Hi and welcome to the forums,,,, let me say I'm the opposite, allways wanted to learn to fly fish,,,, most everyone here will probably tell you to start off with a plastic worm, t-rigged, thrown into cover, rocks, drop offs etc.,,,, many great videos here, excellent advice all around, many very knowledgeable people here,,,,
I like a willow, Colorado combination, silver blades, chartreuse white,,,, I've really only had success with this color,,,, dont ask me why,,,, spring seems to be much better for spinner baits,,,, now buzzbaits, different story,,,,
Welcome,,,, glad to have you here,,,, nice to hear your gonna enlist, good luck,,,, I was in 14 yrs, in Germany 4,,,,if you get a chance, try to get over to the Kyl river when the grayling our running,,,, amazing
Well I used pressure treated, and covered it with some ice and water shield for roofing I had left over, then on top of that I put some anti fatigue matting,,,, swivel chair also,,,,
I don't know that I hate cold weather, I just don't like the northwest winds blowing 20mph like we get up here in the winter months, also hardly ever seeing the sun in the winter,,,, but other than that,,,,
Like others have said, talk to others to see what works in your area, baitshops are usually a good place to start, I would probably start with a spinnerbait or buzzbait to locate the fish and to cover alot of area quickly, shallow crankbaits also, then maybe slow down and go with the plastics, I'm gonna be trying out tubes shortly, cause alot of guys here on the forums seem to really like them and I've never tried them,,,, hopefully the fishing God's will be with me,,,,
Being ex military, and to many places in the US and overseas, as for the US, I would say NC and Georgia, overseas I'd say Spain, great bass fishing there also,,,,
Like others have said, why do you want to? Caught a 29in northern this year, fought better than any LM, but maybe not as good as a smallie though, caught on a buzzbait with a chartreuse paddle tail trailer, have never lost a spinnerbait or buzzbait to a northern, but I have lost chatterbaits to them though, I use a 20lb thin steel leader on the chatterbaits now,,,, other than the hammer handles, they fight pretty good,,,,
Thanks everyone,,,, great to be here,,,, we've gotta few michiganders here,,,, I have gotten some good suggestions and alot of really good bass and other species fishermen here on the site,,,, thanks
