  1. Bill, problem number one is opening door to begin with. I'd stop going down that path......and go back to other things.
  2. I have had some luck with the ideas people here have given so Finessee fishing from shore will work for me in my fishing spots. Now that I know it works for me I dedecided against the Orochi XX Stinger and instead purchased a Orochi F3-610X4S Aarons Martin Ltd, Tackle trap had it for 20% off. The 610-X4S gives me more flexibility to cover wider range of finessee techniques with bait sizes from 1/16 to 1/2 oz. also it is a med-light/medium with mod. Fast action as oppossed to Stinger Extra fast. I also found small river by me with harder bottoms so shakey-heads will really work. Still deciding on reel.
  3. Good point about price points. Liquer is much like wine and cigars, once you find what you like and know how to look for it, you don't need to spend alot, you can, but you don't need to. My favorite cigar is local house blend Robusto for $4.97, absolutely love it.
  4. WHAT! Your joking right, I thought they couldn't print it if it wasn't true. At least we still have the Enquirer.
  5. Man, thats horrible. Its tough enough losing one parent, but both so close together is aweful.
  6. Can scoth drinker join, Talisker 10 year old my favorite, Dalwennie close second.
  7. Welcome from central VA.
  8. Jeff gives very very good advise, practice with what you will be carrying. Even if you practice with cheaper ammo keep proficient with the higher end self defense rounds. If you didn't shoot it, don't carry it.
  9. Have you tried one yet? If you can rent one try that first, I think they are pretty snappy being so lightweight. Although I don't own one, I have heard very good reports on them and weight is big plus. I am a semi-auto fan and if your open look at the Browning 1911-.380 Blackout. Although a .380 it has a long barrel for excellent velocity and paired up with Pow'R Ball ammo it is extremely lethal. Here is a quick review I did on it early in the year: https://www.1911addicts.com/threads/browning-1911-380.21792/ My only negative on revolvers is width, but they can conceal easily. Bottom line is the best self-defense weapon is the one you will carry and feel comfortable with. Doesn't help if it's at home or under car seat. Lets us know what you pick.
  10. That's a dangerous response. Each one offers something specific I am looking for in a single craft, like rods maybe "just one" isn't the answer:)
  11. Com' on man.....Ruffles, they have ridges!
  12. I used a hound dog type retriever successfully first time today, got a spinner stunk on underwater tree, retrieve got it right off.
  13. Actually are high on my list, i hope to get to your Farmville store before than as I am seriously looking a kayak, caonoe, or small fishing raft. Can't make up mind.
  14. I have a megabass popper in tree right now with attached line tied to discreet location in bush while I figure out how to get lure down.
  15. Your right, seminars and speakers look great, there quite a few I will check out. Oneof my goals will be to check out custom rods, there will be several builders there so I'll check each out.
  16. After an all-night crappie fishing session we went back to ramp and when we got there around dawn we saw a real nice bassboat half on a dock and half in water next to boat ramp.
  17. Awesome, great league leadership. I hope your sons team exceeds their goal.
  18. I just got back myself, tonight was at pond 45 minutes, caught one on suspending jerkbait but lost it bringing it on shore. Before work this morning caught 13" on fat Ika in different pond. Because of muddy water I just bought a Midnight Special spinner from Strike King today, if they can't see them they might be able to hear them.
  19. Ditto. At my parents place if we want to catch a quick fish we just skip under pontoon.
  20. I have three Curado's and love them, needed new reel and instead of getting another Curato for $179, I paid $239 for Lew's Team Lite Speed Spool. The Lews is quite a bit lighter but truth-be-told I am not sure it's worth the extra. Next reel I will stick with Curato's.
  21. Very nice fish, I'd call that a good day. I fish the ponds in the area and they have been very very slow this week. Went for an hour just before dusk tonight, fish hitting surface all over but I couldn't get a nibble. Go figure.
  22. Orvis carries the Sato kit which is where I bought mine. It's definitely a small creek rod but perfectly suited for it. I keep mine in my car and it fits nicely in my carry-on bag for travel.
  23. Very cool, thanks for posting,
  24. For small creeks especially in tight areas I bought a Tenkara japanese style fly rod. It doesn't have reel and telescopes from 10.8 to 11.5. Really a very cool setup. I have the Sato set up. I have caught bass on it as well. Tenkarausa.com
  25. Thank all, I do have a line conditioner and will use that as well as stretching suggestions.
