  1. Thanks for the heads up! I ordered a H20 Xpress Ethos HD crankbait rod with free shipping.
  2. I got tired of clearing tangles on cheaper Zebco's and wound getting a Zebco Omega Pro z02. It's actually really nice, but it's $75. Got it on sale for $60. Haven't had any problems with it.
  3. You can get these in Lefty: Abu Garcia Revo X in 5.4:1 (22" ipt) for $100 Abu Garcia Winch in 5.4:1 (22" ipt) for $200 Shimano Calcutta 201d 5.7:1 (25" ipt) for $350
  4. Thanks for the reply! I really am liking this rod and I think I will also buy the 6'10" MH for jigs. Do you happen to have one of the glass models? I am thinking of buying the 7' medium glass model. Haven't seen many review on the glass. Would love to hear your thoughts on that model. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the reply! What line are you using?
  6. That sounds like it was a Zebco 404 Combo. White rod and reel with green accents. That was my first combo when I was a kid too. Caught lots of trout, bluegill, largemouth and even a few Calico bass. Good times! They still make the 404 combo, just not in white. As Tom mentioned you can get one at Walmart. They are $20 now. Enjoy! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Zebco-Quantum-404-602m-Spincast-Combo/21777438#read-more http://shop.zebcobrands.com/combos/404-reg-spincast-combo-with-tackle.html
  7. Thanks for the review. I bought one on sale at Cabela's for $70, but still haven't had a chance to try it out. It feels like a solid reel, especially for the price.
  8. Picked up a Calcutta 200d for cranking and a Zodias 7'2" H for hollow body frogs. Now I need to find a rod to match the Calcutta and a reel for the Zodias. Thank you bait monkey! Saw a Megabass Destroyer Oneten Special. It was sweet, but I really don't need a $400 jerkbait rod. Must resist...
  9. Yep, I'm in the market for a new cranking rod too. I prefer glass too. I'll check out the Powell and the Dobyns 740cb glass. Thanks for the suggestions! No snow today. Just rain and temps in the low 30's! Just love this New England weather.
  10. Sorry. I can see how my wording indicated that I picked it up in the store and felt it was light. I did actually buy it.
  11. Anyone use a Shimano Zodias 7'2" Heavy? Just saw one in a shop while traveling and picked it up. It feels really light. Was thinking of using it as a frogging rod. Anyone else have one? What do you use it for and what reel?
  12. I like to throw crankbaits. I also like to play bass guitar.
  13. Thanks for the reply! Good to hear all those attachments are working well for you. I have the Thule ratcheting tie down set and some cam straps too. I have no regrets spending the money either. Saves so much time and makes life easier.
  14. What Yakima accessories do you use? I was thinking about getting Hullhound saddles or the Jaylow. The quick tool free attachment system looks cool, but I worried about the brackets being plastic. I read some people complain about cracks. How has whatever you have held up?
  15. That's strange. Here's what it showed. That generation accord is 2008-2012. No worries. I'm not sure the OP is interested in this anyway.
  16. You can order parts on the Shimano website. They have been updating the site lately and that section doesn't seem to be working. You could give them a call at 877-577-0600. I just called them for a parts diagram and they emailed it to me while we were still on the phone. They offer reel service so you could send it in. Don't know how much that would run. I hear the Calcutta 400b is a great swimbait reel.
  17. Looks like a Shimano Calcutta 400b. $240 new.
  18. Riazuli makes a good point. So if you decided to bite the bullet and get a good rack, you will need to make sure it fits. Thule and Yakima make specific rack feet and fit kits to hold the cross bars for almost every vehicle. I checked and Thule does have options for 2008-2012 and 2013-2017 Honda Accords. They don't have one for 2018, but that car is still fairly new. I'm sure they will come up with something soon. You could call them and see if one is in the works. I have called them before and they are very helpful. Yakima has options for both older generations and the 2018. The only thing I don't like about the Yakima bars is that they are round. It makes it harder to mount other racks as they sometime spin. I prefer Thule square bars. Note the Yakima Boatloader and Thule Outrigger only work with round and square bars respectively. I know a lot of people do use the suction cup style loaders. I tried wetting the cups and they still failed. Fishing kayaks are heavy and unwieldy so I don't trust something that isn't fixed anymore. YMMV. Good luck and enjoy your new car!
  19. I have a bad back and bought the boat roller. Big mistake! One of the suction cups failed a few times. The last time I used it, I lost control of my boat and twisted my wrist. Wasn't able to kayak for a couple months. I would avoid it. I wound up getting a Thule rack with square bars and their Outrigger II attachment. It's similar to the Yakima Boatloader. My friend has one on his camry and showed me how easy it was to load his canoe by himself. I just load my kayak straight onto the rack. I used to use foam blocks when my kayak was new, but I don't really care anymore. The Thule Outrigger is so easy to use. The total cost of the bars, feet and outrigger was expensive, but so worth it. They always have 20% off sales going on. I could not transport the kayak without it unless I bought a trailer or hullivator. Here's a great video of a double amputee using the Outrigger:
  20. I also have the Perception Pescador Pro 10 and use a Werner Camano 240cm. I bought both together at REI and while they recommended the 230, the 240 felt better for me. That paddle is great by the way. Expensive, but I got it on sale and it is so much lighter than any other paddles I saw.
  21. Thanks guys. That was a great review A-Jay. Thanks Poolshark. It's nice to know you use it for inshore and other baits. I went ahead and ordered the 200d.
  22. Anyone have one of these and what do you use it for? Deep cranking?
  23. I use a small Simms sling pack. It can hold a 3600. I also carry 3 bags of plastics, water, first aid kit and a rain shell. I keep it in the truck with a 2 piece spinning rod and I'm good to go anytime. It's a $100 but it's the best pack I've had. There are some cheaper fishing sling packs on Amazon you might want to check out too.
  24. Is use Norman Speed Clips too and remove the split ring first. They work great but are a little difficult to open especially when it's cold. This year I am planning to try Lazer Quicklink in a size 2 which is rated for 25lb.
