltwater; Poppers spooks frogs swimbaits crankbaits Rat-L-Traps jerkbaits spinnerbaits flukes bucktail jigs
  2. I plan on traveling to catch the following fish; arapaima, payara, goliath tigerfish, barramundi, and other species. For me it's important to catch these fish in the wild and I don't see much of a challenge to catch a exotic species in a private pay lake or private body of water. I will not waste my time with pet barramundi that live in some Florida pay lakes or pet exotic fish that live in some private lakes of South Florida.

  4. Well said. I think most decent bass fishermen find what works for them and stick to it with the exception of a couple new techniques they try out to see if they can add it to the list. These new techniques might not work all the time but they do work in very specific situations so it's worth learning new techniques no matter how good you think you are.
  5. Don't forget a yo yo reel. Very simple to use and provides a challenge that most people are not used to. I caught a fat 24 inch, +7 pound bass a couple months ago on a yo yo reel as bycatch while fishing for channel catfish. Guess somebody forget to tell this bass that my yo yo reel was not a +$500 combo and that I was not fishing with a lure that some professional bass fisherman says is the best?

  7. Congratulations on your new personal best largemouth bass.
  8. Spring time is a great time for someone to catch +100 bass in a day when the water level is low. I also caught more or less the same amount of sunfish, Oscar, bowfin, and gar the day I caught 149 bass so there was a good chance I caught over 300 fish in less than 6 hours of fishing that day. Did not count those extra fish and only wrote down the bass on a piece of paper. Bass still bite very good during the summer time, you just have to find where they are hiding in and fish at night on very hot days.I don't blame the northerners and westerners for visiting South Florida since we have the best overall fishing opportunities in the USA.

  10. Fish at night
  11. Any decent basser has the ability to catch quality bass on a consistent basis either on a boat or land. Having a boat is no guarantee of success and I know several boaters with PB's under 10 and non boaters with PB's over 10.
  12. Not often since carp rarely strike a senko. Most people fish with bread balls, corn, or ficus berries when they are targeting carp.
  13. I read about those 2 bass and others over 10 pounds caught in some of the small waters in northeast Florida. Seems like a great place to catch a 10 pound bass and its no surprise why so many people from northeast Florida have +10 pound bass PB's.

  15. Bass fishing can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be and its up to the fisherman/fisherwoman to decide how much to invest in bass fishing. You can catch big bass on a yo yo reel, cane pole, or on a expensive combo if you want. You can catch big bass on live bait you catch yourself or catch bass on expensive hand made lures. You can catch big bass from land in public waters or catch big bass on a boat in private waters. Maybe this is why bass fishing is so popular in the USA and even other countries since there are so many ways to catch a bass that you can spend your whole life bass fishing and never be able to fish with every technique or fish every location that bass live in.
  16. It's so hot right now in South Florida that I am barely seeing anyone on the water and I don't blame them. It's +90 degrees and +80% humidity on most days for the past couple weeks and that intense sunlight is not good for anyone's skin.Good thing I enjoy diving and night fishing!
  17. I have caught some big snook, redfish, tarpon, jack crevalle, other types of saltwater fish on "freshwater tackle". Make sure to rinse off the tackle after the fishing trip and do further maintenance if needed.
  18. I have a spot that's loaded with huge longnose gar that rarely bite and might consider using this technique. I usually use poppers, jerkbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, and other bass lures to catch gar.
  19. Some good lures to use in rivers at night time are paddletail swimbaits, spinnerbaits, poppers, and buzzbaits.
  20. Make sure the bass are well fed and there's not too many bass in the pond.
  21. Nice carp, did you catch it bowfishing? Always wanted to try bowfishing since it similar to spearfishing which is my favorite form of fishing.
  22. Looks like a largemouth bass and not a spotted bass but it might be hybrid. Next time check for a tooth patch on the tongue. Contact your states fisheries biologist and they will be able to help you more.
  23. I agree with you that this grass carp appears to be well over 50 pounds just like his scale said. Last year I caught a big grass carp that was over 40 inches and it looks small compared to one the OP posted. This is a internet forum and internet fishermen seem to give low estimates on fish weight (even if someone post a picture of a fish that has already been weighed).
  24. Nice grass carp.
