  1. Closed toe sandals have a sneaker style sole but dry fast. Mine are made by Northwest territory and were about $20 on Amazon. As stated earlier, you can spray them off with a hose if you need to
  2. Mini spinnerbait, grubs, senko, finesse worms 1/8 oz squarebills, and poppers
  3. I would use mono because the thin braid is likely to hang up/get wrapped in your trebles. If you have to use it, at least tie on a leader
  4. Berkley havoc bottom hopper and bottom hopper jr.
  5. Save the money and just go fishing! Youll be better off for it in the long run IMO
  6. Last week I was in there, they had a lot of higher end plastics on sale for decent prices (I got 2 packs of Keitevh crazy flappers for $6, not too bad). But the only things I really like about Cabelas is their clothes/outerwear and they have a big selection of hunting/outdoor gear in store. A lot of clothes were on sale when I was in there, but I think that was part of a "fall classic sale". One of the guys working in the boating/kayak area was telling me that the BPS merger meant that the store was gonna have to stop ordering a lot of the stuff they carry and just stick to top-selling/popular offerings until the entire deal was stable. Don't know where he got his info from though
  7. The h20 express is a world above the bass pro one
  8. For the pop r, I just use the color I think looks the coolest at the time. No science at all
  9. Trick worms, brush hogs, lizards, craws, grubs, etc. would be essentials for me. And a popper and a few more squarebills. Also a few spinnerbaits with different blade setups
  10. Look on Craigslist and eBay for something used. Or wait for a sale. Better yet, save the money for a better setup
  11. If you only have what's listed, this is what I'd suggest: 8lb mono for the Pflueger, use it for small spinnerbaits, squarebills, and rat l traps (about 1/8 - 1/4 oz). 20 lb braid on the abu, use it for soft plastics, bigger spinnerbaits, and jigs, etc.
  12. I just ordered the Tatula CT from amazon, thanks again for your help. I will post my results when I get the chance
  13. I think I'm sold on the CT since this is definitely not going to be a plastics rod. Thanks a lot for your help
  14. Rod will be used for squarebills mostly, but also lipless cranks (less than squarebills though). I'm getting this rod for my smaller SB's, like the KVD 1.5, Academy CRS, Bomber Square A, etc (as in 1/4 to 3/8 oz mostly). The largest lures for this particular setup will probably be a 1/2 or 5/8 oz lipless crankbait, which is still within the Rods lure weight rating. Going to spoil it with 12 or 15 pound mono (not sure yet) and will fish it around light cover, like shallow rip rap, isolated stumps, etc. hope this answers your question
  15. I have a 6'6" MH-F vortex casting. that I use a lot. It is good casting spinnerbaits under docks, bushes, and trees very accurately. I got it last Black Friday when it was marked down to $12.99 on the website. If you can get one for under about $40, I'd think about it, but if it's under $20 then I would definitely do it. Just know you won't be able to cash in on the warranty as the company is going out of business
  16. This was a HUGE help, thanks a lot. But since you have a lot of experience with the Tatula CT, how do you think it would compare to the SV for throwing 1/4 and 3/8 oz squarebills? I ask because I am going to use this setup for 1.5 sized crankbaits and occasionally the 1/2 oz Rat l Trap. I know a lot of people would call anything that's 3/8 or under light, so would the SV be any better?
  17. Thanks for the above responses. But could somebody explain the difference between the SV and CT? Or what a CT Type R is
  18. I know I want to upgrade my squarebill setup. I am planning on a G loomis E6x crankbait (7' M/MF) and have decided on the Daiwa tatula for the reel. But when I went on TW and Ebay ( where a lot of people on this forum say they get them) I was very confused about the differences between the models. Here is what I want out of it: - 6.4:1 gear ratio (or relatively close to it) - Right hand retrieve - Will pair well with the 7' M/MF rod that was mentioned (as far as weight and size and color- though I'm not that much into having everything match perfectly) - Price of about $150. I'm willing to go a little more and definitely willing to go less, but I want a reel that I'm going to enjoy using and have for a long time. So I'm willing to pay for a better piece of equipment - Able to handle 12 - 15 pound mono well Please suggest the best option for my purpose and requirements. Thanks
  19. 6' 6'' M/MF is what I use. Usually 10 lb mono, but you could probably go to braid. In my experience, thi won't cast a 1/4 oz er as well as a larger crank, but it is fine for what I want. I am a big fan of smaller lures in ponds. like the rebel Pop r, rebel bluegill, bomber square A, etc. I have also used 3/16 oz spinnerbaits on this setup with some success, though I do like to add a 3'' senko as a trailer for added weight.
  20. Go get yourself some free chigger craws from DSG. As for me, I really like the zoom big critter craw (doesn't get a lot of talk around here, but I can tell you that it works well) b ut I have also been using the Berkley powerbait craws (chigger craw, crazy legs, and fighting bug) to some success. I like tossing them into shallow structure like lay downs and flooded bushes on a t rig.
  21. No experience with it, but it is very hard to go wrong with big game mono
  22. Exactly. A size 6 - 10 "bream killer" or similar fly will produce well. Tip it with bait or "Powerbait" nibbles if you want. But a roostertail spinner, Rebel micro critter, beetle spin, or any number of other small lures will b good too.
  23. In my opinion, you made the best possible choice for your situation (other than saving the money). Not much is more fun than catching lots of panfish and you can use 1/8 oz lures on that rod for bass, crappie, and other "bigger" fish
  24. Outlet bait and tackle is having a pretty nice sale. Saw GYCB senkos for 1.99-3.99 a bag and some other decent deals
  25. KVD 1.5 Bill Lewis rat-l-trap Rapala original floater rebel pop r
