  1. Personally I always match them, but I'm not sure how much the fish really care.
  2. What's everyone's opinion on these? The paint jobs look pretty good, wondering how the action/durability is on them.
  3. Anyone else have absolutely no luck with these? I always hear how great they are but I'm not sure I could buy a bite if I have one of these tied on. I've tried them t-rigged, c-rigged, weightless buzzing them on the surface, jig trailers, etc. Only fish I've caught with one came on a drop shot (also happens to be my only drop shot fish ever.)
  4. Depends on the situation, if the water is cooling I tend to throw a rattle-trap. When the water warms I throw a red eye shad. My mental justification is that the rattle-trap's tighter wobble appeals to fish in cooling water. At the end of the day though, I feel the system works because I convinced myself it's the proper lure to throw at that time so I don't put it down, and less because that's how the fish feel.
  5. 7/16 oz with craw trailers, 3/8 for paddle tail trailers. Typically fish them in eel grass in under 5 fow.
  6. 1. Finding the fish 2. Finding the fish
  7. Junebug/black and blue worms and a black and blue/green pumpkin swim jig are about all you need. Watermelon flukes and purple trick worms work great for numbers, especially in late December around here, but they typically won't have the same size as a jig fish.
  8. In clear water do most of y'all still flip with braid or do you use fluorocarbon instead?
  9. I'm shocked at how little confidence a lot of y'all have. If you fished against him 1000 times on a random body of water neither of you have been on, he'd probably win a good chunk of time, but there are so many factors outside his control that you would win from time to time.
  10. I've seen friends catch them with senkos covered in scent, but I've never had any luck trying it.
  11. Same, only way I've ever caught anything with a pit boss was playing around with it on a dropshot.
  12. What's the lowest clarity water you'll fish hard jerkbaits?
  13. I feel like Florida alligators are over-hyped outside of the state. I can count the number I've seen living in ponds on one hand, and none were bigger than 4 feet. Just about every gator I've seen while fishing has come from rivers with some size to them like the St. John's, and non-private lakes. The real issue when shore fishing is snakes, as someone else already mentioned, or gators at really popular swimming holes that don't get spooked anymore.
  14. I'd agree with this, for whatever reason you just dial in to how the fish want a certain lure over a period of time.
  15. Not sure where to put this, but does anyone have any tricks to prevent your sunglasses from fogging up while wearing a buff?
  16. Do you ever have a lure that you do great on one year, then never catch anything with them again? For me soft plastic swimbaits were on fire 2 to 3 years ago but I haven't caught a fish with them since despite trying them often.
  17. First top water fish I ever caught was actually a bluegill on a popper. I saw 3 or 4 bass just hanging out so i casted past them, and the bluegill hit right after the bait moved past them.
  18. Never tried it with a senko, but deadsticking a fluke while being pushed around by the wind over a grass flat definitely works. I wouldn't say full speed trolling a senko would sound to me as being very effective, but I see no resaon why a slow troll of around 1 or 2 mph, similar to how fast the wind would push you, wouldn't work.
  19. 1 pack of junebug worms, 1 pack of watermelon worms, 1 pack of flukes, 1 chrome and blue rattle trap. $14 and all you'll ever need.
  20. I saw the wrench thread, pretty interesting stuff.
  21. What is the craziest technique/bait you've seen someone catch fish with?
  22. Thanks for the replies. Let's see that fish Roadwarrior!
  23. Anyone fish with these crankbaits?
  24. I actually went fishing with a couple of friends once and one guy had a Strike King toad T-rigged with a 1/2 ounce weight. We all joked with him for a while until he got 5 over 2 pounds in an hour with it.
  25. Good stuff, I'll go ahead and have to grab a pack. Other than Texas rigging, I had figured rage rigging it around laydowns and buzzing it on top through grass like a pit boss could be productive so I'm glad to see that's worked for yall.
