  1. Guys, I decided to with a Ugly stick. I know, its not amazing but for the price I think those rods are really good. I got a Elite model mod/fast, 7', UL. If it turns out to be a piece of garbage, I will start looking on the Croix direction.
  2. Almost all of those go for more than $100, I could not find the new panfish Gander Mountain and the ultra light model I found was 5' only. Cabelas XML has only one model available and its ML
  3. Small jerkbaits and crankbaits, dropshot flies...
  4. Hey guys, Im looking for a spinning rod that can throw very light lures, most would be around 1/16 but if it could throw a 1/32 that would be awesome. I never heard of a spinning rod that could do that... Anyway, I dont have a lot of money so, it does not have to be excellent quality. Less than $100 is a must, any ideas? best! Oh!! most important, I would like it to be bigger than 6'
  5. It all depends on how much money you can spend on the hobby. I quickly realized that fishing can go as expensive as you want. You get nice rod, a nice reel, another rod, another reel, a bunch of lures, another rod, a boat, you go ice fishing and buy ice fishing rods and lures and shelters... its just infinite. So, $250 does not mean a full tackle box. But its a very good start. I started with lures recently and the biggest mistakes I made were 2: - I bought a bunch of lures to fish clear water but I did not realize that 90% of the places I fish are murky waters. - as Im fishing from the shore, buying lures that can go 30ft deep was not a smart purchase. Try to not make the same mistakes as I made. Buy lures thinking of the place you are going to use them and if you decide not to go the jerkbait rout, you might save a lot of money for cranks, spinners, buzzbaits...
  6. Oh, also, Im fishing for largemouth.
  7. Thanks for the reports guys! helped a lot! best
  8. Hey Tom, Yes Im in the NE but Im mainly fishing ponds. No rivers yet. First because I dont have a boat a second because the closest river to me is the Charles River and its kind of tricky to walk on its shore depending on where you are. So Im basically looking for advice on pond fishing. best
  9. I went with my buddy to Jamaica pond this morning. No bass, but I caught a big brown trout on a jerkbait! Just ate it! Some Rosemary, salt and pepper!
  10. Hey guys, I posted a thread about the most productive time of day for bass fishing. Now I need your advise. I struggle A LOT to catch ANYTHING between 11am and 5pm. I has been over 4 months I've been trying to fish in that time frame with literally ALL the lures and plastics I have. I only fish from the shore and even though sometimes I rig a deep crankbait and cast all the way in the middle of the river (looking for bass that might go deep because of the heat). Of course, Im always looking for structure and those common places that bass like to hang out... but the question remains, what the heck am i doing wrong? I tried everything texas rigged, a bunch of lipless, crankbaits, dropshot, spinners, buzzbaits, chaterbaits and the ocasional jerkbait... nothing works during that time. what to do?
  11. Hello, I was wondering, what time of the day do you guys catch more fish? For me is usually during sunset of the first 2 hours of light. best
  12. Thanks Bill!
  13. where did you get it? can we have a link to check it out? best
  14. Just came back from the Jamaica Pond. I had a lazy saturday so I decided to go fishing. I got there pretty late, around noon. Four hours after my first cast I still could not get a bite. A guy coming out of a boat told me to try and drop shot. I had never tried that so, I decided, what the heck! First cast I landed and 2 pounder and second cast a 1.5 I tell you this, it was funny as hell! hahaha after that, no more bites! came home and now Im probably going to the movies.
  15. 99 cent? is that a brand or it costs 99 cents? lol
  16. I got the big package of inline spinners for trout, they are decent. Now, I dont think I would trust a jerkbait or something like that if it was suuuper cheap.
  17. Yes! 16 inches! On a crankbait.
  18. Caught myself a little trout today! First time ever I eat a freshwater fish from mass!
  19. Thanks for the nice messages guys! I translated them to my dad and he loved it! He told me next time we go to Brazil he will take me fishing for peacock bass!
  20. You bet, he already put in his suitcase 2 lipless, 4 spinners and 8 bags of plastics. Jesus, I might have to go to basspro again! lol
  21. I had a ton of fun today. My dad came all the way over from Brazil just to hang out with me. He has been fishing for at least 40 years and as we do down there, it was always fresh bait. This morning he arrived at the airport and the first thing he said was: Take me fishing! I had been telling him all the stories of my new adventures with the artificial baits and how sometimes a lure that looks completely non-natural catches fish. Of course he was skeptical. Well, I took him to a pond near my house that has some nice bass, it was windy but hey, you gotta work with what you've got! I gave him a chartreuse spinner and the very first thing he sais was: "I've seen hookers who look less flashy than that" Needless to say he was not putting a lot of faith in it. 5 mins in and he got something in the line, a very nice 3lb largemouth! He was speechless and said that he wants to take 50 of those spinners to Brazil. After that we went home and I showed him all my tackle boxes and lures. He went to bed now, he took both of my tackle boxes with him to bed and is now "evaluating" the lures! lol I did it, one more for the team!
  22. Yeah baby!!!when are we going to hit that pond again?
