  1. I recently had luck with buzzbait, casting as parrellel to shore as possible and bringing in slow. Fish were shallow not eating but angered a 5lb'er enough to strike.
  2. Last week I was in small sporting goods store that only sells guns and fishing gear/bait, it has been around forever, in dusty corner I found two small bottles of Uncle Josh's Pork trailer in green and blue. Haven't used yet but hope to get good results.
  3. We have a scale that measure to tenth of ounce and also grams - Pelouze Digital Postal scale. Works great.
  4. I really REALLY like the 110 SP Magnum, Pop-X, X-Pod, Pop Max and Giant Dog. I only have 6 or 7 but I have lots of confidence in them, the top waters are killers.
  5. Very nice and congrats, I also caught my first 5lb'er of the year this week on buzzbait at dusk, 70* with 52* water, this was prefrontal and tail end of warm spell.
  6. Very nice looking especially with the blue, I just started throwing finesse jigs and should learn to make my own to cut costs but too busy right now. Lets us know how they work out.
  7. Sounds like a man with a plan...best of luck to you. Get your priorities straight and the fish will be waiting......
  8. How did you do?
  9. My absolute favorite crankbait of all time - love 'em in size 100 and 200.
  10. 5" Senko #194 Green Pumpkin.
  11. Good luck out there, prior to this warm spell it has been freezin but I was catchin a few on ned rigs and jigging blades in the deeper water.
  12. Ned 1/15 smallest to 1/5 finesse jig 7/64 (3g) Shaky 1/8 or 1/5 Grub - don't use em
  13. Water was 52 but pretty stained, visibility inches. Most of my catches are close to bank under trees/shrubs, fishing parallel to bank causes a lot of tree snags but worth it. I do use whopper ploppers, sammies and wake crankbaits, topwater by bank is my most productive. This is my first buzzbait catch and a 20" LM in this pond is very rare, usually their in the mid-teens at best.
  14. Last night went to local pond around dusk, we've had a warm spell here and conditions seemed perfect for a top water, Sure enough caught a little over 20"'er, fat 5+lb'er on 1/2 oz buzzbait with black skirt and red blade. Had no luck with same colors but only 3/8 oz, tried trailers but nothing. Pond has been very difficult to fish last 30-45 days, noone catching any bass. She was caught about 1' off bank just 2' feet from my left where I was standing, but I was back a few feet on bank, she hammered it also.
  15. I'd give them away before I accepted a silly lowball offer, just on principal. But I do agree with Ajay, buyer determines price but seller can hold on until they find a buyer that values it higher. This will last until sellers time preference intersects highest offer no matter how low it is. I have received lowball offers in past and shrug it off.
  16. Unfreakin' believable......
  17. I actually fish in a ton of vegetation, my main lake is lowland resevoir, shallow and choked with hydrilla. The benefit of the Hobie fins over typical prop style is you can flutter the fins when real shallow or to get thru weeds easier. When vegetation real thick I will push pedal forward and hook in place without needing to remove drive (other systems you will need to remove system I believe), this pins the fins against the hull, then I'll use oars hobie comes with or push off bottom with them. Not sure if I am describing clearly, but with Hobie it is easier to adjust to thicker vegetation, however Hobie will have hard time in super thick stuff. With the Hobie its buy once cry once.....expensive but you get a lot for the money. Bye the way I highly recommend the River Stick...works great and almost no parts to fail.
  18. I had same decision last summer and chose the PA12 because I wanted very firm platform to stand and fish but I am much older and probably more discretionary income for toys. If you go into bigger rivers the PA14 will be more stable but PA12 is crazy stable. I will say the power pole complete is over $1000, I bought a Bernies river stick for $250 complete and love it, its similiar to power pole but mechanical, like a rolex. That $750 savings buys a lot of goodies.
  19. I know you said baitcaster but personally I would stick with ML/fast action spinning rod, and if in tight bank areas or you're skipping keep rod short, I have 6'3" and 6'10". I use my ML 6'10" rod for your uses and have 6lb mono on size 2500 reel and only target bass. MY ML's go from 1/16 - 1/2 so you will be covered with ML. Can't help on brand but best of luck.
  20. Welcome.....
  21. I couldn't imagine....prayers to all.....
  22. No idea about Avid but I am 5'6" and fish from bank and kayak, my jerbait rod is 6'3" and I love the length, rarely do I hit the water when snapping down but I mostly snap sideways. I however like a med-mod power which I think pins fish better.
  23. Neat, I love fly fishing. A big reason I took up bass fishing seriously is because getting to mountains is so time consuming from Richmond. Around Richmond we are blessed with many species of fish and great places to fish and for years I never took advantage of it. While Peaks of Otter is a alittle over 2 hrs away, I literally have several nice ponds and a resevoir minutes from my house, plus I can fish the James before and after work and have done it during lunch. Now with kayak instead of watching people striper fish around the 95 bridge from my high rise office I can be out there with kayak......can't wait for shad to run:) Add the smallies on the James I can target with 8wt and I am in hog heaven.
  24. With a ned rig you really need to watch line because you rarely feel bite, its amazing but if you haven't experienced it, it is crazy. I was in pond earlier in week, never felt a bite at all, but bow in line started to slighty move into wind. I am not a patient finesse guy but under recent conditions the ned is the only thing getting bites.
  25. Did not know this, are you sure? This will be easiest way to get to deepest water which is by water plant. I spent about 4 hours on Swift Creek this morning mapping the bottom with sonar now that weeds are dead. It is shallow and flat. Didn't see any fish on sonar but did mark spots that looked good for future.
