  1. I really like mine.
  2. They do make nice keychains
  3. I still have Mud Bugs and 1 minus in my rotation. I also have a habit of buying them way too often. And I don't know anyone else who throws them. I also love Heddon Baby Torpedos. Smallmouth love them too.
  4. Same here. Sadly nobody in the New England region serves decent tea.
  5. I don't think there's been a bad suggestion yet (maybe mine is!) I'll say what I generally do-go used. Green Curado CU 200s are great reels for less than 75 dollars-I've seen them for 50-that even a 14 year old can't kill.
  6. Finally figured out how to make skirted grubs. I knocked out about 30 of these today, which was mostly using a hot knife to melt the skirt and twin tail together. The best part is, this is all remelt, so I'm playing with house money.
  7. I understand completely. I'm 45 and have a lifetime's worth of baits already. And I'm just getting started. I'm hoping to make rods next and then paint cranks. I have a pile of discontinued baits that I love in colors I do not. I'll be asking experts like you for help!
  8. Looks like you are well on your way! Nice work.
  9. Thank you-i have a pile of TD (S,X,Z) here and I could never find a place to start. All of the customization is mind boggling.
  10. Some of my favorites right there, you're going to love them. Before I spent a penny on new bearings, I'd do an acetone flush of the factory ones. Often the stock bearings on higher end reels are worth keeping.
  11. 5/8 oz swim jig. Testing out my new fluid bed today.
  12. We have those and blues where I grew up in southeastern Ohio. They do love jigs, that's for sure.
  13. Pickerel and Pike are to blame. I did have to eat a channel cat in Ohio to get one back.
  14. Shhhhhh, I only have 20 or so left!!
  15. Ramps where I live are so gradual that I have to get wet to load and unload my boat. Ice out is particularly fun.
  16. It slays em here in NH and Maine too. I'm making hula grubs in it later this week, I'll post some up.
  17. I carry a Gerber folding razor knife. It doubles as my money clip and I swap blades whenever I feel the need. It's very thin which is important to me as it lives in my pocket all day. I think I gave ten bucks for it at Tractor Supply.
  18. I have noticed that Trilene XL has changed. It doesn't seem to be as supple as it once was. I scored a few spools at WM on clearance a couple of years back and it just wasn't the same. I'm still working my way through bulk spools of Silver Thread, when they are gone I'll be switching brands too.
  19. I'm 45 and I don't either! But I'm about to look it up...
  20. I have a few old Speed Sticks that I use for throwing squarebills and rattle traps from the bank on my way home from work. Now you've made me want to grab some of my old Tru turn hooks and some Jelly worms. Oh, and a reel without instant anti reverse!
  21. Hula Grub on a swim jig Texas rigged hard head tube 7.5" ribbon tail worm TRD Ned The ned is the only plastic I buy, the rest I make. I pour all of my own baits except the TRD, and will continue to buy them.
  22. Here's my tube cutter. I cut threads in a hockey puck, and put in a bolt. For the bottom, it's a bunch of razor blades that have holes in them, a bolt, and washers for spacers. All glued to a piece of aluminum scrap.
  23. Tom, this is kind of on topic-those TD-X Daiwas you sold me are still going strong. I have an affinity for Daiwas from about 1998-2010 or so. I think I'm up to around 15 of them. Like a few of you mentioned, I actually DID lose most of my equipment in a garage fire. So I had to start over. I bought a couple of Silver Max reels and decided that my $50 was better spent on used high end gear.
  24. I made a contraption using a can crusher and razor blades. I'm working the bugs out but it functions. Some companies have a mold with tails, most don't. I wanted a 3.75" skinny tube with the ability to make a hard head on the tube for Texas rigging-so I had to cut my own. When the poo-nado of my job subsides I'll post a pic.
