  1. Wow, what a spring!! My dad & I have caught some good numbers and solid fish (3-4lbs) for a month now. This past weekend I was spankin'em Friday and Saturday, show up next morning ready to fill the live well, and NOTHING (happened at two different locations, in TX and LA). When pulling off the point, I noticed fish in 20-25 fow, not sure what species. Do you guys think the fish backed that far off in a night (200yds)? Didn't try'em, just proceeded to next spot, since you guys have said post-spawn-ers are difficult to catch. I was fishing point 2-8 fow with flooded trees and began to notice bait spraying top of water with fish destroy-n-em, it was obviously not bass. Crappie? I don't know. Do you guys believe this was fry or threadfin they were eating, or something I don't know about? I don't recollect ever having the discussion of the bass' primary forage for a specific time of the year except fall. I am interested in learning more about their primary bait sources once they back off, Late Spring and Summer. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game. Any discussions/literature on the baitfish sources of TB to learn from would be appreciated. Oh, by the way, I haven't got that look from Pops in a while
  2. US 190 (merryville) bridge open, 191 (dam) open and LA 6 open
  3. 2/12/16 F&F, caught 11, only 3 keepers made it in the boat. Caught fish from 2' to 28'. Thanks to instruction provided on site, finally trusted electronics and bagged my first deep (28') water fish in what I believe to be a channel swing. Strangest thing, it was an Albino-2-pounder! My dad, lost another albino 4lber on edge of boat just prior. I didn't get that look yesterday?
  4. Channel Swings (aka Inside Turns), relevance to bend fishing? What are they? How to locate on Topo or HnL Map?
  5. Sounds like about 99% of my past trips! LF a skunk is what put my boat up for the past 4 months. Guys, thanks for the info. Gonna watch my son play a little B-BALL this am and head out. Me and Pops gonna fish hard, I'm sure there will be silent competition amongst us. He seems to always kick my rear, nothing said, I just get that look. I hate that look
  6. BF, sounds tough, wish it could've been better. Could you let me in on what not to do:-{
  7. My Pop and I are heading to F&F tomorrow. Any reports to get us started?
  8. Mr. Tommy You wrote, "...start deep and stay deep.." when discussing the above areas. I would position myself near the first shallow break (yes I'm reading structure 101 lesson also) and fish both sides. With the understanding, the hungry bass come up from their deep confines to the shallows (depth of shallows dependent on area) to feed. Would that be a correct statement? The deepest I would feel comfortable casting is around 15-16'. Your statement makes me think you are going much deeper. How deep is a bass' habitat?
  9. I have my HnL map, thanks Lake Charles Tackle! Let the studying begin... Is it appropriate to ask questions related to past post? I'm starting back in 2008.
  10. Wow!! This thread is unbelievable. Mr.Tommy, the time and effort all you guys have put in will be deeply appreciated. I am going to begin studying immediately. I was introduced to TB by my parents early in life. Always loved the place and plan to retire there one day, no time soon. Earlier this spring, my wife & I decided to purchase a boat and do a little fishing since our seven year old is coming of age. Well here I am 6 months later, and all I've caught is a bad case of the fever. Not really, we've been on some fish a few times. I watched my 21 year old son put on a frog clinic one evening at the mouth of Patroon and watched my 7 year old catch a nice 2 lb. schooler on the community hole with a fluke. It took him approximately 30 minutes to figure out how to set the hook properly, but it was worth every second. I had a DD at the boat till she spit the rattletrap back at me. My dad always told me while referring to TB, "It will humble the best of fishermen." Well, I now understand perfectly!! He and I are going up to Big Bass on Friday for our 2nd trip together this year, it will be good to sit back and watch him get serious again. I have talked to a couple people who say the bass are schooling. Hopefully, we get on a few. I want to thank you for your time and efforts. Sincerely, J Chaumont
