  1. Thanks guys. It is not just pot. It is everything. Meth, cocaine, opioids, alcohol, prescription pills etc... We have tried everything. Interventions, pleading, yelling, bargaining and even bribing. My family and I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on everything from therapists to wilderness programs to rehabs. It all boils down to this one simple statement... He will not stop until HE wants to stop. I have a front row seat to someone's total and complete self destruction in full living color. I was adopted at birth and this is my only blood relative I know of on this earth. I just want to find another father who is or has lived this nightmare.
  2. My 19-year-old son is a drug addict and I just don't understand it. He has now chosen to be homeless and high rather than safe and fed and warm. As a father I am really struggling with this. Is there another father of a drug addict (active or recovered) who can share some thoughts with me? -Danny
  3. Here's a picture of the Pocket Knocker. I made my own with clips or zip ties and old nuts and washers. I like the idea of using steel that will eventually rust away unlike lead. I also use the Bass Pro model on a chord. I used an old broken rod with reel seat and wound the chord on an old bait caster. This Bass Pro one with chains is more for treble hook baits where as the pocket knocker works for me on single hook baits.
  4. The .45 in the top picture isn't cocked or locked... just sayin... Might be important in case of an emergency...
  5. ... well... I've changed the way I fish a Senko...
  6. I'm gonna call this "Blank Friday".
  7. How do the actual weight of your epoxy/tungsten powder compare to what the weight is supposed to be. In other words you pour your mixture in a one ounce led mold. What does it actually weigh?
  8. These will get you started. As far as I can tell the parts are the same and in the same places. The brakes are different but you will use the same procedure. Each part you take off place in order from right to left. Reverse the process to re assemble. Make note on the length of the side plate screws you take out. One may be longer than the others. Also search for cleaning methods for the bearings. I don't think these videos go into that.
  9. Great advice you gave yourself. Insert anything worthwhile in life and follow it.
  10. If this reel has centrifugal brakes try touching a q-tip with a bit of Shimano oil on the tip of each brake. You can then run the q-tip around the brake race. Many times this is the cause of whining on cast.
  11. It's only a matter of time before someone "invents" it again...
  12. Gear ratio's are expressed in how many turns of the spool for every full turn of the handle. 6.3 to 1 would be 6.3 turns of the spool for each turn of the handle. Manufacturers can change this by changing the number of teeth and or size of the different gears in a reel. Each reel is set for a specific gear ratio. The only way to change it is to open it up and actually swap one gear for another. In bait casting reels there are currently gear ratio's in 5, 6, 7, 8 and even 9 depending on the manufacturer. Think of gears in terms of a bicycle. If you are going up a hill you want a smaller gear ratio because it will make the effort easier. But the trade off is speed. You will go slower but it will feel easier. Five speed reels are for deep cranking where it takes greater effort to get the crank bait down. When flipping and pitching you can use the highest ratio because the retrieves are very very short and you want the bait back to the reel as fast as possible so you can pitch again. The middle ratio's are for a variety of techniques.
  13. There are lots of great tutorials on YouTube on how to service and maintain all kinds of reels. This site also has lots of information. I have no affiliation with it but I have found lots of useful information. www.alantani.com
  14. ... but does it have a taste...?

    ... but honey....???!!!
  16. Same as riding a bicycle up a hill. A different gear makes it easier.. You peddle faster but each turn it is easier.
  17. The fish may not have been shallow enough from when you started (early summer) through now. Are you fishing from a boat or the bank? Cranks work better when you are covering lots of water. High percentage areas are points and creek channel bends that are close to the bank. Anything unusual along a bank. One lay down by itself. One bush that sticks out further than the others. Transition areas there the bank changes from one material to another. Rock to sand. Chunk rock to pea gravel...etc. Anything different. As a co angler your best bait may not be a crank bait. The fisherman at the front of the boat will probably pick off the most active fish before you get a chance to cast to them. This is where finesse practice will pay off! However... you will see where they catch the crank bait fish. Pay attention to exactly where they get bit. You will start to see a pattern.
  18. "Bill Lewis Echo"
  19. Lesson number one: Fishermen are liars.
  20. Used Shimano Curado 100 D. Find one on Ebay or here in the flea market by posting that you are looking for one. Right now they are selling for about $100 give or take. If you don't take to bait casting you can sell it for what you paid for it. It is an incredibly easy reel to learn on. It is very forgiving. Set it and forget it. It is built like a tank.
  21. Alabama was there too singing. Did you watch the show?
  22. It's quite possibly the Seafoam. Try a different brand of stabilizer and see if the smoke volume/color changes. It the manufacturer recommends a 50:1 ratio I wouldn't change that. Just double check you are measuring correctly.
  23. Country ain't country no more....
  24. Do you have mono backing under the braid on your spinning reel?
  25. Will there be any with weed guards?
